The Derrick, September 6, 2007 Gary K. Keister, 64, of Lucinda, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, in the Clarion Hospital. Born April 6, 1943, in Pine City, he was the son of the late John Wesley and Wilda Luella Kapp Keister. Mr. Keister retired in 2005 from Owens-Brockway in Clarion after 42 years of service. He worked as a journeyman and was a member of Local 246 G.B.B.A. He enjoyed bluegrass music and had played the fiddle since age 12 when he began performing at square dances. He also liked to play Euchre, pitching horse shoes and working on the 1949 Farmall Cub Tractor which he had restored. Surviving are eight children, Bob Keister and wife, Cathie, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Ronda Miller and companion, Dave Renninger, of Shippenville, Susan Ochs and husband, Daniel Sr. of Crown, Debra Walt and husband, Mike, of Bradford, Linda Keister and friend, Cliff Wolbert, of Lucinda, Stacey Atwell-Keister and husband, Sean Strickland, of Pittsbugh, Susanne Atwell-Keister and friend, Bret Bailey, of Baltimore, Md., and Emily Atwell-Keister and fiancee, Ryan Herzing, of Owings Mills, Md. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Kristie Pfendler and husband, Brian, of Johnstown, Dan Ochs Jr. of Korea, Anthony Ochs of Fort Hood, Texas, Joshua Ochs, Miranda Ochs and Katelynne Ochs, all of Crown, Elizabeth Walt, Asa Walt and Adeline Walt, all of Bradford, and Farah Strickland of Pittsburgh; and six great-grandchildren. He also is survived by 11 siblings, Patricia Knight and husband, Ralph, of Wentlings Corners, Jackie Groner and husband, Bob, of Warren, Ohio, John Keister Jr. and wife, Mary of Venus, Chuck Keister and wife, Vicki, and Randy Keister and wife, Carla, all of Sherman, Texas, Tom Keister and wife, Mary Lou, of Pueblo, Colo., Lindy Keister and wife, Ginger, of Pine City, Nick Keister and wife, Abbey of Wylie, Texas, Nancy Jeannerat and husband, Rodney, of Marble, Dixie Mong of Pine City and Jay Keister and wife Deb, of Pine City. In addition to his parents, Mr. Keister was preceded in death by and infant sister, Lorenda Keister. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pine City United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Hickman, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarview Memorial Park near Strattanville.
