Reed, 1212 Chestnut St., Franklin, formerly of Knox and Emlenton Mary Jo Russell, East Springfield, Oil City native Elsie C. Sherman, Bredinsburg Road, Franklin Robert E. Dietz Jr. Robert E. Dietz Jr., 43, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Knox, died Sunday morning, Sept. 23, 2007, in Columbus University Hospital. The Robert V. Burns Funeral Home of Clarion is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will follow. Ruth E. Reed, 88, of 1212 Chestnut St., Franklin, a former resident of Knox and Emlenton, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 22, 2007, in her home. Born Sept. 27, 1918, in Rimersburg, she was the daughter of John W. and Esther Switzer Mays. She was a graduate of Knox High School. Mrs. Reed last was employed as assistant manager of the Clarion Clipper. She was a member of the Lady Emlen Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Reed enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and enjoyed activities with her family and the other residents of Colonial Manor in Franklin. She was married March 9, 1935, to Blake R. Reed Jr., who died April 23, 1983. Surviving are three sons, James W. Reed and Philip D. "Skip" Reed and wife, Marilyn, all of Knox, and Blake R. Reed III and wife, Jane, of Callensburg; two daughters, Mellany E. Angiolieri and Mary Ellen Hice, both of Franklin; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She also is survived by two brothers, John Mays and wife, Lois, of Kane and James Mays and wife, Marlene, of Knox; and two sisters, Margaret Whitling of New Bethlehem and Shirley McCleary and husband, Dave, of Clarion. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by an infant son and a sister, Maxine Payton. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with her son, Blake R. Reed III, officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence Church Cemetery, Knox. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Franklin Public Library, 421 12th St., Franklin, 16323. Mary Jo Russell Mary Jo Russell, 67, of 11709 W. Lake Road, East Springfield, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in Pine Lane Campground, East Springfield. Born April 14, 1940, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Harry John and Ellen Hennise Fox. Mrs. Russell was a homemaker and a member of the Venango County Coon & Fox Club. She was married April 14, 1958, to Floyd Russell, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Glenn Robert Russell and wife, Robbin, of Polk, Scott Russell and wife, Janine, of Oil City, and Lisa Russell of Ruskin, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Alex Russell, Dale Russell and A.J. Taylor. She also is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Cope and husband, Mark, of Wilmington, N.C.; and two brothers, Harry John Fox Jr. and Mark Fox and wife, Linda, of Oil City. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. There will be no visiting hours and services will be private. The Robert W. Sherman, 71, of Bredinsburg Road, Franklin, died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 23, 2007, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. The Hile-Best Funeral Home of Seneca is in charge of arrangements.
