Stavola, West Hartford, Conn. Margaret Early Margaret Early, 83, of Sligo, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in Clarview Nursing Home, Sligo. Born Nov. 26, 1921, in Sligo, she was the daughter of Henry Blair and Nettie Early. She was a member of the Callensburg Church of God. Miss Early enjoyed volunteering at the Humane Society and attended the Senior Center in Shippenville for many years. Surviving are Deb and Harry Billotle of Sligo and a close friend, Phyllis Vallies, also of Sligo. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mahlon Early, and a sister, Florence Early. Foringer, 78, of West Monterey, Clarion County, died suddenly at 7:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at his residence of natural causes. Born June 6, 1926, in West Monterey, he was the son of Richard L. and Anna L. Williams Foringer. He was a veteran of World War II, having entered the U.S. Navy May 18, 1944, and was honorably discharged at Lido Beach, N.Y., May 19, 1946, as a fireman first class. He received the American Theatre Medal and the Victory Medal. Mr. Foringer was employed for more than 31 years as a freight hauler with Boss-Linco Freight Lines, retiring in 1982. He was a member and elder of Concord Presbyterian Church in Perry Township, Clarion County. Mr. Foringer enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his retirement years. He was married March 19, 1949, to Barbara Knapp, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah Foringer of New Woodstock, N.Y., and Christine Farley and husband, Dean, of Canastota, N.Y.; four sons and their wives, Richard and Pamela Foringer of Cazenovia, N.Y., Robert and Susan Foringer of Canastota, N.Y., Alan and Julie Foringer of Palm Bay, Fla., and Jim and Amy Foringer of Rimersburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He also is survived by one sister, Judy Tizzard and husband, Terry, of Fletcher, N.C.; one brother, Dean Foringer and wife, Jane, of Leicster, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foringer was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Dean Foringer. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the H. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association at a location of choice. Kathryn L. Gilhousen Kathryn L. Gilhousen, 95, formerly of West Sixth Street and Lee's Lane, Oil City, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin, after a brief illness. Born Nov. 17, 1909, in Knox Dale, she was the daughter of Joseph and Bertha Dinger Martin. She attended schools in Knox Dale. Mrs. Gilhousen was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church. She was married Nov. 19, 1929, to Ray S. Gilhousen, who died Sept. 2, 1981. After her marriage, Mrs. Gilhousen worked at American Hotel, supervising staff, and then at Pine Crest Country Club in Brookville. She and her husband moved to Oil City in 1940. During World War II, Mrs. Gilhousen worked at CPT and Oilwell Supply as a machinist. From 1943 to 1946 she worked for James Berry, overseeing household staff. About 1946, she started baking professionally for Jerko's, making cream puffs and also at Famoore's, making cream puffs and pies. Later she began a 25-year career baking special occasion cakes, retiring in 1970. Mrs. Gilhousen enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading. Surviving are a son, James Ray Gilhousen and wife, Carol, of Oil City; and two grandsons, James Ray Gilhousen Jr. and Brian Robert Gilhousen, both of Oil City. She also is survived by three sisters, Mary Wiant of Punxsutawney, Pearl Wolfe of Knox Dale and Myrtle Miller of Erie. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gilhousen was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Martin and Walter Martin, who was killed in World War II; three sisters, Iva Bush, Violet Pendleton and Marie Shumaker; and a half brother, William Martin. Margaret Brahaney Keats Margaret Brahaney Keats, 90, of 612 Adelaide Ave., Miller Park, Franklin, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in her residence following an extended illness. Born Feb. 6, 1914, in Ridgway, she was the daughter of James P. and Margaret Jane Evans Brahaney. Mrs. Keats was a member of the first graduating class of Holy Rosary School in Johnsonburg and then was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School. She followed in her mother's footsteps, traveling to New York City to pursue a career in nursing, training at Bellevue Hospital and Columbia University. Her mother had been a member of the first class of that nursing school and Mrs. Keats, known as "Bets," matriculated there with honors. She was a surgical nurse at Bellevue when she was married Aug. 21, 1935, to John B. Keats, who then was a member of the New York Giants football club. Her husband died Feb. 22, 1985. Mrs. Keats was proud of her Irish heritage and was very active in community and church affairs in her younger years, especially with the Catholic Daughters of America and the League of Women Voters. She was a voracious reader of fact and fiction and an avid bridge player. She remained active in her later years, with interests centered upon her large family. Surviving are four children, Dr. J. Bert Keats of Scottsdale, Ariz., James Keats and wife, Mickey, of Orchard Park, N.Y., Dr. Joel Keats and wife, Jill, of Franklin and Shelley LeFevre and husband, Rol, of Derby, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, Heather Keats of Escondido, Calif., Kristen Keats and husband, Tim Longmire of Tigard, Ore., Jamie Keats of Orchard Park, N.Y., Joelle Krasik and husband, Curt, of Pittsburgh, Josh Keats and wife, Marcy, of Orchard Park, Erin Kern and husband, Todd, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, John Keats Kasile of Columbus, Ohio, Shea, John and Molly Keats of Franklin; Beau LeFevre of Houston, Texas, and Casey LeFevre of Derby, N.Y.; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Keats was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Daniel and John; her sister Ruth; and her eldest daughter, Dr. Patricia Keats Kasile. Margaret Mae Martin Margaret Mae Martin, 88, of Maple Lane Drive, Cooperstown, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, in The Caring Place, Franklin. Born Feb. 24, 1916, in Butler County, she was the daughter of Harry and Irene Moyer Wade. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Evangelistic Tabernacle in Cooperstown. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and crocheting and was a midwife to many children. Mrs. Martin first was married Jan. 18, 1938, to Charles W. Martin, who is deceased. She then was married June 16, 1984, to the Rev. Clarence Chess, who died July 7, 1986. Surviving are one son, Donald R. Martin and wife, Carol, of Cooperstown; one daughter, Irene Rosenberger and husband, Robert, of Franklin; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three brothers, the Rev. Roy J. Wade of Salem, Ohio, Robert M. Wade of Grove City and James D. Wade of Parker; and two sisters, Mrs. David (Mary) Hovis of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Mrs. William (Jean) Deets of Hannaville. Stavola, M.D., 75, of West Hartford, Conn., husband of Judith Valeski Stavola, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Felix J. Stavola of Farmington, Conn., and the late Lucy (Martino) Stavola. He attended Hartford public schools and graduated in 1947 from Bulkeley High School. He graduated cum laude in 1951 from Holy Cross College and then attended Wesleyan University in Middletown as a teaching assistant in biology and pursued courses in biochemistry for a year. Dr. Stavola entered New York Medical College in 1952 and received his M.D. degree with honors in 1956. He did his internship at St. Francis Hospital from 1956-1957 and a three-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital from 1957-1960. From 1960-1962 he served in the U.S. Navy, based at Groton Submarine Base and practiced obstetrics and gynecology. He began private practice in Hartford, Conn., in 1962, with his primary hospital being Hartford Hospital and practiced until his retirement in 1996. Dr. Stavola was a member of the AMA, the Connecticut State Medical Society and the Hartford County Medical Association and numerous gynecological societies including the New York Medical Gynecological Society. He was assistant director of Hartford Hospital Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1975-1990. He was a biographer of numerous "Who's Who" publications since 1976, including "Who's Who in America." Following his retirement he was the recipient in 1997 of the Distinguished Service Award from Hartford Hospital. During his lifetime, besides his family interests, he was an accomplished pianist who loved to play Chopin and also enjoyed oil painting. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Judy, and father, are a daughter, Beth Ann Stavola of Hartford, Conn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, John J. Stavola, Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Glastonbury, Conn., and Dr. Joseph J. Stavola and wife, Jeanne, of Pelham, N.Y.; Judy's children; Christopher Wiegel and wife, Maria, of Middletown, Conn., Heidi Gregory and husband, Douglas, of Manchester and Kurt Wiegel of Byron, N.Y. He also is survived by his sister, Rosanne Sparveri and husband, Joseph, of Naples, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stavola of St. Augustine, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Timothy, Abigail, James and William Stavola and Cameron Gregory. Besides his mother he was predeceased by his brother, Nicholas Stavola. The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. today in the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, Conn., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. Mark the Evangelist Church, 467 South Quaker Lane, West Hartford, Conn. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Conn.
