Hi Bev. I don't know very much about my Evans family, but I will share what I know. My great grandmother Elizaeth L Evans was found in the 1850 Clarion Co. census, living with her mother Elizabeth Means Griffith, along with her brother David Evans. The names and birthdays of these two coincide with info that I have, I don't know who the Evans father was. Elizabeth was born in 1833. My mother and aunts talked of their grandmother coming to America on a boat from Wales; so I believe the father died in Wales and their mother married Thomas?Griffith in Wales.. The Griffith name tied in with what my mother and aunts talked about. Elizabeth married John/Jerry Bagnell; they had two daughters, Anne and Ida (my grandmother). Iam at a brickwall on John Bagnell. Elizabeth married a John Evans (from the Etna area of Pittsburgh) in the 1870's..John had a sister Mary who married ?Gray. They also lived in Pittsburgh,Pa. This probably doesn't fit into your picture, but perhaps someone out there will have a connection. Thank you for asking. Eunice
Hi Eunice, Thanks for the information. My EVANS appear to have been in the U.S. somewhat longer. However, the process of elimination with a common name like EVANS can help some. Did you know there's a EVANS list? Just subscribe to it like you did this one EVANS-L-request@rootsweb.com. It's very busy, but you just might get a hit. It's like kissing a lot of frogs before finding the price. Good luck, Bev in Calif. ----- Original Message ----- From: <C21eunice@aol.com> To: <PACLARIO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 17, 2005 7:33 PM Subject: Re: [CLARION] EVANS-Bev > Hi Bev. > I don't know very much about my Evans family, but I will share what I know. > > My great grandmother Elizaeth L Evans was found in the 1850 Clarion Co. > census, living with her mother Elizabeth Means Griffith, along with her brother > David Evans.
