    3. The Derrick, Tuesday, December 14, 2004: Perry Harvey Allen, Oil City Gordon L. "Gordie" Dick, 7 E. Second St., Oil City Archie Holliday Sr., Dutch Hill near Parker David L. Latchaw, 830 Buffalo St., Franklin John Adam Nadig Jr., 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin Catherine Mary Reed, 421 Pine St., Clarion Perry Harvey Allen Perry Harvey Allen, 75, of Oil City, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in his residence. Born March 2, 1929, in Oil City, he was the son of Fennell Harvey and Alice Nelson Allen. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 325th Installations Fighter Squadron, from March 5, 1946, to Feb. 6, 1949. Mr. Allen worked as a laborer for 42 years at Oil Well Supply in Oil City, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed working around the house and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Allen was married in Oil City Sept. 22, 1951, to Patricia A. Evans, who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Thomas H. Allen and wife, Cindy, David P. Allen and Steven J. Allen and wife, Deborah, all of Oil City, Mark W. Allen and wife, Missy, of Tionesta and Joseph L. Allen and wife, Shiela, of Venus; a daughter, Christine A. Tock of Oil City; 13 grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Edward Allen of Warren. Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his parents. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Osenider Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. William Hopkins, pastor of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City. The family requests memorial donations be sent to the Venango County VNA. Gordon L. "Gordie" Dick Gordon L. "Gordie" Dick, 62, of 7 E. Second St., Oil City, died at 12:33 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 23, 1942, in Oil City, he was a son of Clyde M. and Thelma Acklin Dick. Mr. Dick graduated in 1961 from Oil City High School. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Dick was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Before his disability, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed and loved his Himalayan cat, Shawnee Rae. On July 17, 1981, he married the former Sandy Carey, who survives. Also surviving are three children and four grandchildren of Seneca; a sister, Joan Allen of Oil City; two brothers, John Dick and wife, Diane, of Warren, Pa., and Bill Dick of Dallas, Texas; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews including two special great-nephews, Easton and Noah Ray of Franklin; three aunts, Dolly Gifford and Betty Porter of Oil City and Emma Benson of Seneca.; his mother-in-law, Treva Carey of Oil City; and sister-in-law, Judy Weber of Oil City. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dick was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde M. Dick Jr.; two sisters, Loretta James and Fonda Lockwood; two nephews, Clyde M. Dick I and Bobby Dick; and a great-niece, Misty James. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a date and time to be announced. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Archie Holliday Sr. Archie Holliday Sr., 82, of Dutch Hill near Parker, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness. The H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home of Parker is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. David L. Latchaw David L. Latchaw, 54, of 830 Buffalo St., Franklin, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, in Sugar Creek Station. Born Feb. 9, 1950, in Franklin, he was the son of David E. and Ethel M. Zerbe Latchaw. Mr. Latchaw was an Army veteran. Surviving are two children, David L. Latchaw of Linesville and Denise Latchaw of Franklin. He also is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Rebecca) Nelson of Titusville and Mrs. Richard (Sara "Sally") Garris of Franklin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Latchaw was preceded in death by five brothers, John Beach, Charles E. Latchaw, Daniel L. Latchaw, Terry L. Latchaw and Dennis Latchaw; and a sister, Ellen M. Latchaw. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at a later date. The Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the VNA Foundation. John Adam Nadig Jr. John Adam Nadig Jr., 92, of 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Sugar Creek Station. Born Jan. 13, 1912, in Englewood, N.J., he was the son of John A. Nadig Sr. and Pearl Estelle Mosier Nadig. Mr. Nadig retired as a 60-year member of the I.B.E.W. Union for electrical workers. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Nadig was a member of the Donation Hill Community Church. He also was a member of the Franklin Moose, VFW, Eagles and Elks. Mr. Nadig enjoyed flying his BT 13 and Piper Cub. His other interests were hunting, fishing, photography, scuba diving and rifle shoots. Mr. Nadig was married March 9, 1933, to Nellie Lewis, who died in May 1984. Surviving are four sons, Paul Nadig and wife, Barbara, of Seneca, William Nadig of Sugarcreek, Richard Nadig and wife, Constance, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and James Nadig and wife, Rose Marie, of Grove City; one daughter, Patricia Diehl and husband, Jerry, of Transfer; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Nadig was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Brown. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dale Adams, pastor of the Donation Hill Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. Catherine Mary Reed Catherine Mary Reed, 100, of 421 Pine St., Clarion, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo. Born Nov. 11, 1904, in Clarion, she was the daughter of Harry and Myrtle Goble McClaine. Mrs. Reed retired in 1965 from Riverside Markets in Clarion. She was a member of the Craig E. Fleming Post No. 66 in Clarion, the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Clarion County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, the Clarion Women's Benefit Association (WBA) and the North American Benefit Association (NABA). Mrs. Reed also was a member of the 500 Card Clubs, Jolly Club of Clarion and the Clarion Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Reed was married in 1924 to Frank Reed, who died in 1966. Surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Phyllis and Gerald Foust of Clarion and Ann and Richard Fleming of Lakeland, Fla.; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by a son, Frank Reed Jr.; three brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Goble Funeral Home of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dean W. Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Clarion Cemetery.
