Born Oct. 17, 1934, in Perry Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Raymond "Teddy" and Edna Callendar Kriebel. Mrs. Booher had worked for 10 years at Glass Containers Inc. in Parker and left her job to be at home and raise a family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and she always looked forward to having coffee with her aunt, Mrs. Rod (Pearl) Callendar Best of St. Petersburg. She was married Dec. 8, 1953, to Theodore "Teddy" Booher, who survives, along with four children, Mrs. Harry (Kathie) Sutton of Boyers, Todd Booher and wife, Valeria, of Fairview, Mrs. Lewis (Susan) Carr of Harrisville and Robert "Robbie" Booher and wife, Melinda, of St. Petersburg; eight grandchildren, Chris McHenry of Fenelton, Ashley Sutton of Boyers, Mrs, Justin (Janie) Carr Martin of Harrisville, Alana, Lucas, and Devin Booher of Fairview, and Amanda and Cole Booher of St. Petersburg; and two stepgrandchildren, Alfred Sutton of Penn Township and Dana Sutton of Butler. In addition to her parents Mrs. Booher was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and George "Tink" Kriebel; a sister, Rosella "Pat" Kriebel Harnish; a nephew, James Kriebel; a grandson, Heath Sutton; and a son-in-law, Lewis Carr. Helen Marie Byers Helen Marie Byers, 78, of Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, a lielong resident of Parker, died of a sudden illness Tuesday evening, July 10, 2007, in Clarion Hospital. Gladys Marie Rice Corner Gladys Marie Rice Corner, 93, of 183 W. Adams St., Cochranton, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, in her residence. Born Dec. 29, 1913, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Burris W. and Mary Ellen Blair Rice. Mrs. Corner had been a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Cochranton since 1952. She was also a member of the Wynmor Club of Carlton for many years. She was a member of the "Young at Heart" group at the Meadville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and played the organ there for many years. Mrs. Corner loved music, especially the older hymns. She enjoyed being with her family and friends and writing many letters to people in nursing homes or ill at home. Mrs. Corner was married Dec. 29, 1932, to Edward Corner, who preceded her in death in April 1989. Surviving are five children, Jean Peterson and husband, Doyle, of Conneaut Lake, James Corner of Meadville, Harold Corner and wife, Zdena, of Cochranton, Edward Corner and wife, Tracy, of Hurtsboro, Ala., and Gladys Marie Ashbaugh of Cochranton, with whom she had lived since 2001; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, the Rev. George W. Rice and wife, Edith, of Olathe, Kans.; and a sister, Beula E. Rice Jones and husband, Jim, of New Wilmington. Condolences can be e-mailed to [email protected] Benedictine Sister Nora Curran, formerly of Oil City, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at her home, Mount Saint Benedict Monastery, Erie, after a long illness. Born in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Anna Kresinske Curran and received her early education in St. Joseph Parish schools, Oil City. Sister Nora entered the Benedictine Sisters of Erie in 1943 and graduated from St. Benedict Academy the following year. She made her final profession as a Benedictine Sister Aug. 28, 1947, and had celebrated her 25th, 50th and 60th anniversaries of her profession. She was an accomplished teacher whose education included a bachelor of arts degree is social studies, English and Spanish from Villa Maria College, Erie, and a master of arts degree in Spanish literature from the International University, Saltillo, Mexico, where she later served as dean of women. Her post graduate studies included work at Gannon, Fordham and Georgetown universities. She also received a Fulbright grant for study at the Cartagena University, Bogota, Columbia. Sister Nora taught in several parish elementary schools: St. Mary's, Erie; St. Joseph, Oil City; St. Joseph, Sharon; St. Joseph, Oil City; St. Gregory, North East; and St. Joseph, Sharon. She later taught at St. Joseph and Venango Christian High schools in Oil City and at St. Benedict Academy, Erie. After her service in education, Sister Nora's ministry came to be centered in her deep concern for the poor, especially for the poor in Latin America, whom she served for nearly 30 years in Saltillo, Mexico, and in Cali, Columbia, as teacher, mentor and friend. She returned in recent years to Mount Saint Benedict where her love for the poor continued to be manifested in her monastic life. In addition to her parents, Sister Nora was preceded in death by her sisters, Winifred Toy, Marie Diamond and Martha Curran; and by her brothers, Joseph and Frank Curran. Denslinger, 80, of lifelong resident of Fryburg, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, surrounded by his family in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 23, 1926, he was the son of Aloysius and Bertha Siegel Denslinger. Mr. Denslinger worked as a self-employed farmer and retired in 1999 from PennDOT. He drove car No. 333 at the half mile dirt track in Shippenville from 1949 to 1950. Mr. Denslinger served in the Navy from Oct. 13, 1950, to Nov. 19, 1953. He was assigned to the USS Columbus Heavy Cruiser during the Korean War and served in the European Theater. While in the military he achieved the rank of Boatswain Mate 3rd Class. He was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg, a member of the Fryburg Sportman Club where he served as secretary for seven years and was a member of St. Michael Society for 10 years. Mr. Denslinger was an honorary member of the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was married June 12, 1954, to Patricia Rodgers, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Richard Denslinger and wife, Sharon, of Fryburg, Debra Zacherl of Clarion and Lori Smith and husband, Butch, of Clarion; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He also is survived by one brother, Carl Denslinger of Parker; and two sisters, Helen Hoover of Fryburg and Blanche Aaron of Oil City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald P. Denslinger, in 1961; and two brothers, Walter Denslinger and Donnie Denslinger. Bob Gatesman, 66, of Marblehead, Ohio, formerly of Oil City, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, in Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. Born Feb. 27, 1941, in Oil City, he was the son of Robert P. and Martha Altman Gatesman. Mr. Gatesman worked as a cabinet maker, owning and operating Gatesman Kitchens. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved to travel, especially his trip to Alaska and his many trips to Las Vegas. Mr. Gatesman married Sally Mulchin April 4, 1965, and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Heidi L. Fries and husband, Thomas, of Marblehead, Ohio, Rene Davis of Warren, Pa., and Jill Harris and husband, Ronald, of Brewerton, N.Y.; a son, Randy Gatesman and wife, Karen, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and grandchildren, Christopher, Lauren, Alex, Maxx, Camie, Vivian, Curtis, Melinda and Erin. Wade C. Kinch, 78, of Tionesta, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, in his home. Born Nov. 4, 1928, in Kellettville, he was the son of the late Orie C. and Mary C. Dunkle Kinch. Mr. Kinch graduated from Tionesta High School. He served in the U.S. Navy as a fireman during World War II. Mr. Kinch was employed most of his working career at Tionesta Beverage until retirement. He attended the Tionesta Church of God. Mr. Kinch was a member of the Tidioute VFW Post No. 8803. He enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Kinch first was married July 25, 1953, to Janet J. Kinch, who preceded him in death. On June 5, 1998, he married Helen M. Johnston McWilliams, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, LuAn K. Horan and husband, Gary, of Glenside; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; three stepdaughters, Marilyn M. Baine and husband, Douglas, of Salem, W.Va., Kathy J. McFarland, 26, of Lake Lucy, Tionesta, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident. Born July 28, 1980, in Oil City, he was the son of Kevin L. McFarland of Lucinda and Laura J. Snyder of Marienville. Mr. McFarland was employed as an equipment operator for IA Corp. of Warren, PA. He was a member of St. Mary Church, Crown, and the Fryburg Sportsman Club. In addition to spending time with family and friends Mr. McFarland enjoyed motorcycle riding, golfing, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, hunting and target shooting. In addition to his parents he is survived by his 4-year-old son, Kaden, of Marienville; his fiance,, Tammy Freeman, of Lake Lucy; his stepfather, Bob Snyder of Marienville; a sister, Chellsi McFarland of Strattanville; a brother, Sgt. Bryan McFarland of Hillsboro, Ore.; two stepsisters, Breanne Slater and Randi Millward, both of Marienville; and two stepbrothers, Bobby Snyder and Corey Snyder, both of Marienville. Also surviving is his paternal grandmother, Patricia McFarland of Lucinda; his maternal grandparents, Walter "Punk" and Jean Kingston of Tionesta; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ken McFarland, and his paternal great-grandparents, Ken and Dorothy McFarland. Raymond LeRoy Mong, 75, of 231 Bullion Road, Kennerdell, died at 3:32 a.m. Sunday, July 15, 2007 at UPMC Northwest. Born Sept. 23, 1931, he was the son of Esther Kimes and Benjamin C. Mong. Mr. Mong was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the 7th Infantry Division. He earned a purple heart. He was employed by Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., retiring in 1982 after 33 years of service as a final inspector. He was a member of Myrtle Lodge F&AM #316, BPOE #110, American Legion #476, VFW Post #464, Oil City, Mercer County Disabled American Veterans #55, 7th Infantry Division Association, Franklin Moose #83, Past President of Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, CPT Quarter Century Club. He was also a Little League manager of Franklin Service and Supply team and an ASA Little League umpire. On Sept. 4, 1982, he married Joyce Baker, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Greg A. Rodgers, 96, formerly of 107 E. Second St., Oil City, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 in The Caring Place, Franklin. Born Aug. 9, 1910 in Rocky Grove, he was the son of the late Frank Duane and Clara N. Minnis Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers lived in the Oil City area most of his life. He was employed for 23 years as a laborer with Chicago Pneumatic Tool in Franklin, retiring at the age of 65. On Aug. 3, 1957, he was married to Ellen Mae Andrews who preceded him in death on June 17, 1999. Mr. Rodgers was a member of the Oil City Community Alliance Church. He was very active with the Oil City Senior Citizen Center. While staying at The Caring Place, he attended church services there and was a member of the bell choir. He is survived by two daughters, Ella Mae and her husband, Ernest R. "Buck" Butryn of Oil City and Anita Ann Wilson of Lancaster; a sister, Ruth Koziara of Franklin; five grandchildren, Melissa and her husband, Ryan Gerlach, of Lancaster, Bradley E. Wilson of Florida, Christine M. Nies of Cooperstown, David M. Butryn of Cresson and Thomas M. Butryn of Meadville; nine great grandchildren, Joshua W. Gerlach of Lancaster, Bradley E. "Marty" Schwabenbauer, 79, formerly of 637 Tarr Road, Titusville , died Saturday, July 14, 2007, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin, following an extended illness. Born Oct. 24, 1927, in Driftwood, she was the daughter of the late Robin and Helen Dobson Hart. She was a 1945 of Oil City High School. Mrs. Schwabenbauer had been employed for many years as a bus driver for the Oil City School District. She also had been employed briefly at the former Isaly's Store in Oil City . She was married in Oil City May 3, 1947, to Howard W. "Bill" Schwabenbauer, who preceded her in death April 15, 2001. Surviving are three children, William H. Schwabenbauer of Titusville, Judy McCain of Virginia and Marty Wrhen and husband, David, of Rocky Grove; and four grandchildren, Matt McCain, Shannon Wrhen and Amy and Ashley Schwabenbauer. She also is survived by three brothers, Robin D. Hart and wife, Joanne, and David Hart and wife, Judy, all of Oil City, and Larry Hart of Brooklyn, Conn.; four sisters, Rebecca L. Pertz and husband, Don, and Claribel Fritz and husband, Bob, all of Oil City, Helen McClintock and husband, Larry, of Brooklyn, Conn., and Mary Moyer of Grove City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
