Hill, 21 W. Fifth St., Oil City Barbara Barlett Roydes, Franklin Arthur C. VanNort, Marienville Louis D. Wieder, Titusville Russell Wood, Clearwater, Fla., Sugarcreek native Dorothy Ellen Buchholz, 86, of Oil City, died at 8:50 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2007, in her residence surrounded by her children who loved her. Born March 21, 1921, in Titusville, she was the daughter of Oren Clifford Shaffer Sr. and Alice May Burnett Shaffer. Mrs. Buchholz was a lifelong Methodist, a member of the board of directors of Shaw Farm Cemetery and a member of the Plummer Ladies Aid Society. She was an avid nature lover who enjoyed living on her farm for more then 40 years, sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking and spending timer with her family, friends, neighbors and her little chow dog, Chiang. Mrs. Buchholz first was married to Alfred R. Ricke, who was killed Aug. 19, 1944, while serving his country. Her second husband was Louis Grant Kurschinske, who died April 9, 1955. Her third husband, Edward A. Buchholz, preceded her in death Sept. 5, 1994. Surviving are five daughters and their spouses, Maryalyce and Bill Lupher of Titusville, Eileen and Gale Radcliff of Strasburg, Colo., Audrey and Gary Jewell of Seneca, Linda and Ron Dolecki of Huntingtown, Md., and Claudia and Ray Shreffler of Oil City; two sons, Neil Kurschinske of Seneca and L. Louis Kurschinske of Oil City; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a sister, Norma Weber of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and three husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Oren Clifford Shaffer Jr.; and a great-grandson, Nathan Lupher. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Osenider Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Marshall Dalmaso, a retired Methodist minister, officiating. Interment will be in Shaw Farm Cemetery, Cornplanter Township. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to VNA Hospice, 176 E. Danica Lynn Buckley Danica Lynn Buckley of East Main Street, Clarion, died shortly after birth Sunday, July 1, 2007, in UPMC Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007, and died at 1 a.m. Sunday, July 1. She was the daughter of Brian David Buckley and Crystal Neiswonger, both of Clarion. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Nickolas Daniel Neiswonger of Clarion; paternal grandparents, Loren and Linda Buckley of Emlenton; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Daniel and Bonnie Trayer Custer. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rimersburg Cemetery with the Rev. Valinda L. Custer, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy in Waynesburg, officiating. Interment will follow in Rimersburg Cemetery. The Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg is in charge of arrangements. Joyce Ann Conrad, 48, of 109 Harriott Ave., Oil City, died Monday evening, July 2, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Feb. 28, 1959, she was a daughter of Leonard and Genevieve L. Mock Conrad. Ms. Conrad attended Oil City schools and at one time ran a daycare out of her home. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Surviving are her longtime companion, Johnny Joseph Guyda; a son, Joshua Allan Conrad of Oil City; a daughter, Jessica Lynn Conrad of Oil City; a granddaughter, Aaliyah Genevieve Nissly of Oil City; a son-in-law, Bryan Nissly; a daughter-in-law, Jessica Baker; three sisters, Deanna Lee Reisinger of Franklin, Linda Louise Fentress and husband, Charles, and Janet Owens and husband, Curtis, all of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda Sue Conrad, and a brother-in-law, William Reisinger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Interment will be in Heckathorn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to family to help with expenses. Richard P. Darling, 62, of 1073 Liberty St., Meadville , died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at his home. Born Oct. 5, 1944, in Meadville, he was a son of Perry W. and Mildred Davenport Darling. Mr. Darling was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Marine Corps. He was married Dec. 12, 1980, to Katheryn M. Scannell, who preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1989. Mr. Darling was a truck driver most of his life, driving for Hubbard Bus Service, the Crawford Area Transportation Authority as well as an over-the-road driver. He was a practical joker, always keeping everyone laughing. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Surviving are his wife, Beatrice, of Meadville; five sons, Jeffrey Darling and wife, Donna, of Louisville, Ga., Todd Darling of Meadville, Brain Darling and wife, Stacey, of Saegertown, and Ellis Munson and Daniel Munson, both of Meadville; a daughter, Stacy Sackett and husband, David, of Pierpont, Ohio; and 17 grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan, Rebecca, Cody, Kyle, Zachary, Brandon, Briceson, Tyler Marie, Misty, Richie, Tanner, Jimmy, Jeremy, Christopher, Tyquail and Shawn. In addition to his parents and wife, Katheryn, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tracey Darling. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Robert W. Barbara Barlett Roydes Barbara Barlett Roydes, 79, of Franklin, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, in her residence. Born March 24, 1928, in Oil City, she was the daughter of William D. and A. Luceille Barlett Roydes. She was a 1946 graduate of Oil City High School and attended Margaret Morrison Carnegie College and Welch's Business College, Oil City. Miss Roydes was employed as a legal secretary for Attorney William E. Breene, who was general counsel for several years of the National Transit Pipeline Co. She enjoyed financial investing, history, music and spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. Surviving is a sister, Rona L. Roydes of Franklin. She was preceded in death by her parents. There will be no visitation. Private family services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City, with the Rev. Jack Friggle, associate pastor emeritus of Grace United Methodist Church, Oil City, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery. VanNort, 73, of Marienville, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2007, in his home. Born Aug. 28, 1933, in Cooperstown, N.Y., he was the son of Arthur C. and Mildred Dowell VanNort. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Tripoli. Mr. VanNort was a math and science teacher and guidance counselor at East Forest High School, Marienville, and later became principal of the East Forest Elementary and Secondary School. He was a member of the Marienville United Methodist Church. Mr. VanNort was a member of the Masonic Acacia Lodge No. 633, F. & A.M,, where he served as master for three terms. He also was a member of the Coudersport Consistory and served as District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District No. 56. On June 1, 1957, he was married in the Marienville United Methodist Church to the former Beverly Taft, who survives. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are three daughters and one son: Mrs. Kimberly Labbate and husband, Larry, of Little Rock, Ark., Pamela VanNort of San Diego, Calif., Chris VanNort and wife, Kelly, of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Kyle Durbin and husband, James, of Annandale, Va.; three grandchildren, Craig and Kasey Labbate and Scott Durbin; and a brother, David VanNort, of Meadville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ardeth Summers and Mildred "Dusty" Snyder; and one brother, Alan D. VanNort. Wieder, 87, of 32 Pershing Way, Titusville, died at 11:41 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Titusville, where he had been a resident since June 26. Born Nov. 25, 1919, in New York City, he was a son of Samuel and Augusta Teig Wieder. Mr. Wieder attended James Monroe High School in New York City. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in November 1945. Mr. Wieder was co-owner of the former Teig and Co. Furniture Store in Titusville from 1946 until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Tree of Life Synagogue in Oil City. Mr. Wieder also was a member of the Titusville Lions Club and was a charter member of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW. He enjoyed walking, spending time with his children and grandchildren and telling World War II stories. Mr. Wieder was married in Erie June 1, 1952, to Dorothy Trax, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Samuel Wieder and wife, Jacqueline, of Greensburg, William Wieder and wife, Vicky, of Pleasantville and Susan Drake of Titusville; four grandchildren, Jason and Sarah Drake and Megan and Michael Wieder; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mac Wieder and Mike Wieder; and a sister, Gertrude Stein. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. Russell Wood, 92, of 1028 Iroquois St., Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Sugarcreek, died at 8:29 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2007, at 100 Pine Needles Circle, Daytona, Beach, Fla. Born May 4, 1915, in Sugarcreek, he was the son of Frank and Ethel Burns Wood. Mr. Wood was retired from Taylor-Winfield Inc. of Warren, Ohio, where he was a mechanical engineer. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Clearwater, Fla. Mr. Wood was married to Florence E. Proper, who preceded him in death. Surviving are three children, Robert E. Wood of Clearwater. Fla., Donald H. Wood and wife, June, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Raymond F. Wood of Largo, Fla.; three grandchildren, Roxanne DeCelles and husband, Eric, of Brandon, Fla., Donald H. Wood Jr. and wife, Rebecca, of St. Augustine, Fla., and Michelle Evans of Warren, Ohio; and six great-grandchildren, Natalie, Hannah, Madison, Regan, Brittany and Hillary. Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Price officiating. Interment will be in Cooperstown.
