Page, Foxburg Mary Louise Seifert, New Bethlehem Edna Mae Sumoske, formerly of Moran Towers and Luther Place, Oil City Aaron Luke Mercer , getting it right Sarah Jane "Sue" Blum, 89, formerly of East Eighth Street and Vo Tech Drive, Oil City, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, in The Golden Living Center, Oil City. Born June 7, 1918, in Oil City, she was the daughter of William and Melvina Winger Slater. Mrs. Blum was a 1937 graduate of Oil City High School. She retired in 1981 from the Oil City School District and later worked at Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City. Mrs. Blum was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oil City. On March 17, 1939, she married John Frederick "Fred" Blum Jr., who preceded her in death Aug. 26, 1992. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Blum was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Jill Blum in 1947; five sisters; and three brothers. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph E. Filer IV, D. Min., pastor of the Oil City First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church or to a charity of one's choice. Mario G. Bulsei Mario G. Bulsei, 66, a well-known resident of Woodside at Polk Center, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in Polk Center. Born Nov. 12, 1940, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Mario and Giovanna Marinelli Bulsei. Mr. Bulsei had various jobs at Polk Center and had many friends, both staff and residents. He was a devout Catholic and regularly attended Mass at Polk Center. For many years, Mr. Bulsei was very active in Special Olympics. Mr. Bulsei enjoyed camping, magazines and puzzle books. He found joy in everything in life and was known for his smiles and laughter. Surviving are two sisters, Marry Gatti of Erie and Catherine Nedzeski of Pittsburgh. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at noon Monday in St. Agatha Cemetery in Bridgeville. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Polk Center. The Huff Chapel in Franklin is in charge of arrangements. Wayne A. Gruber, 76, of Knox, died Friday morning, July 20, 2007, in Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Sligo. Born Aug. 2, 1930, in Knox, he was a son of the late Gerald V. and Bertha Amsler Gruber. Mr. Gruber was a four-year veteran of the United States Navy and was stationed at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Fla., as an air traffic controller. He retired from Knox Glass. Mr. Gruber was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Knox. He also was a member of the American Legion of Knox, the Knox Volunteer Fire Co. and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Gruber enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and woodworking. On Jan. 2, 1952, he married the former Shirley A. Weeter, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Karen Nelms and husband, Steven, of Franklin, Brenda Gruber and James McCarthy of Harrisburg, Carla Magrini and husband, Tim, of Clarion and Kimberly Kozik and husband, Bob, of Erie; one son, Todd Gruber and wife, Deanna, of Knox; and eight grandchildren, Katie Nelms, Elizabeth Nelms, Sarah Magrini, Rachel Magrini, Alyssa Kozik, Kyle Kozik, Danielle Larrow and Emma Gruber. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gruber was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Vaughn Gruber. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the William N. Rupert Mortuary Inc. in Knox, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the church with the Rev. Page, 77, of Summit Avenue, Foxburg, died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Clarion, following a brief illness. Born July 1, 1930, in St. Petersburg, Clarion County, he was the son of John Page and Opal Grazier Page Clawges. Mr. Page had earned a master's degree in education at Westminster College and had earned his bachelor of science degree in education from Clarion College, now Clarion University. He was a 1948 graduate of Parker City High School. He was a veteran of both the United States Navy and the United States Army. Mr. Page taught junior high mathematics for several years in Parker and was employed for more than 25 years as a manager with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in Kittanning before retiring in 1987. He was affiliated with the Foxburg United Methodist Church. Mr. Page was a long-time member and treasurer of the Foxburg Volunteer Fire Co. He was a member of the Foxburg American Legion Post No. 636 and had served the post as both commander and treasurer. He belonged to Canby Lodge No. 520, F&AM, in St. Petersburg, and he had served as treasurer of the lodge. He enjoyed golfing and had been a member of the Foxburg Country Club. He also enjoyed hunting, music and his dog, Smokey. He was said to have had a wry sense of humor. Mr. Page was married in Parker Aug. 5, 1951, to Margaret Ann Seybert, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, leeCoral Adams of Shippenville; three sons. John R. Page of Shippenville, W. Brian Page and wife, Angela, of Foxburg and Robert C. Page and wife, Kara, of Pittsburgh; and two grandsons, Ian S. Adams and wife, Miranda, and Nathan K. Page. He also is survived by a sister-in-law, Martha Page of Foxburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Page was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Page. Mary Louise Seifert, 82, of New Bethlehem, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, in Brookville. Born Dec. 19, 1924, in Kittanning, she was the daughter of Harry A. and Sabina Mooney Seifert. She received her bachelor of science in education degrees in 1946 in secondary social studies and geography and a minor in English from Clarion State Teachers College. While a student at the college, she served as secretary of the Young Women's Christian Association, president and vice president of the Woman's Athletic Council, assistant editor of the Sequelle and was a member of Delta Sigma Epsilon and the choir treasurer. Ms. Seifert was a history and geography teacher for 35 years at Edison Junior High School in West Mifflin. She was a life-long advocate for Clarion University, with at least 18 members of her extended family graduating from Clarion. She received the Distinguished Service Award of the Clarion University Alumni Association in 1998. A century of family dedication to Clarion University was recently honored with the naming of the "Seifert-Mooney Center for the Advancement of Clarion University" by the Council of Trustees at its May 10 meeting. Ms. Seifert created six endowment funds and supported nine other endowment and project funds at Clarion University. She was a member of the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Clarion University Alumni Association, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Delta Zeta Sorority and the Clarion County Historical Society. Ms. Seifert was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of the Metropolitan Opera Guild and a 15-year member of the Mendelssohn Choir in Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Charles Seifert and John Mooney Seifert. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in the Seifert-Mooney Center for Advancement at Clarion University, corner of Greenville Avenue and Corbett Street. Edna Mae Sumoske, 80, formerly of Moran Towers and the Luther Place, Oil City, died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home following an extended illness. Born Aug. 29, 1926, at Clapp Farm, she was the daughter of Albert E. and Beatrice L. Goodwill Kurschinske. Mrs. Sumoske was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, baking, going to the Oil City Senior Center and being around family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Oil City. Mrs. Sumoske was married in St. Joseph Church Nov. 22, 1945, to Arthur J. Sumoske who preceded her in death Aug. 4, 1982. Surviving are three children and their spouses, Connie and Marvin Miller of Hill City, Arthur J. Jr. and Karen Sumoske of Cooperstown and Suzanne and Denny Fields of Oil City; six grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Chrissy Sumoske, Shannon and Joe Mason, Kasey and Scott Roser, Stacey and Eric Plowman, Michelle and Jesse Hanna and Buddy and Tammy Miller; and nine great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Corey Mason, Jacob and Jordan Roser, Bailee and Ethan Plowman, Jacob and Sydney Hanna and Connor Miller. She also is survived by two sisters, Pauline Proper and Shirley Wilson, both of Clapp Farm; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sumoske was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Marie Proper and Emma Louise Hanna.
