Klinger, 674 Grant St., Franklin Rose Marie Long, 722 12th St., Franklin Leo A. "Zip" Maher, Marble Grace M. Nicklas, Redclyffe, Marienville HC 3 Dorothy R. Thomas, 821 W. Spring St., Titusville Margaret Joyce Collingwood Margaret Joyce Collingwood, 77, of Emlenton, died at 12:54 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in the emergency room of Clarion Hospital following an extended illness. She had been a resident of Clarview Nursing Home for the past year. Born Oct. 7, 1927, in New Kensington, she was the daughter of Meade and Nora Lineman McCoy. Mrs. Collingwood was employed by the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District as cafeteria monitor and aid. She retired in 1991. She was a member of the Park Hill Church of God in West Freedom and the women of the church. She also was active in various church activities at the Whitehall Church of God Campground in Emlenton. Mrs. Collingwood was married in Arnold Aug. 4, 1948, to the Rev. Marlin W. Collingwood, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah S. Southworth and friend, Dan Whitehill, both of Emlenton, and Monica A. Heal and husband, Robert, of Emlenton; a son, Marvin W. Collingwood II and friend, Gary Girton, of Boston, Mass.; four grandchildren, Jesse L. Armstrong of Oil City, Clinton B. Armstrong of Albuquerque, N.M., Adrian R. Southworth and wife, Lena, of Emlenton and E6 Levi D. Southworth and wife, Nicole, of Ingleside U.S. Naval Base, Ingleside, Texas, currently serving in the Persian Gulf; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob L. Armstrong and Alex R. Armstrong of Oil City and Jordyn and Jaimes Southworth of Ingleside, Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald McCoy. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Park Hill Church of God, West Freedom, followed by a reception for friends and family at the church. The Rev. Lonny D. Wolford, church pastor, and the Rev. John Davis, a Church of God pastor, will officiate. The Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Patient Recreation Fund at Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo. Clyde Alviin "Cubby" Cubbison Clyde Alvin "Cubby" Cubbison, 80, of 1573 State Route 227, Plumer, died at 12:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, at his residence. Born March 25, 1924, in Oil City, he was the son of Clyde A. and M. Maude Hulings Cubbison. He was a 1942 graduate of Cranberry High School. Mr. Cubbison was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He entered the service June 3, 1943, in Erie and served with the 2571st Service Unit Command as a military policeman. He was honorably discharged March 23, 1946, at Fort George Meade in Maryland with the rank of Tec 4. He had been employed at the former Pennzoil Refinery as a stillman and watchman for 37 years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Cubbison was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0205 in Saegertown. He enjoyed singing and playing the accordion for square dances, his family and friends. He was a member of the Keystone Playboys from 1947 to 1949. He loved to listen to country and bluegrass music and enjoyed playing dominos. Mr. Cubbison was married in the Breedtown Baptist Church July 18, 1948, to Norma Fink, who survives in Oil City. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Fred (Phyllis) Warham, Martha Turner and Mrs. Kevin (Sue) Sterling, all of Titusville, Mrs. Lindy (Ginger) Keister of Shippenville and Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Snyder of Delmont; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Margaret Kerr of Edinboro; a brother, Lester W. Cubbison and wife, Mae, of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael W. Snyder. No public visitation will be observed. Friends may attend a celebration of his life from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Plumer Community Building. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. in the community building. Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Veterans Administration Regional Office, 1000 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, 15222, or to the VNA Hospice of Venango County, 176 E. Klinger, 80, of 674 Grant St., Franklin, died at 7:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. Born May 31, 1924, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Herbert F. and Cora M. Huffman Cornell. Mrs. Klinger retired in 1988 after 27 years of service as a nurses aide at Franklin Hospital. She was married Oct. 10, 1942, to Conrad S. Klinger, who died Dec. 21, 1997. Surviving are three children, Herbert C. Klinger and wife, Gloria, of Shippenville, Samuel L. Klinger of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Linda L. Klinger of Franklin; a special "son" and "daughter," Andrew and Karen Truitt of Franklin; and a special "daughter," Mrs. Betty Voorhies of Franklin; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Klinger was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Klinger; an infant granddaughter, Darlene Michael Lynette Klinger; a grandson, Israel Michael Jacob Klinger; and a sister, Leona Hoffman. There will be private family visitation only. A memorial service to be announced at a later date will be held in the Baptist Temple Church, Franklin, with the Rev. David Foote officiating. Rose Marie Long Rose Marie Long, 58, of 722 12th St., Franklin, died at 1:52 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Born June 26, 1946, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Ruth Cochran Culbertson and the late Kenneth Culbertson. Mrs. Long worked for 241/2 years as a RSA at Polk Center. She was a member of the Franklin Salvation Army and also belonged to the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Mrs. Long enjoyed bowling, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her mother, Ruth Culbertson of Rouseville; her husband, John Long of Franklin; three daughters, Cindy Long and Billie Long, both of Franklin, and Cathy Bechtel and husband, Travis, of Oil City; and four grandchildren, Renee Swab and Dana Swab III, both of Franklin; Haley Bechtel of Oil City and Michael Long of Franklin. She also is survived by a brother, Richard Culbertson and wife, Betty, of Oil City; and a nephew, Timothy Culbertson of Oil City. Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her father and a grandson, Kenneth J. Long. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with Envoys Ralph and Virginia Hardiman officiating. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery. Leo A. 'Zip' Maher Leo A. "Zip" Maher, 73, a longtime resident of Marble, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2005, at his home. Born March 8, 1931, in Lucinda, he was the son of Joseph and Clara Eckel Maher. His mother died when he was an infant and his uncle and aunt, Gust and Josephine Eckel, who also were his godparents, raised him. He attended St. Michael School in Fryburg. Mr. Maher worked for numerous local coal companies including 20 years with C&K Coal Co. He was a member of St. Michael Church, Fryburg, and also was a member of the Knights of Columbus of the church. Mr. Maher enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working with flowers, bird watching and walking his dog, Kirby. He was married by the Rev. Francis Theobald in St. Michael Church Oct. 17, 1959, to the former Jane Groner, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Ronald L. Maher and wife, Alberta, of Lickingville, Daniel J. Maher and wife, Jennifer, of Fryburg, Linda J. Lawson and husband, Michael, of Shippenville and Thomas G. Maher and wife, Stacey, of Marble; and eight grandchildren, Ronald Jr., Kelly and Dana Maher of Lickingville, Jason and Bradley Maher of Fryburg, Crystle and Nicole Schrecengost of Shippenville and Mackenzie Maher of Tionesta. He also is survived by a sister, Agnes Andrews of Chicago, Ill,; and two brothers, Robert Maher of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and Joseph Maher of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and one brother, Paul Maher of Chicago, preceded him in death. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Faller Funeral Home, Fryburg. Mr. Maher requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice, the American Cancer Society, Clarion County Humane Society or to the Shippenville-Elk Ambulance Service. Grace M. Nicklas Grace M. Nicklas, 86, of Redclyffe, Marienville HC 3, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, in Clarion Hospital. Born Sept. 22, 1918, in Green Township, Forest County, she was the daughter of George S. and Lulu Mae Richards Moore. Mrs. Nicklas was married in Kane Dec. 26, 1935, to Cecil M. Nicklas, who died Oct. 17, 1994. Surviving are one daughter, Connie Meredith of Kersey; four sons, Leonard Nicklas, Dale Nicklas and Marlyn Nicklas, all of Marienville, and Steve Nicklas of Erie; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Nicklas was preceded in death by one daughter, Lois Nicklas, Dec. 31, 2002. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home, Marienville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Richter officiating. Interment will be in the Redclyffe Cemetery, Marienville. Dorothy R. Thomas Dorothy R. Thomas, 94, of 821 W. Spring St., Titusville, died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in The Caring Place, Franklin, where she had been a resident for the past several months. Born Jan. 25, 1910, in Rome Township, Crawford County, she was the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Jacob Roberts. She attended Titusville area schools. Mrs. Thomas was employed for 20 years at the W.T. Grant Store in Titusville. She attended the First Baptist Church in Titusville. Mrs. Thomas belonged to the Titusville Senior Center, Moose Club Ladies Auxiliary and Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Thomas was married in Ripley, N.Y., June 10, 1936, to Leonard C. "Bun" Thomas, who died March 29, 1991. Surviving are one daughter, Bernice Tanner and husband, Jack, of Titusville; five grandchildren, Randy Tanner and Shaun Tanner of Titusville, Michelle Rumbaugh of Jamestown, N.Y., and Renee Thomas and Billie Jo Thomas, both of Frewsburg, N.Y.; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica Looney of Jamestown, N.Y., Joshua Winkleman, Evan Tanner and Cory Tanner, all of Titusville, and Cody Thomas of Frewsburg. N.Y. She also is survived by one sister: Violet Brady of Titusville. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by two sons, Louis Carlton Thomas and William Joseph Thomas; two brothers, George Roberts and Norman Roberts; and two sisters, Hazel Sharp and Bernice Foresther McDonnell. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
