Hepfl Sr., Maxwell Road, Clarion Aleda Ann Ranf Mills, Wadsworth, Ohio, formerly of Oil City The Rev. Canon Reginald E. Moore, Girard Charles C. "Craig" Smith, 8 Lafayette Way, Titusville John Uzmack Sr., Mulberry, Fla, formerly of Knox Charles Bill Cassett Charles Bill Cassett, 71, of West Main Street, Sheffield, formerly of Marienville, died Friday evening, Jan. 7, 2005, at the Erie Veterans Administration Hospital as a result of injuries suffered in a pedestrian accident. The Borden-Lloyd Funeral Home, 203 West Main St., Sheffield, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Monday in The Derrick. Walter H. Hepfl Sr. Walter H. Hepfl Sr., 76, of Maxwell Road, Clarion, Highland Township, died unexpectedly at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at his residence. Born June 13, 1928, in Highland Township, he was the son of George and Martha Swartzfager Hepfl. Mr. Hepfl was married June 7, 1949, to the former Marion Wolbert, who died June 27, 1993. He was in the lumber business with Hepfl Lumber. Mr. Hepfl was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. He enjoyed gardening, working and spending time with his grandchildren and horses. Mr. Hepfl is survived by a son, Walter H. "Tank" Hepfl Jr. of Clarion; a daughter, Jenny Hockman and her husband, Don, of Clarion; three grandchildren, Katie, his beloved granddaughter who he helped raise, and Jerry and Seth; He is also survived by five sisters, Gerry Griebel and her husband, Robert, of Clarion, Rita and her husband, Joseph Reed, of Clarion, Betty and her husband, Ed Wolbert, of Snydersburg, Mary and her husband, Ronald Nick, of Fryburg, and Monica Reed of Clarion; a brother, Donald Hepfl and his wife, Dolly, of Fryburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Joseph Hepfl; a sister, Pauline Stiglitz; two infant sisters, Helen and Georgie; and two infant brothers, Jimmy and Tommy. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion. A Christian wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Mass of Christina Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo as celebrant. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Immaculate Conception School, Main Street, Clarion, 16214. Aleda Ann Ranf Mills Aleda Ann Ranf Mills, 79, of Wadsworth, Ohio, formerly of Oil City, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005. Born May 16, 1925, in Windy City, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Laurinda Carlson Ranf. Mrs. Mills resided in Oil City from 1947 until two years ago when she relocated to Wadsworth. She had worked as a secretary for Cranberry High School. Mrs. Mills was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother. Along with her husband, she delivered Meals on Wheels and was treasurer for a number of years. She was married for 47 years to James L. Mills, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Mills is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Mills Giaccai and her husband, Jerry, of Canton, Mass., and Renita Mills Bridge and her fiance, Jim Kinsella, of Partlow, Va.; two sons, Paul E. Mills of Akron, Ohio, and Barry Mills and his wife, Valerie, of Wadsworth, Ohio; several grandchildren, Jennifer Giaccai and Jon Guyer of Washington, D.C., Emily Giaccai Pyatt and Brian Pyatt of Falls Church, Va., David Giaccai of Canton, Mass., Sarah Giaccai of Brighton, Mass., and Jim, Jessica and Jordyn Parsons and Kelsey and Lilian Mills, all of Wadsworth, Ohio. She is also survived by a great-granddaugher, Claire Olivia Pyatt of Falls Church, Va.; a brother, Keith Ranf and his wife, Gail, of Sagle, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon L. and Clair E. Ranf, both of Oregon; a sister, Shirley Calabrese of Erie; and a six-month-old son, Darryl L. Mills. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association. The Rev. Canon Reginald E. Moore The Rev. Canon Reginald E. Moore, 84, of Girard, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at his residence. Born June 30, 1920, in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada, he was a son of the late Ernest C. and Mary E. Ferguson Moore. He received his bachelor of arts degree in 1947 from the University of Toronto and went on to receive his E.C.M. that same year at Trinity College. He later attended General Theological Seminary at Columbia University. In 1948, he was ordained an Episcopal priest in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, and he served in parishes in the diocese of New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. The Rev. Moore was rector of St. Paul in Ossining, N.Y., from 1948-1954; rector of St. Mark in Yonkers, N.Y., from 1954-1958; and rector of St. John in Franklin from 1958-1974. He went on to serve as vicar of St. Mark in Erie from 1974-1980 and vicar of St. Augustine in Edinboro and St. Peter in Waterford from 1980-1982. In 1979, he was appointed canon missionary for the Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania. He was also a retired major of the Pennsylvania National Guard and chaplain in the 71st Regiment, 42nd Division in New York City and 28th Division in Pennsylvania. He is survived by two sons, Stephen M. Moore and his wife, Johanna, of Girard, and Timothy E. Moore and his wife, Marjorie, of Greensburg; a sister, Rosamond A. Doyle of Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada; and family friend Amelia Weber of Yonkers, N.Y. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Mary Campbell of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Matthew Moore of Girard, Kimberly Smock of Albion, Heather Hauser of Latrobe, Bryan Moore of Virginia Beach, Va., and Patrick Moore of Greensburg; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Moore. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard. Ripple, rector of St. Stephen Episcopal Church of Fairview, preacher; and the Rev. Dr. Donald L. Baxter Jr., interim priest at Grace Episcopal Church of Lake City, assisting priest. 'Craig' Smith Charles C. "Craig" Smith, 60, of 8 Lafayette Way, Titusville, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, following a short illness. Born Dec. 7, 1944, in Titusville, he was the son of Frances E. McNellie Smith and the late Eugene C. Smith Sr. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Titusville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Smith was employed as a machinist for 27 years at Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. He was a member of the Church of Christ of Titusville. He was a life member of the Bruce Shorts VFW Post 5958, also in Titusville. Mr. Smith enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved his dogs and listening to rock and roll music. He was also an avid camper. In addition to his mother of Titusville, he is survived by two brothers, Eugene "Gene" Smith Jr. and his wife, Esther, of Titusville, and Raymond L. Smith of Longneck, Del.; a sister, Bonnie Smith Pierce of Titusville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. No visitation will be observed. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Church of Christ with pastor Gary Kinnear of Breedtown Baptist Church officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 201 N. Franklin Street, Titusville; Church of Christ, 221 W. John Uzmack Sr. John Uzmack Sr., 67, of Mulberry, Fla, formerly of Knox, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at Good Shepherd Hospice Residential Center, Auburndale, Fla., after a battle with cancer. He was born June 5, 1937, in Library. He had lived in Mulberry for the past 16 years. Mr. Uzmack was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for Imperialakes Realty Corp. He was formerly owner/operator of Firestone/Jamack Tires in Oil City. Mr. Uzmack was also production manager for Crown, Cork and Seal in Bartow, Fla., from 1962 to 1970. Mr. Uzmack was a member of the Highland City Refuge Church of God. While in Pennsylvania, he was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in Ninevah. He was married to Myrna Uzmack, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John Uzmack of Mulberry; three daughters, Lisa Reichart of Naperville, Ill., and Julie Nelson and Carole Uzmack of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph Uzmack Jr. of Knox and James Uzmack of Clarington; and one grandson, Austin John Reichart. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow, Fla. The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 3319 Maguire Blvd., Suite 101, Orlando, Fla.
