"Theda' Kenemuth , getting it right Garrett Scott George, 10, of 401 W. Walnut St., Titusville, died Wednesday evening, July 4, 2007, following a swimming accident. Born Oct. 21, 1996, in Titusville, he was the son of Melissa Winans and Kevin N. George Sr. Garrett completed the fourth grade at Pleasantville Elementary School. He enjoyed playing basketball, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and professional wrestling, bicycling, swimming and playing with his dogs. Survivors include his mother of Titusville; his father of Ashtabula, Ohio; two brothers, Kessley N. Winans and Kevin N. George Jr., both of Titusville; maternal grandparents, Linda Allen of Titusville and her companion, Bill Henderson, of Pleasantville, LeRoy Winans and his companion, Sue Gordon, of Emlenton and Gary and Cynthia Motter of Titusville; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Cheryl George of Pittsburgh; and maternal great-grandparents, Thomas and Mildred Prody of Cooperstown. He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, John Motter and his pet dog, Fantasy. Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home by Gordon Turk of the Hydetown Baptist Church. Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery. Garrett was an organ and tissue donor. Born Thursday, June 13, 1929, in Titusville, she was the daughter of Joseph Carl and Mary McClintock Lorenz. Prior to her retirement in 1985, Mrs. Hawkins had been employed as a registered nurse at Westmoreland Manor in Greensburg. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of St. Michael of the Valley Church in Rector and the Women's Bible Coffee of the church. She had been a former chairman of St. Michael Fair. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Charles W. Hawkins. Also surviving are three daughters, Amy Hahn and husband, James, of Brewster, N.Y., Eleanor Clark and husband, Carl, of Berlin, Pa., and Sally Harvey and husband, Frank, of Derry; three sons, Charles W. Hawkins III of Robinson, Ill., John H. Hawkins and wife, Cynthia, of Elgin, Texas, and Joseph H. Hawkins and wife, Tammy, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and eight grandchildren. Hays, 85, of Piney Dam Road, Clarion, died Thursday evening, July 5, 2007, in the emergency room of Clarion Hospital. The Goble Funeral Home and Crematory of Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The Derrick. James A. Oliver, 70, of Tionesta, formerly of Washington County, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, in his home. Born Oct. 9, 1936, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late William H. and Bella Oliver. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Oliver retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Mount Washington, Pittsburgh, where he served as a deacon. He also was a member of the Masons and Shriners organizations. Mr. Oliver was an avid fisherman, enjoyed cars and loved his dog, Emma. He was married in Pittsburgh Oct. 29, 1990, to Donna A. Flavell, who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Ida Manning of Orange Grove, Calif.; one nephew and three nieces. In addition to his parents, Mr. Oliver was preceded in death by a brother, William Oliver. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service, open to friends, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Tionesta Presbyterian Church with Pastor Peter Veltman officiating. Walls, 69, of 520 W. Hemlock St., Titusville, died at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in the Eastern Maine Medical Center. He had been on vacation with his family in Bangor, Maine, at the time of his death. Born Oct. 8, 1937, in Titusville, she was the son of the late Wilbur R. and Helen Patterson Walls. He was a graduate of Townville High School. Mr. Walls was employed as a machinist at Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. until his retirement in 1997. He was baptized at the Hydetown Baptist Church . Mr. Walls was a member of the Cytemp Quarter Century Club, a social member of the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, Moose Club and B.P.O Elks No. 264. He enjoyed reading, doing the daily crossword puzzle with his wife, Sue, preparing gourmet dinners for his family, fishing, target shooting and traveling to see his family. Surviving are his wife, Suzanne Dowling Walls, of Titusville; five daughters, Guendolyn Lawhorn and husband, Roger, of Rock Spring, Ga., the Rev. Valerie Viars and husband, the Rev. Herbert Viars, and Gayle McGuire and husband, James, all of Prineville, Ore., Brandi Dowling and companion, Ron Hannah, and Kara Dowling and companion, Dan Hawk, all of Titusville; 11 grandchildren, Steven Lawhorn of Ringgold, Ga., Gary Markham of Warrenton, Va., Kristin Lawhorn of Rock Spring, Ga, Jessica Brill, Jason Cagle, Amanda McGuire all of Prineville, Ore., Elizabeth McGuire of Bend, Ore., James McGuire of Lawrence, Kans., Tori Prenatt, Kelsee Hawk and Mary Hawk, all of Titusville; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren on the way. He also is survived by one brother, W. Roy Walls Jr. and wife, Rose, of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Marie Koon and Pam Holcomb and husband, Robert, all of Titusville; and his only surviving aunt, Cleda Holliday of Grantsville, Md. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army. Richard D. "Doug" Williams II, 45, of Harriott Avenue, Oil City, died Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at his home after a sudden illness. Born Jan. 15, 1962, in Brookville, he was the son of Richard D. and Carol "Jean" Daugherty Williams. He was a graduate of Oil City High School. Mr. Williams was employed as a lumber inspector at Taylor-Ramsey in Titusville. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Williams was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and golfing, especially with his father. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two daughters, Shannon Coon and husband, Josh, of Reno and Ashley Williams of Oil City; one sister, Debbie Smith and husband, Greg, and one nephew, Brandon Smith, all of Ephrata; paternal grandmother, Helen Williams of Summerville; his ex-wife and mother of his daughters, Tammy Williams of Oil City; and a special friend, Shawnette Neeley of Titusville. Mr. Williams was expecting his first granddaughter, Kaileigh Elizabeth Coon, later this month. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Larry E. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Fern, with the Rev. Mark Micklos, pastor, and the Rev. Lynton Perry, her nephew, officiating.
