    3. The Derrick, Tuesday, December 7,2004: David Berenson, Boca Raton, Fla., formerly of Venango County George Burton Fratcher, Franklin Grace N. Levier, Sligo, formerly of Parker Elsie A. Fennell Rankin Wheeling, Oil City David Berenson David Berenson of Boca Raton, Fla., former Pennsylvania state policeman, sheriff of Venango County and owner of The Midway Discount Store in Reno, survived by his wife, Bess, daughter, Barbara Green-Perlstein of Boca Raton, formerly of Oil City, and grandson, Randy Green, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, in Boca Raton. George Burton Fratcher George Burton Fratcher, 92, of Franklin, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in UPMC Northwest Seneca. Born July 12, 1912, in Polk, he was the son of George Herman and Cora Jane White Fratcher. Mr. Fratcher first worked as a laborer at Franklin Ice Co., then worked as a truck driver for S.T. Karn and last was employed as a tank filler for Martin Gas Co. He was a member of the Nicklin United Methodist Church. Mr. Fratcher loved hunting and fishing. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Fratcher of Utica; and five grandchildren, Robert Krepp and wife, Marjorie, of Ocean Beach, Fla., Joseph Krepp and wife, Mary, of Franklin, Deborah Jarzynka and husband, Alan, of Madison, Tenn., Ricci Pacilli and wife, Sammie, of Paw Paw, Mich., and Carrie Placencia and husband, Joe, of Lemont, Ill.; and nine great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a sister, Ocie Doyle of Franklin; one nephew, John "Bunkey" Moore Sr. and wife, Shirley, of Franklin; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Fratcher of Franklin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fratcher was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bonita; a great-grandson, Robert; a great-great-granddaughter, Heather; and a brother, Clarence "Sam" Fratcher. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. George McDaniels, retired local minister, officiating. Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery. Grace N. Levier Grace N. Levier, 74, of Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, formerly of Parker, died Monday evening, Dec. 6, 2004, in the Clarview facility of natural causes. The H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, Parker, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Wednesday in The Derrick. Elsie A. Fennell Rankin Wheeling Elsie A. Fennell Rankin Wheeling, 86, of Oil City, died at 4:02 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Born Dec. 5, 1918, in Fenelton, Butler County, she was the daughter of Ellis and Alice Shook Fennell. Mrs. Wheeling was a former employee of the F.W. Woolworth Co. and retired there in 1980 after 16 years of service. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church and the adult Bible class of the church. She was a former member of the Evangelism Committee. Mrs. Wheeling also was a member of the Salvation Army Home League and the Lioness Club. She was a Christian example to her family. Mrs. Wheeling was married Oct. 29, 1966, to Paul M. Wheeling Sr., who died in February 1988. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Cecil Jr. and Valerie Rankin of North Canton, Ohio, and Rodney and Gretchen Rankin of Oil City; one daughter, Hazel Rankin Jennings and husband, Robert Sr., of Oil City; two stepchildren, Paul Wheeling Jr. and Dorothy Fink; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two brothers, Norman "Butch" Fennell of Chicora and Russell "Dick" Fennell of Karns City. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wheeling was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in Christ Lutheran Church, Oil City. Funeral services will be held art 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Paul Meseke, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 1029 Grandview Road, Oil City, 16301, or to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County.
