File, 96, of 404 Main St., Rouseville, died at 1:47 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, in Beverly Healthcare-Oil City. Born June 9, 1908, in Rouseville, he was the son of Charles H. and Emma Nelson File. Mr. File had worked as a truck driver for Refiners Transport. He was a member of the Rouseville United Methodist Church and the Oil City Eagles. Mr. File was married to the former Maude Russell, who died May 18, 1971. Surviving are a son, Charles N. File of Rouseville; two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence E. (Nancy) Gibbons of Franklin and Mrs. Frank (Linda) Emanuele of Oil City; five grandchildren, Mrs. Stuart (Holly) Berlin of Seneca, Mark Gibbons of Franklin, Mrs. Randy (Susan) Carlson of Netherlands, Amy Emanuele of Oil City and Joseph Emanuele of Pittsburgh; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by four nieces, Barbara Dodds and Beverly Higbee, both of Oil City, Kathryn Gamble of Rouseville and Barbara Beers of Lake City. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. File was preceded in death by a brother, Lorein H. File, and two sisters, Irene O'Connor and Gladys Dodds. There will be no visitation. Gilliland, 78, of 3237 Georgetown Road, Polk, Frenchcreek Township, Venango County, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in her home after a short illness. Born Jan. 7, 1926, at home in Rockland Township, Venango County, she was the daughter of Edward L. and Minnie B. Latchaw Gallagher. She was a 1944 graduate of the former Rockland High School. Mrs. Gilliland had worked for 13 years at the former Manifold in Franklin and then retired in 1988 from Polk Center after 25 years of service. She was married May 14, 1966, to Oakley R. Gilliland, who died April 20, 1996. She and her husband owned and operated a family dairy farm in French Creek Township for many years. Mrs. Gilliland was a member of the Sandy Lake Alliance Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family. She loved to travel especially to Alaska and loved animals, including her beloved pet dog, Heidi, and her cats, Tabby, Purr Purr, Cloudy and Charles, the visitor cat. Surviving are her dear companion, William Paul Haylett, at home; a daughter, Judith Mennor of Mercer; a son, Gary L. "Buzz" Monroe and wife, Linda, of Polk; and eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Mark Mennor and wife, Yvonne, and daughters, Katie and Melinda, of Burghill, Ohio; Timothy Mennor serving in the U.S. Navy in Ingleside, Texas, and wife, Nena, and daughter, Juanita; Tracey Urey and husband, Daniel, and daughters, Samantha Scott and Sidney Urey, of Mercer; Gary "Buzz" Monroe Jr. and companion, Becky, and her daughter, Brittani, of Richmond, Va.; Travis Monroe and wife, Dana, and daughter, Laney Jo, of Punxsutawney; Patricia Snyder and daughter, Jessica, of Maumelle, Ark.; Roberta Champion and husband, Michael, and children, Kyle and Chloe, of Canton, Ga.; and Jeanne Xander and children, Kelly and Drew, of Oil City. Aileen Kerr Gruebele Aileen Kerr Gruebele, 98, of Clarion died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005. Born Nov. 29, 1906, in the Clarion County town of Nebraska, she was the daughter of James and Eva Kerr. Mrs. Gruebele was a lifelong resident of Clarion and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion. She was married Jan. 24, 1931, to Harry Gruebele, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Stolzenbach of Clarion; three grandsons, Kurt, Christopher and Mark; and two great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Andrew. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gruebele was preceded in death by a son, James; and her siblings, William Kerr, Marie Ganoe, Olive Kerr and Bessie Elliott. June Marie Hanold June Marie Hanold, 91, of Airport Road, Emlenton, died at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. Born May 14, 1913, in Richland Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Samuel Earl and Stella Mae Champion Dunkle. Mrs. Hanold was a 1931 graduate of Emlenton High School. She was married Dec. 31, 1931, to Paul Wilbur Hanold, who died March 27, 1995. Mrs. Hanold and her husband had resided in Petrolia for 40 years prior to moving to Emlenton. They operated a vanilla business and both were active in the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department. She had been a member of the Petrolia Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hanold enjoyed flower gardening, creative handwork, playing the organ and working in her yard. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jacques (Loretta Mae) Alexanian of Gatneau, Quebec, Canada; six grandchildren, Jacques-Paul Alexanian and wife, Sandy, Lois Alexanian, David Alexanian, Lydia Pelchat and husband, Jean-Pierre, and Roseanne Alexanian, all of the Gatneau, Quebec, area, and Andre Alexanian and wife, Michelle, of San Diego, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren, Joel and Myriam Alexanian, Nathanael and Zacharie Pelchat and Nathan and Abigale Alexanian; and a number of nieces and nephews. Norman Edward Keller Norman Edward Keller, 90, a resident of The Caring Place, Franklin, formerly of Sugarcreek Drive, Franklin, died at 7:24 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in The Caring Place. Born Jan. 14, 1914, in Warren, Pa., he was the son of Harry Michael and Bertha Smith Keller. Mr. Keller retired in 1976 after 34 years as a welder for Joy Manufacturing. He was a member of Sugarcreek United Methodist Church, was a life member of the Moose Club, Eagles Club, Rocky Grove Fire Police, National Rifle Association, Rainbow Sportsmen's Club and the Sugarcreek Civic Club. Mr. Keller also was a member of the Old Timers Baseball Team and played at the age of 71 for a variety of charities. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and watching his great-grandchildren play Little League baseball. Mr. Keller was married Aug. 14, 1941, to Pauline "Polly" Kisabeth Keller, who survives. He and his wife celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Aug. 14, 2003. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Norman "Butch" Keller of Dixon, Tenn., Bonnie Hines and husband, John, of Franklin and Karen Hepler of Oil City; three grandchildren, Tammy Keller of Tennessee, Michelle Hepler Brown of Farrell and Wesley Hepler of Oil City; a stepgrandson, David Hines and wife, Lynne, of Franklin; and two stepgranddaughters, Missi Jolley and husband, Jeff, of Cooperstown and Mindy Adams and husband, Carl, of Polk; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ken (Marian) Ristau of Youngsville. Stephen J. Kish Stephen J. Kish, 83, of 3 Little Pine Place, Franklin, died early Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, in his home. Born April 6, 1921, in Oil City, he was the son of Steve and Margaret Hegedus Kish. He was a 1940 graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Kish was a career soldier. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in April 1941 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge, Franklin Eagles and the VFW. Mr. Kish was a stamp collector and an avid Notre Dame fan. He was married Dec. 28, 1949, to Mary E. O'Leary, who died Aug. 27, 1984. Surviving are a brother, Eugene F. Kish, and a sister, Lillian A. Kish, both of Oil City. "Bill" Simpson, 68, of Millcreek, formerly of Franklin, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at his residence. Born June 23, 1936, in Utica, he was the son of the late Floyd and Anna Clayton Simpson. He was a 1954 graduate of Franklin High School and served in the Military Police with the U.S. Army. Mr. Simpson was a longtime resident of the Erie area and retired in 1994 as a purchasing agent from Zurn Industries, Erie, where he worked for more than 27 years. Following retirement he worked in the hardware department of Sears in Erie from 1995 until the present. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Siebenbuerger Club, both in Erie. His hobbies included wood crafting, traveling, reading and camping. He enjoyed family gatherings, being a good friend to many and working on his home. Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie Simpson Hess and husband, Benjamin, of Goose Creek, S.C.; an aunt, Ann Simpson of Springfield, Ill.; three cousins, James DeFrance and Lorraine Logan, both of Frankford, Del., and Phillip Simpson and wife, Sue, of Dawson, Ill.; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline "Bea" McConnell Simpson in 1995 and a sister, Eleanor Kay. Jolley Wise, and had lived in the Oil City area all of her life. Mrs. Stevenson previously had worked for Garmong's Convalescent Home, White Swan Laundry and as a cook at the White Eagle. She most recently was employed as a crossing guard for the Oil City School District at the corner of Bissell Avenue and Plummer Street, where she really enjoyed the school children. She attended the Salvation Army in Oil City. Mrs. Stevenson was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She first was married to Donald McMunn, who preceded her in death. She then was married Feb. 2, 1965, to James E. Stevenson, who died June 17, 1981. Surviving are a daughter, Tammy S. Myers, with whom she resided; a son and his wife, James L. and Tabitha Stevenson of Oil City; and three grandchildren, Albert Myers, Taylor Stevenson and Camron Stevenson, all of Oil City.
