Porter II, Wentlings Corners, Knox Mary Jane Stadler, Mentor, Ohio, native of Crown Caroline E. Sullivan Bold Caroline E. Sullivan Bold, 81, of Hampton Township, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at UPMC Passavant hospital in McCandless. Mrs. Bold graduated from Oil City High School in 1942. Among her survivors is her husband, Ernest J. Bold, whom she married on Feb. 17, 1945. Julia M. Coogan Julia M. Coogan, 97, of 73 Horne Lane, Oil City, formerly of Kenmore, N.Y., died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at UPMC Northwest following a short illness. Born April 11, 1907, in North Pine Grove, she was the daughter of the late Richard F. and Cecelia Cunningham Coogan. She attended the Hefren School at North Pine Grove, St. Joseph School, Oil City, and was a graduate of Welch Business School, Oil City. Miss Coogan worked for 16 years in the advertising department of Pennzoil in Oil City before moving to Buffalo, N.Y., in 1944, where she was employed by Bell Aircraft Corp. and Chevrolet Motor Co. In 1950, she became co-owner of the Judy Lynn Specialty Shop, which she operated until her retirement in 1968. While residing in Buffalo, she was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Kenmore, the Kenmore Mercy Hospital Guild, Catholic Business Women's Club of Buffalo, Women's First Friday Club of Buffalo and St. John senior citizen group. She was a past member of the Buffalo Board of Realtors. While residing in Oil City, she was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Prime Timers. She was the oldest living member of St. Joseph Church. Miss Coogan was an avid reader. She loved to take walks and was very fond of her niece's dog, Mickey. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and their families. She kept in contact with them and was very interested in their lives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Francis (Frank), John A., Norbert, Charles and James Coogan; four sisters, Edith Sullivan, Elizabeth Stack, Ella Gregory and Mary C. Smith; and her dear friend, Mildred Leising, with whom she made her home in Kenmore. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Reinsel Funeral Home, 116 Bissell Ave., Oil City. Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church. Msgr. Robert J. Smith, vicar general of the Erie Diocese and nephew of Miss Coogan, will be the main celebrant along with Msgr. John W. Swoger, pastor of St. Joseph Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Joseph Church Development Fund. Wanda Lee Evans Wanda Lee Evans, 74, of 239 South St., Clarion, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in her home after a brief illness. Born Dec. 28, 1930, she was the daughter of Ethel Henderson Seger and Samuel Walter Kenley. She was a graduate of Rural Valley schools. Mrs. Evans worked for G. C. Murphy Co. in Clarion for 19 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clarion for 54 years and was a past member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Evans was happiest spending time with her family, and she enjoyed sewing, making flower arrangements and gardening. She was married March 28, 1950, to Roy Russell Evans, who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Gordon Roy Evans and his wife, Vera (Renwick) of Knox, Jan Lee Meck and her husband, Keith, of Macungie, and Douglas Kent Evans and his wife, Tammy (Zeitler), of Shippenville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Scott Evans and his wife, Lisa (Rhoades), of Hermitage, Jared Evans and his friend, Mellissa Crispin, of Shippenville, Brianna Evans of Knox, Douglas and Jennifer Meck of Macungie, Christy Wolbert and her husband, Randy, of Lucinda, Kelly Evans, serving with the U.S. Army in Germany, and Brandy Evans of Shippenville; and three great-grandchildren, Hanna Catherine and Mia Joy Evans of Hermitage and Zachery Thomas Wolbert of Lucinda. She is also survived by her stepmother, Edith Riley of St. Cloud, Fla.; a sister, Mary Jane McElhoes of Alexandria; a half-sister, Joan Bernstein and her husband, Ron, of Cleveland, Ohio; a half-brother, Eugene Kenley and his wife, Brenda, of Marienville; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no public visitation. Funeral services for family and friends will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Goble Funeral Home, 330 Wood St., Clarion, with the Rev. Arnold A. Ford Jr., 75, of Walnut Street, Emlenton, died at 8:28 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 20, 1929, in Butler, he was the son of Dr. William E. and Kathryn R. Meddiker Ford. Mr. Ford was a 1947 graduate of Emlenton High School and graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in business. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. A longtime Emlenton businessman, Mr. Ford was a partner and owner of the Emlenton Truck Plaza as well as the owner of the Emlenton Motor Inn. He was also partner, owner and sales representative with the former Grafo Colloids, now known as Fuchs Lubricants Co., in Emlenton. Mr. Ford was a member of Emlenton Presbyterian Church and Foxburg Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing, and he was also a Civil War history enthusiast. He is survived by a number of cousins including Donald H. Palmer of Franklin, Richard J. Palmer of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Patricia Leach of Indianapolis and Doris Alexander of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are two longtime friends and caregivers, Jeffrey Carr of Emlenton and SonChu Campbell of Eau Claire; and many good friends. Mr. Ford was preceded in death by his father on April 2, 1971, and his mother on Dec. 12, 1995. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hile Funeral Home, 1204 Kerr Ave., Emlenton. Gehr Marjorie L. Gehr, 93, formerly of 726 Wilson Ave., Franklin, died at 2:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, in The Caring Place. Born Jan. 18, 1912, in Franklin, she was the daughter of John J. and Mary Doherty Logue. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Franklin. Mrs. Gehr held several positions in her working career. She worked at General Manifold & Printing Co., J.T. Campbells and the Virginia Morse Shop. She retired from the laundry department at Polk Center in 1977. Mrs. Gehr also sold Avon, Bee Line Clothing and Sarah Coventry cosmetics at various times. She was a member of St. Patrick Church, the Rosary Altar Society and the C.D.A. She was active in the Women of the Moose 669 and the College of Regents. She held many offices in the College of Regents, including state senior regent. She was also a member of the Eagles and VFW auxiliaries and the Cooties, a hospital visitation group of the VFW. Mrs. Gehr is survived by two sisters, Mrs. James (Kathleen) Hogan of Longmont, Colo., and Mrs. Robert (Mary Margaret) Mahaffey of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John E. and James V. Logue. There will be no visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church at a later time to be announced. Myra Pyle Maier Myra Pyle Maier, 91, formerly of 215 Pierce Ave., Oil City, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at The Caring Place. Born Aug. 20, 1913, in McClintockville, she was the daughter of the late Ernest R. and Eva Dunlap Pyle. Mrs. Maier graduated from Oil City High School and trained at St. Ann Hospital Nursing School in Cleveland to become a pediatric nurse. She retired from J.C. Penney in 1977 after 27 years as a sales clerk. Mrs. Maier was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Mary Circle. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed doing volunteer work for Community Ambulance Service and knitting clothing for premature babies for her church. Mrs. Maier was married Jan. 6, 1937, to Edward J. Maier, who preceded her in death in 1978. She is survived by a son, Edward E. Maier and his wife, Wilberta, of Murrysville; and two grandchildren, Sharon Ellen Maier of New York City and Gary Edward Maier of Murrysville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian Fry, her twin, Marie Cameron, and Mary Etta Oakes; and two brothers, Ray and Eugene Pyle. There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin, with the Rev. Kenneth Peters officiating. Donald F. Porter II Donald F. Porter II, 49, of Wentlings Corners, Knox, died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2005, at Town and Country Hospital in Tampa, Fla. Mary Jane Culp Stadler Mary Jane Culp Stadler, 76, of Mentor, Ohio, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby, Ohio. Born April 2, 1928, in Crown, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel Culp. Mrs. Stadler was a homemaker. She attended St. Bede the Venerable Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stadler is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leonard; five children, Jack Stadler and his wife, Suzanne, and Mary Rose Armitage, all of Painesville Township, Ohio, Jerry Stadler and his wife, Peggy, of Austinburg, Ohio, Bernard Stadler of Mentor and Debbi Anderson and her husband, Jesse, of Concord; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two sisters and four brothers. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
