"Milly" Thompson, former resident of South Martin Street, Titusville Wayne C. Weber, 120 Iroquois Drive, Seneca Vanessa Nicole Wingard, Shippenville. James A. Cummings James A. Cummings, 81, of Silver Lane, Clarion, died at 8:06 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, in the Clarion Hospital. Born Jan. 17, 1923, in Strattanville, the son of the late Arden and Garrie Maxwell Cummings. Mr. Cummings was a machinist for more than 25 years at CPT in Franklin. Following his retirement, he ran a sharpening business out of his home in Clarion. He was a member of the New Rehobeth Greenville Presbyterian Church, Strattanville, where he was very active. He was an elder and a trustee of the board. Mr. Cummings was married May 17, 1952, to the former Mary Leech and she survives. He is also survived by two children, Jeff Cummings of Clarion and Lori Miller and her husband Glenn of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren, Christine Miller of Texas, Carole Kamm, Jack Miller and Derrick Miller, all of Arkansas and Brandon Cummings of Knoxdale; three great-grandchildren, Marie Louise and Grace Miller of Texas and James A. Kamm of Arkansas; two brothers, Kenneth Cummings of Shippenville and Ronald Cummings of Clarion; two sisters, Carrie Grinch of Reynoldsville and Bonnie Bowman of Strattanville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Glenn Cummings. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Rehobeth Greenville Presbyterian Church. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. James Dietrich, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery following the memorial services. Isabelle Leota Cyphert Isabelle Leota Cyphert, 91, formerly of Carson Avenue and the Wabash Apartments in Oil City and Streetsboro, Ohio, died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare in Oil City following an extended illness. Born March 11, 1913, in Ninevah, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Blair Alabaugh. Mrs. Cyphert worked as a meat wrapper at the Pick and Pay Supermarket in Cleveland from 1955 through 1973. Shortly after retiring, the Cypherts moved to Oil City, where she was a crossing guard at Willow and Glenview for many years. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. Mrs. Cyphert loved her family with a passion and enjoyed her hobbies, which included embroidery, work puzzles, cooking and gardening. She was married Nov. 3, 1957, in Warren, Ohio, to John Cyphert. He preceded her in death March 6, 1992. Mrs. Cyphert is survived by a daughter, Margaret Stiller and her husband James of Oil City; three sons, Clifford E. Hower of Effort, Edward L. Hower of Lexington, N.C., and Michael Cyphert of Shalersville, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her second husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley A. Corle; a grandson, Tony Stiller; two infants, James A. Stiller and Ricky Carey; and her first husband, Merle J. Hower. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie Myers, Iva Wygant and Ann Hale; and five brothers and Roy, Norman, Lawrence, Clarence and Merle Alabaugh. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Byron K. Myers, pastor of the Grace United Methodist Church, presiding. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Sunset Hill Memorial Garden. Herman W. Fisher Herman W. Fisher, 83, of R.D. 1 Shippenville, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at his residence. Born April 15, 1921, at Ashland Township, he was the son of William Herman and Bertha May Etzel Fisher. Mr. Fisher served with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He received two Purple Hearts and several other decorations including the Bronze Star. He was a former PennDOT employee and worked in road construction with the Operators Engineers Local 66 until his retirement. Mr. Fisher was of the Protestant faith. He was an avid sportsman and hunter. Mr. Fisher married the former Phyllis Clark in 1947 and she died in 1970. He then married Lois Ritchey Levy in 1972 and she preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by three daughters, Judy Fisher of Oil City, Terry Church and her husband Junior of Bristol, Tenn. and Tammy Fisher of LaCrosse, Wis.; one son, Larry Fisher of Shippenville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Berkery and her husband Martin of Shippenville, Scott Anthony, Todd Anthony and his wife Tammy and Tom Kahl, all of Oil City, Jeff Church of Ohio and Jason Church of Bristol; nine great-grandchildren, Bubba, Alyssa, Brandon, Skylar, Danielle, Karly, Rylee, Nicole and Jesse; two sisters, Geraldine Woodburn of Pensacola, Fla., and Hazel Lamb of Smethport. In addition to his parents and wives, Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Dittman. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday in the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Poole, pastor of the Knox United Methodist Church, officiating. Alzora Ruth Wright Gray Alzora Ruth Wright Gray, 86, formerly of RD 1, Grand Valley, died at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at her daughter's residence in Toccoa, Ga., where she had lived the past several months. Born Sept. 14, 1918, in Spartansburg, she was the daughter of the late Muro and Jennie Patterson Wright. Mrs. Gray was a 1936 graduate of Corry High School. She received a master's degree in education from Edinboro State University. She taught in the Spring Creek Township school system, Oil City Area School District and the Elgin School District for more than 30 years. Following her retirement, she and her husband owned and operated Gray's Greenery in Grand Valley for 20 years. Mrs. Gray was a member of the Midway Alliance Church in Spartansburg where she was the organist and pianist. She was married Dec. 7, 1940, in Erie, to Melvin Gray, who now resides with their daughter in Toccoa. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gray is survived by two daughters, Sharon McDuffie and her husband Scott of Vancouver, Wash. and Marilyn Ongley and her husband Glenn of Toccoa; two sons, Gilbert Gray and his wife Linda of Macon, Ga. and Ronald Gray and his companion Judy Williams of Conneaut Lake; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Grover of Toccoa; two brothers, Archie Wright of Northeast and Warren Wright of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Glenn, Allan and Roy Wright; and one sister, Norma Vanderhoof. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gordon B. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Midway Alliance Church, RD 2, Spartansburg 16434 Donald Walter Haeberle Sr. Donald Walter Haeberle Sr., 68, of Strattanville, died unexpectedly at 12:10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at the Clarion Hospital. Born June 18, 1936, in Philadelphia, he was the son of Jacob and Jennie Simon Haeberle Sr. Mr. Haeberle graduated in 1954 from Delhaus High School in Bristol. He did a carpentry apprenticeship for four years with his father. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union No. 1462. He was a baptized Christian. He was an avid sportsman and past president of the Strattanville Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed baking sweet surprises for his wife and loved his children and grandchildren dearly. Mr. Haeberle was married Jan. 11, 1958, to the former Nancy Kane in the Methodist Church in Cornwell. They moved to Clarion in 1973. He is survived by his wife; three children, Donald Jr. and his wife Kathy of Virginia, Dennise Grant and her husband Kenneth of Tennessee, Darrell and his wife Yvette of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Donald III and Diana Haeberle of Virginia, James, Jennifer and Joshua Grant of Tennessee and Daniel, Ryan and William Frederick Haeberle (born Dec. 30) of New Castle. He is also survived by his best friend and companion, his dog Megan. Mr. Haeberle was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jacob Jr.; one infant brother; and one infant sister. Bonnie Jean Kell Bonnie Jean Kell, 43, 535 Colbert Ave., Oil City, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at UPMC Northwest Seneca. Born Dec. 18, 1961, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Vivian Beatty Kell. Miss Kell was a 1980 graduate of Oil City High School. She also graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in interior design. She lived in the Oil City area all of her life. Miss Kell was employed as an electrical assembler at Liberty Electronics in Franklin. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Oil City. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Randall Whitling of Oil City. Miss Kell was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Beatty. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hutchinson Funeral Home, 201 Bissell Ave., Oil City. Bucholz Lehnortt, 88, formerly of 2735 E. 31st St., Erie, also of North East, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Erie following an extended illness. Born May 25, 1916, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Matilda Sumosky Bucholz. Mrs. Lehnortt was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She attended St. James Roman Catholic Church in Erie and St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church in North East. She had been a member of St. Joseph Church while living in Oil City. Mrs. Lehnortt had been employed in the bakery of the F. W. Woolworth Co. in Oil City for 22 years. She left Oil City in June 1976, to live with her daughter. Mrs. Lehnortt was married Oct. 11, 1939, by the late P.J. Lynch at St. Joseph Church to Jacob (Jack) Lehnortt. He preceded her in death May 6, 1968. Among her survivors are a daughter, Sherrill Strain of North East; four grandchildren, Douglas, Mark and Scott Strain and Gail Carrier; 11 great-grandchildren, Heather, DJ, Jerry, Jake, Jim, Craig, Keith, Taylor, Jonathan, Jacob and Logan; a sister, Marie Elizabeth Johnson of the Oil City Presbyterian Home; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Nell Bucholz of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gordon Strain; two brothers, Leo F. and Robert J. Bucholz; and two sisters, Estelle Bouquin and Christine Milner. Diane Lynn Leshock Diane Lynn Leshock, 53, of 66 Sherman Height Road, Fairmount City, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at her residence. Born Nov. 22, 1951, in Brookville, she was the daughter of Also and May Salvadori Magagnotti. Mrs. Leshock was employed as a laborer for New Era Building System in Strattanville. She was a member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church in New Bethlehem. Mrs. Leshock enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was married July 7, 1970, to Jack G. Leshock and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Tracie Bowser and her husband Todd of Kittanning; a brother, Tom Magagnotti and his wife Pam of Seminole; two sisters, Jackie Crissman and her husband Jim of Rimersburg and Roxanne Schall and her husband Dennis of Seminole; one very special granddaughter, Trista Bowser; and her mother, Mary Magagnotti of Seminole. "Milly" Thompson, 87, a former resident of South Martin Street, Titusville, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Sarah Reed Retirement Center, Erie following an extended illness. Born May 2, 1917, in Mt. Jewett, she was a daughter of the late Henry J. and Amelia Paye Dewey. She was graduated from Mt. Jewett High School in 1935. Mrs. Thompson moved to Titusville with her husband in 1940 and resided there until December 2003 when she moved to the Sarah Reed Retirement Center to be closer to her grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was employed at Sylvania-Titusville Plant for 30 years. She was a member and past president of the Sylvania Employees Association, the Quarter Century Club and the Sylvania (GTE) Retirees Club. She was a member and past president of the Sylvania-Titusville Federal Credit Union and the Erie Chapter of Credit Union's Board of Directors. She was past president and an honorary lifetime member of the Titusville Red Cross board of directors and served as an honorary board member and representative of the Crawford County Community Council. Mrs. Thompson had also volunteered for many years at Titusville Area Hospital and was a member of the hospital auxiliary. She received the United Way's award as Outstanding Volunteer in 1987 and a special citation for exceptional service from the American Red Cross in 1989. On September 20, 1996, Mrs. Thompson received the Annual Catholic Charities Caritas Award given by the Diocese of Erie and bestowed upon her by Bishop Donald Trautman. The prestigious honor is awarded each year by the Catholic Charities Board of Directors to an individual who has displayed outstanding service to both their church parish and the community in which they reside. Mrs. Thompson was a member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church, Titusville, where she also served the church as a greeter and lector. She was a member of the altar rosary society and had served on the Christian services committee. She was married November 4, 1935, to Paul L. Thompson, who preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son, Dewey P. Thompson and his wife Beverly of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; eight grandchildren, Marsha, Jennifer, Mark, Paula Jo and Matthew Thompson and Linda Toussaint and her husband Taylor, Melda Frye and her husband Bill and Paul Glenn McKissick; a son-in-law, Gerald McKissick of Chambersburg; and two great-grandchildren Billy and Joe Frye of Chambersburg. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and a special friend, Connie Blotzer, of Erie. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by a daughter Marlene McKissick, who died in 2001; three sisters, Desire "Dolly" Dewey, Virginia Taft and Josephine L. Weber, 82, of 120 Iroquois Drive, Seneca, died at 12:31 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at his residence. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Second Presbyterian Church, 111 Reed St., Oil City. A complete obituary will be published in Tuesday's Derrick. Vanessa Nicole Wingard Vanessa Nicole Wingard was stillborn Dec. 31, 2004, in the Clarion Hospital. She was the daughter of Paul Jr. and Linda Brickey Wingard of Shippenville. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Paul and Beth Wingard of Shippenville; maternal grandparents Dorothy Brickey of Shippenville and Clifford Brickey of California; and numerous aunts and uncles. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to noon and from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Paul Winger Jr. residence, 184 Lauffer Road, Shippenville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox Public Library.
