    3. The Derrick, Wednesday, December 15, 2004: Claire G. "Mamie" Book, formerly of New Castle Joan Maxine Harry, Longwood, Fla., formerly of Franklin Archie L. Holliday, Dutch Hill near Parker Thomas M. Linehan, Franklin, formerly of Oil City Robert F. "Bob" McKinney, Lansdale, Rimersburg native Helen G. Stainbrook, formerly of 1216 Otter St., Franklin Olivia A. Staub, Erie, formerly of Clarion Gordon L. "Gordie" Dick, getting it right Claire E. 'Mamie' Book Claire E. "Mamie" Book, 95, formerly of 318 Rhodes Place, New Castle, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in Overlook Medical Clinic, New Wilmington. Born Aug. 8, 1909, in Wesley, she was the daughter of Clyde and Margaret Walters Galloway. She was a graduate of Quay High School in Oklahoma, attended the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University and was a graduate of Slippery Rock Normal School. Mrs. Book had been an elementary school teacher at Rocky Grove, South New Castle Borough and Eastbrook Elementary School, New Castle. She was a member of the Clem-Moore Presbyterian Church, New Castle, and the Berean Sunday School Class of the church. Mrs. Book's interests were reading, bridge, crossword puzzles and the Order of Eastern Star. She was married June 9, 1938, to George N. Book, who died Nov. 23, 1969. Surviving are two sons, John Book of Slippery Rock and David Book of Volant; six grandchildren, Jennifer Conrad of Pottersville, Robert Book of Slippery Rock, Bonnie Book of Singapore, David Book of Monterey, Calif., Scott Book of Bellingham, Wash., and James Book of Los Angeles, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Book was preceded in death by a daughter, Sally Ann Book; a son, James Clare Book; and two brothers, Carl Galloway and Myles Galloway. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, in the Clem-Moore Presbyterian Church with Dr. Velis Vais officiating. Joan Maxine Harry Joan Maxine Harry, 74, of Longwood, Fla., formerly of Franklin, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in Longwood. Born Oct. 14, 1930, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Carl and Sylvia Seeley Cotterman. In earlier years before her illness, Mrs. Harry loved to fish and enjoyed cruises, traveling and camping. Mrs. Harry dedicated her life to her daughter and grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter and husband, Sherri and Bill Keller of Longwood, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Jennifer, Billy and Michelle. She also is survived by a brother, Clair Cotterman of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Coleen Knox of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, 1413 S. Semoran Blvd., Orlando, Fla. Holliday, 82, of Dutch Hill near Parker, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born May 6, 1922, in Perry Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Jay and Nellie Wyant Holliday. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, serving from Dec. 3, 1942, to Dec. 12, 1945. He was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Holliday began a career of more than 45 years with the former Pennsylvania Railroad with the section crew at West Monterey. With changes in the care of railroad maintenance, he traveled over much of western Pennsylvania and retired in 1983 as a section foreman with Conrail. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way for more than 40 years. Mr. Holliday was a life member of VFW Post 7073 and was a member of the American Legion Post 598, both of Parker. In earlier years, Mr. Holliday was known in the local area for helping repair automobiles for friends and relatives and enjoyed rebuilding auto engines for his personal use. While his health permitted, Mr. Holliday enjoyed hunting, collecting model trains and spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Holliday was married March 21, 1946, to Betty Pennington, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Patricia King of Cleveland, Tenn., Mrs. Rich (Vickie) Weigle of Parker and Kay Peden of Lyman, Wyo.; four sons, Archie L. Holliday Jr. of Parker, William Holliday and wife, Linda, of Knox, Jeff Holliday of Cleveland, Tenn., and Tim Holliday and wife, Patty, of Grove City; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by one sister, Betty McCandless of Boyers; one brother, Don Holliday of Rimersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holliday was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Runyan Leopold, and a grandson, Kevin Runyan, who died in 1999; two sisters, Verda Jackson and Esther Watterson; and two brothers, Sam and Clair Holliday. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home Inc., Wayne Street, Parker. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Bessie Maihle, retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dutch Hill, Clarion County. Members of the VFW and American Legion of Parker will conduct military services at the funeral home Friday morning following the funeral. Thomas M. Linehan Thomas M. Linehan, 62, a former Oil City resident, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in The Caring Place, Franklin, following an extended illness. The Reinsel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Thursday in The Derrick. Robert F. 'Bob' McKinney Robert F. "Bob" McKinney, 74, of Lansdale, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in Temple University Medical Center, Philadelphia. Born April 24, 1930, in Rimersburg, he was the son of Robert and Helen Stewart McKinney. Mr. McKinney was a graduate of Drexel University and had been employed as an engineer by General Electric in King of Prussia for 42 years., retiring in 1992. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Myers, Va., with the presidential honor guard from 1952 to 1954. Mr. McKinney enjoyed reading, woodworking, carpentry, boating and NASCAR racing. His favorite driver was A.J. Foyt. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Whitemarsh. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, the former Rosalie I. Hersperger. Also surviving are a son, Robert M. "Rob" McKinney and wife, Aimee, of Lansdale; two daughters, Pam Bailey and husband, Collins, of Waldorf, Md., and Susan Shaughnessy and husband, Mike, of Norristown; and 10 grandchildren, Joshua Bailey and wife, Elizabeth, Caleb Bailey, Mary Bailey, John Bailey, Jimmy Shaughnessy, Michael Shaughnessy Chris Shaughnessy, Kelly Hughes and husband, Jeff, Jordan McKinney and Paige McKinney. Stainbrook, 89, of 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, formerly of 1216 Otter St., Franklin, died at 3:22 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in Sugar Creek Station. Born Nov. 7, 1915, in Hannaville, she was the daughter of Herbert and Stella Deeter Young. Mrs. Stainbrook was a machine operator at Franklin Plastics Inc., TNT and CPT throughout the years. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Franklin and the Riverview 322 Senior Center. Mrs. Stainbrook was married Oct. 1, 1934, to Leroy A. Stainbrook, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Charles L. Stainbrook and wife, Choon, of Norfolk, Va. She also is survived by a sister, Marion Proctor of Franklin. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Stainbrook was preceded in death by six sisters, Geraldine Vincent, Margaret Tucker, Vernice Vogan, twin sister, Beatrice Murdoch, and infant sisters, Florence and Hazel Young; and five brothers, Clair, Lawrence, Melvin "Mike" and infant brothers, Robert and Lloyd Young. Second St., Oil City, died at 12:33 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Among his interests was golfing. He was preceded in death by a niece, Tammy Toy. The body was cremated.
