Masters, 639 Sunville Road, Franklin Elsie C. Sherman, Bredinsburg Road, Franklin Frederick A. "Fred" Wolbert, Sagamore Hills, Ohio, formerly of Leeper Richard R. Brown Richard R. Brown, 68, of 3928 Lawsonham Road, Rimersburg, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Aug. 11, 1939, in Kittanning, he was the son of Joel E. and Elsie A. Lloyd Brown. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Brown retired as a material handler for PPG in Springdale after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Leechburg Moose. Mr. Brown's hobbies included camping, fishing, playing cards, collecting coins and spending time with his family and friends. He was married for 43 years to Dorothy A. Long Brown, who survives. Also surviving are a son, David A. Brown of Rimersburg; two daughters, Debby E. Smeltzer and husband, Wayne, of Kittanning and Dawn M. Gervasoni and husband, Thomas, of Punxsutawney; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by two sisters, June Uplinger of Kittanning and Alverta "Tootie" Helgert of Sarver. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alice Rimel and Janet Fair; and two brothers, Raymond and Joel Brown. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday in the Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 North Grant Ave., Kittanning. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Herbert C. Reefer, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Ford City, officiating. Anna D. Jagielski Anna D. Jagielski, 93, formerly of Venus, who is survived by a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Jagielski of Venus, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Clarion. Rosemary O. "Rosey" Johnson, 83, of Winter Park, Fla., a former resident of Jackson Center, died peacefully Sunday evening, Sept. 23, 2007, in her home with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and had lived in Jackson Center for 60 years before moving in 2005 to Winter Park with her daughter, Deborah. She was a petty officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mrs. Johnson was a former Justice of the Peace in Mercer County and briefly was a substitute Spanish teacher at the Lakeview High School in Stoneboro. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Stoneboro, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, enjoyed bowling and loved her family. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard J. Johnson, and her daughter, Janis A. Daugherty. Surviving are her only son, Richard M. Johnson and wife, Judith, of West Chester; three daughters, Deborah J. Beers and husband, Brett, of Winter Park, Fla., Jennifer Johnson Kingswell and husband, Kenneth, of Gainesville, Fla., and Judith M. Johnson Bunch and husband, Roy, of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Kapp Keverline, 75, of Highland Heights, Ohio, who grew up in Venus, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, in her residence. She was married to Edward S. Keverline, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Kim Medziuch and husband, Bob, of Wadsworth, Ohio; one son, Steve Keverline and wife, Laura, of Mentor, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, Kate and Maggie. She also is survived by three sisters, Janet Whitmire and husband, John, and Kathleen Kapp, all of Oil City, and Grace Kapp of Venus; one brother, Don Kapp of Venus; and a loving best friend, Sally Koch of Willoughby, Ohio. Mrs. Keverline was preceded in death by a brother, Ned Kapp, and a sister, Martha Karns. Services and inurnment will be private. Makoby, 82, of Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Franklin, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007. Born June 1, 1925, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Daniel and Rozila Hogue Mong. She had been a resident of Florida since moving from Pennsylvania in 1993. Mrs. Makoby was a retired vocational rehabilitation instructor for Polk State Hospital where she had worked for 30 years. She was married to Harry "Mac" Makoby, who preceded her in death. Surviving are one daughter: Rebecca J. Spence of Spring Hill, Fla.; one son, Kenneth Anthony and his partner, John Carbaugh, of Lutz, Fla.; one granddaughter, Kelly Anthony of Floral City, Fla.; three grandsons, David Borger of Franklin, Brett Borger of Spring Hill, Fla., and William Snyder of Polk; three great-grandchildren, Tyler L'Huillier and wife, Gina, of Woodbridge, Va., Ashley and Loren L'Huillier of Spring Hill, Fla.; and two great-great-granddaughters, Carley and Tayla. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Makoby was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda K. Snyder of Polk; a granddaughter, Shelly Jo Snyder; a brother, Daniel Mong of Rocky Grove; a sister, Geraldine Rosner of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and a great-great-grandson, Trenton J. L'Huillier. Masters, 71, of 639 Sunville Road, Franklin, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, in his home. He is survived by his wife, Patty, eight children and one deceased and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elsie C. Sherman, 71, of Bredinsburg Road, Franklin, Cranberry Township, died at 2:41 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. due to complications of acute leukemia. Born March 6, 1936, in Kingston, she was the daughter of Henry W. and Catherine Elko Weaver. She was a 1954 graduate of Franklin High School. She also attended one year of Bible studies at the Roberts Wesleyan College and completed a course of study at the Wilmar Beauty School in Oil City. Mrs. Sherman was a deeply religious woman and devoted her life to serving the Lord. She was active in her earlier years with the Living Word Fellowship Church in New Wilmington and the former Christ Full Gospel Church in Franklin. She enjoyed providing music ministry with her husband, traveling, sight-seeing, going out to eat dinner at Hoss's and watching "Wheel of Fortune" with her husband after a full days work around the house. In her earlier years, she was the host of her own radio broadcast, "Songs in the Night" in the 1960s on Oil City's WKRZ. She also was employed as an X-ray technician at Polk Center for 10 years. Most recently, she enjoyed being the co-host with her husband on the local AM stations WFRA and WOYL, producing a broadcast entitled "Channels for Jesus." Mrs. Sherman owned and operated Sherman's Beauty Salon from her home on Bredinsburg Road and enjoyed styling hair for the residents of the Transitional Care Unit of UPMC Northwest in Oil City, as well as for several shut-ins and the handicapped. She was married Oct. 1, 1960, in the Cranberry United Methodist Church to R. Dean Sherman, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Dena Rae Espinoza and husband, Joaquin, of Chester, S.C., and Darlene Kay Sherman of Franklin; three stepchildren, Cindy K. Beaver and husband, Larry, of Jersey Shore, Charles D. Sherman and wife, Denise, of Allenwood and Frank D. Sherman and wife, Annette, of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Lorenzo, Rosa, Vanessa and Benjamin, all of South Carolina; 11 stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a cousin, Joseph Weaver of North Wales. Mrs. Sherman was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ralph Weaver, and a sister, Delores Weaver. He was born in Snydersburg, the son of the late Fred Wolbert Sr. and Thelma Agnew Wolbert, and attended the Farmington High School in Leeper. Mr. Wolbert served in Fulda, Germany, during the Korean War. He was married to the former Marjory A. Robeson of Bedford, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Balcer and Bonnie Pietro and husband, Joseph, and two sons, Daniel Wolbert and wife, Debra, and David Wolbert, all of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Lena, Ron, Marc, Jay, Lorna, Bryan, Rick, Rachel and Megan; and one great-grandson, Ethan.
