    3. The Derrick, Monday, December 20, 2004: Shirley Jean Gehres, 116 Walnut St., Cochranton Janet L. Haba, Oil City, formerly of Clarksburg, Md. Bernard A. "Barney" Hanlon Jr., Pleasantville RR 1 Dr. Erika M. Lambert, Clarion, formerly of Rimersburg J.C. Richter, 106 Third St., Cochranton Lawrence William Riggle, 1024 Pump Station Road, Titusville Shirley Jean Gehres Shirley Jean Gehres, 61, of 116 Walnut St., Cochranton, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at her residence following a two-year illness. Born Feb. 14, 1943, in Meadville, she was the daughter of Elmer and Twila Hogg Keas. She was a 1961 graduate of Cochranton High School. Mrs. Gehres worked for 20 years at the Cochranton Elementary School for Crawford Central School District. She was in the first EMT class in Northwest Pennsylvania and was an EMT for 13 years. Mrs. Gehres was a charter member of the Cochranton Volunteer Ambulance Service. She also was a member of the Crawford County Fireman's Auxiliary, was a lifetime member of the Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department and assisted the Crawford/Venango Fire School Committee at various functions for more than 25 years. Mrs. Gehres was a charter member and former member of the Cochranton Order of Eastern Star. She loved camping and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Gehres was married June 2, 1962, to Frank Gehres, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Laurie Colgrove and husband, Joe, of Cochranton; a son, Michael Gehres and wife, Barb, of Cochranton; and four grandchildren, Patricia Thompson, Felicia Gehres, Kyle Gehres and Sarah Colgrove. She also is survived by two brothers, Lee Keas and wife, Nancy, of Conneaut Lake and Robert Keas and wife, Patty, of Meadville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gehres was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Ruth Ann. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Dickson Family Funeral Home, Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. John Boal of the Cochranton Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department, the Cochranton Volunteer Ambulance Service or to a charity of one's choice. Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Samuel H. and G. Grace Sheats Lowry. She was a graduate of Oil City High School. Mrs. Haba enjoyed antiquing, bird watching, cooking, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was married in Rockville, Md., Oct. 9, 1971, to Andrew Haba, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Andrea Jenanette Haba and Amanda Janet Haba, both of Frederick, Md.; and one son, Adam Joseph Haba of Clarksburg, Md. She also is survived by eight sisters and one brother, Mrs. Stanley (Peg) Idzi and Mrs. Fred (Barb) Perry, both of Oil City, Mrs. Sue Webster of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Clinton (Rachel) Davenport of Chambersburg, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Stevens of Gainesville, Va., Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Renninger of Smyrna, N.C., Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Newell of Greencastle, Mrs. Tom (Ruth) Corran of Surprise, Ariz., and William Lowry and wife, Sandra, of Norfolk, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Haba was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Andrew John Haba; two brothers, Samuel H. Lowry Jr. and Peter Lowry; and two sisters, Mary Wagner and Jane Wenner. "Barney" Hanlon Jr. Bernard A. "Barney" Hanlon Jr., 76, of Pleasantville RR 1, died late Saturday evening, Dec. 18, 2004, at his residence where he was raising his grandson, Leo A. Hanlon Jr. Born Oct. 8, 1928, in Butler County, he was the son of Bernard A. Hanlon Sr. and Helen Morrow Hanlon. He attended the Forest County schools. Mr. Hanlon was self-employed and owner of Barney's Garage of Pleasantville for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Walburga Church, Titusville, and was a longstanding member of the Tidioute Bucktails Trap League. Mr. Hanlon was a social member of the Tidioute VFW and the Titusville PNA. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 492 of Titusville He was an avid hunter and sportsman his entire life. He loved being with his family and his many friends. Mr. Hanlon was married in Greenup, Ky., Oct. 26, 1946, to Martha Jean Tobin, who died May 19, 1996. Surviving are five children, Patricia Sorenson and Mary Beth Pence, both of Youngsville, Jeffrey L. Hanlon and wife, Lisa, of Titusville, Greg R. Hanlon of Louisville, Ky., and Patrick Todd Hanlon and wife, Jennie, of Pleasantville; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by three sisters, Alene Fish of Pleasantville, Mary Harmon and husband, Alfred, of Tionesta and Jeanie Covell and husband, Warren, of Titusville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Hanlon was preceded in death by two sons, Leo A. Hanlon Sr. and Bernard A. Hanlon III; a granddaughter, Cortney Hanlon; a sister, Betty Labow; and a brother, Leo A. "Lefty" Hanlon. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Leo N. Lambert, 95, a retired dentist formerly of Rimersburg, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in Beverly Healthcare, Clarion. She was born Nov. 4, 1909, in the country of Latvia, where she graduated in 1932 as a dentist from the University of Latvia. Dr. Lambert was employed at the Latvian Railway Employees Dispensary and the Red Cross Children's Nursing Home in Krustpils, Latvia. She left Latvia in 1939 when the Russians took over and fled to Germany by boat with her mother and brother. She spent the war years in Germany. In 1947, Dr. Lambert graduated with a doctorate of oral surgery from Eberhard University in Tuebingen. Following graduation, she and her mother moved to Minnesota where she graduated from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Lambert was a U.S. Army veteran and in 1948, she was employed at the 11th Field Hospital as a dentist for the Army. In 1964, she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a doctorate of oral surgery and then moved to Rimersburg where she began her own practice at the Rimersburg Medical Center. She practiced until retiring in the 1990s. Dr. Lambert attended the Rimersburg United Church of Christ. She has no surviving family, having been preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Varner Funeral Home in Rimersburg. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Gareis, interim pastor of the Rimersburg United Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in the Rimersburg Cemetery. Richter, 79, of 106 Third St., Cochranton, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, in Meadville Medical Center. Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Dickerson Run, he was the son of Jacob C. and Alice Sechler Richter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Richter owned and operated the Valley View Service Station and also the Keystone Station. He also was employed at Morco in Cochranton and retired from Cochranton High School where he worked in the maintenance department. He was known for his small engine repair work in the Cochranton area. Mr. Richter was a member of the Cochranton American Legion James L. Steen Post No. 836. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Richter was married March 22, 1947, to M. Maxine Rough, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry Richter and wife, Veronica, and Roger Richter and fiancee, Cherie Lantz, all of Cochranton; four grandchildren, Jay, Corey, Jessie and Chad Richter; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Richter was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Robert and Cletudis Richter; an infant sister, Lillian Richter; a sister, Cleda Cutshall; and an adopted sister, Carol Campbell. Lawrence William Riggle Lawrence William Riggle, 64, of 1024 Pump Station Road, Titusville, died at 3:44 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Feb. 19, 1940, in Washington, Pa., he was the son of John and Viola Bogan Riggle. Mr. Riggle was employed as a truck driver for Klapec Trucking from 1987 to 2001. He enjoyed reading and sports. Mr. Riggle was married Aug. 11, 1991, to the former Nancy J. Holmes, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John Riggle and wife, Tonya, of Washington, Pa.; a daughter, Franki Ardeno of Oklahoma; a stepdaughter, Michelle Patterson of Washington, Pa.; and nine grandchildren, Page Ann Riggle, John Michael Riggle, Barbara Ardeno, Jeremy Todd, Angela Riggle, Nick Riggle, Dustin O-Hair, Channing O-Hair and Lawrence O-Hair. He also is survived by a brother, Frank Riggle and wife, Cindy, of Washington, Pa.; a sister, Pat Palmer of Monessen; and his dogs and cat, Gator, Snoopy, Sadie and Sooty. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County or to the Humane Society. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
