Keller Joseph S. Keller, 80, of 148 Time Machine Drive, Polk, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at his residence. Born March 24, 1924, in Raymilton, he was the son of Joseph P. and Ruth Barnes Keller. Mr. Keller was a printer and proof reader for the Cleveland, Plain Dealer from 1962 to 1985. Prior to that he worked as a printer and proof reader for General Manifold until 1962. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Saratoga and was honorably discharged in December 1945. Mr. Keller was married Aug. 22, 1942, to Esther G. Keller, who died May 8, 1983. Surviving are two children, Robert J. Keller of Lakewood, Ohio, and Mrs. William (Nancy) Barnes of Franklin; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Paul E. Keller and special friend, Barb, of Franklin; and three sisters, Peg McClelland and husband, Jake, of Greenville, Helen Harrison and husband, Jim, of Sandy Lake and Carol Kitchen and special friend, Chet, of Naples, Fla. There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Ronald C. Bole officiating. Interment will be in Old Sandy Cemetery. Judith Irene Liska Judith Irene Liska, 62, of 1418 Ridge Road, Apollo, Kiski Township, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in her home. Mrs. Liska lived in Kiski Township for the past 20 years, moving there from Vandergrift. Born Nov. 30, 1942, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Millard and Evelyn Richenbrode Daum. She was a graduate of DuBois Business School and Hobe Sound Bible School, Florida. Mrs. Liska was a homemaker and also worked as a caretaker at Apollo Presbyterian Church. She was married to Frank A. Liska, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Jason Liska of Kiski Township; two brothers, Grant Daum and wife, Sandra, of Cortland, N.Y., and Gary Daum and wife, Mary, of Kensington, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Liska was preceded in death by her parents. There will be no visitation. Services will be held at noon today in the Brady-Curran Funeral Home, 429 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, with the Rev. Leo Rothrauff officiating. Interment will be private. John Milo Smathers John Milo Smathers, 76, of 19 Creek Court, Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of Clarion County, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in the Veterans Hospital, Gainesville, Fla. He was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Clarion County. Mr. Smathers, who retired as an executive with Owens-Illinois at various plants, including Clarion, moved to Palm Coast in 1983. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War. He was wounded three times in 1953 while serving with the Army Airborne Rangers. He received the National Defense Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Bronze Star, the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart with two Oak Clusters. Among his survivors are his dear friend and close companion of 20 years, Phyllis Bonnell; three children, Leslie Durgain of Laramie, Wyo., Hilda Gustafson of Falcon, Nev., and John Smathers Jr. of Clarion; and three grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, Patricia Irwin of Palm Coast, Fla., and Nancy Kerr of Glenshaw; two nephews; and one niece. Interment will take place in Clarion Cemetery. Weber, 82, of Seneca, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at his home after suffering a fractured hip and a stroke. Born July 6, 1922, he was the son of William and Nellie Cowen Weber of Cooperstown. He was a 1939 graduate of Titusville High School. After serving in the Navy during World War II in Fort Pierce, Fla., he graduated from Gannon University in Erie. Mr. Weber previously worked in local industry before his position with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, for 29 years, retiring in 1982. He was an elder, deacon and trustee of the Second Presbyterian Church in Oil City. Mr. Weber served for 10 years on the Venango County Humane Society board. He also served Meals on Wheels. He was a past master and trustee of Masonic Lodge 710 in Oil City and belonged to the Venango County Shrine Club. Mr. Weber served on the Cranberry Township Sewer Services Authority. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling with the YWCA Gallivanters Club. He especially looked forward to attending his Titusville High School reunions. He loved his dogs. Mr. Weber first was married July 18, 1959, to Jean Smedley Ferguson, who died Dec. 7, 1982. On Aug. 3, 1985, he married Frances Whiteman Jones, who survives. Also surviving are his stepson, Dr. Terry Whiteman and wife, Joanna, and grandchildren, River, Anna and Joshua, of DeWitt, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Gordon Ferguson and wife, Phyllis, of Erie; a niece and nephew, Janis and Robert Ferguson of Erie; a sister-in-law, Norma Weber of Titusville; three nephews and their wives, Gary and Maxine Weber of Corry, Ken and Carol Weber of Pleasantville and Bill and Susie Weber of Manchester, Mich.; his niece, Cheryl Leland of Medina, Ohio; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Barbara and Robert Peil of Syracuse, N.Y., and Virginia and Elmer Busch of Ocala, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Weber was preceded in death by his twin brother, Waylan, and his brother, Maurice Weber of Titusville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Second Presbyterian Church, Oil City, with the Rev. Howard Gaston officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Titusville. Williams, 82, of 2 Amberley Way, Lititz, formerly of Oil City, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in Lancaster General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Florida, he was the son of Arthur E. and Ruth Calkins Williams of Oil City. He served in the Army Transportation Co. during World War II and made 14 Atlantic crossings as a cargo security officer. Mr. Williams was a former insurance executive associated with Lititz Mutual Insurance Co. for 40 years beginning as the western Pennsylvania marketing representative in 1959. He held that position until retiring in 1994. He was a past member of several insurance trade associations and was certified by the Insurance Institute of America in property and casualty insurance. Mr. Williams was a member of the Lititz Moravian Congregation and had been president of the board of trustees. He also served as a former president of the American Business Club in Lititz. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the American Legion Post 56 and the VFW Post 1463 in Lititz. Mr. Williams was married for 57 years to Jeanne Mansfield of Oil City, who died in July 2004. Surviving are a son, J. Randy Williams of Lititz; two daughters, Mrs. A. Ray (Susan) Soule of Wilmington, N.C., and Mrs. Robert E. (Amy) Tucker of Midlothian, Va.; and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted G. Williams of Oil City. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Lititz Moravian Church, with a time of visitation with the family to follow the service. Fisher funeral set Wednesday Funeral services for Herman W. Fisher, 83, of Shippenville RD 1, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox. The Rev. Donald Poole, pastor of the Knox United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mark Cemetery, Kossuth. Mr. Fisher died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at his residence. Getting it right - Bonnie Jean Kell Bonnie Jean Kell, 43, of 535 Colbert Ave., Oil City, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Among her survivors are three stepchildren, Richard Whitling Jr. of Polk, Ronald Whitling of Franklin and Rebecca Lynn Whitling of North Carolina.
