Shaw, Woodbury, Minn., formerly of Franklin Darl C. "Crocky" Smith, 400 Broad St., New Bethlehem Rosemarie Smith, East Second Street, Oil City Dalton R. Barrett, 60, of New Bethlehem, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 25, 2007, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born April 7, 1947, in Kittanning, he was the son of Roy C. and Reatha V. McElwaine Barrett of Dayton. He was a graduate of Clarion University and was a life member of the Alumni Association. Mr. Barrett retired from Armstrong County School District. He was the head librarian at Dayton High School from 1969 until his retirement in 2000. He was a life member of the NEA and the Armstrong County Chapter of PSEA of School Retirees. He was a member of the New Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Co. where he was past president and an active fire policeman and was a member of the county and state Fire Police Association. Mr. Barrett was a member of the New Bethlehem Lions Club and was past zone chairman and deputy district governor of District 14-N and was the local club secretary for 20 years and treasurer for 10 years and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. He was a past president and member of the New Bethlehem Borough Council, serving for 20 years. Mr. Barrett was a member of the New Bethlehem Blue Lodge 522 and the Coudersport Consistory and was the first president of the Clarion County Consistory Club. He also was a member of the Clarion Moose Lodge No. 101. He was married Jan. 17, 1969, to Winnifred L. Williams, who survives, along with his parents of Dayton. He also is survived by two sons, Michael Paul Barrett of Chicora and Scott Christopher Barrett of Gettysburg; two granddaughter, Makayala Ann Barrett and Emily Marie Barrett, both of New Bethlehem; and a daughter-in-law, Leeann Barrett. Mr. Barrett was preceded in death by a brother, Dwaine Vay Barrett; his maternal and paternal grandparents and his beloved cat, Sandy. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. "Bob" Deitz Jr., 43, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, after a short battle with liver cancer. Born Aug. 21, 1964, in Oil City, he was a loving, generous and caring man. He was a faithful Christian who touched the lives of many people and was always ready to lend a hand to those in need, despite his own personal hardships. He was a graduate of Keystone High School in Knox where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He also was a graduate of DeVry University in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Deitz was a skilled carpenter and craftsman in Canal Winchester. He was a lifelong member of the North American Hunting Club, loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife and two daughters. Surviving are his wife, Angie Deitz, and two daughters, Sarah and Margaret "Maggie" Deitz of Canal Winchester, Ohio; his mother, Theresa, and her husband, Dale Crane, of Cape Coral, Fla.; his father, Robert Deitz Sr. and his wife, Susan, of Transfer; two brothers, Jeff Deitz and friend, Stephanie Martzell, of Ephrata and Kevin Renninger and his fiancée, Linda, and daughter, Zoey, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Andrea Porter and husband, Wesley, and son, Jaykeb, of Knox and Kristin Beck and husband, Brian, and daughter, Alyssa, of Virginia; his paternal grandmother, Eleanor Deitz Kurtzals and husband, Tom, of Clarion. Mr. Deitz was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David and Jean Wike of Lamartine; and his paternal grandfather, John Deitz of Clarion. Loggins of Oil City and Shawlane Heffern of Franklin, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in Hamot Medical Center, Erie. In addition to the parents, she is survived by a brother, Terence C. Loggins III at home; paternal grandfather, Terence C. Marie Frances Eaton Reeher Marie Frances Eaton Reeher, 33, of Rankin Chapel Road, Kennerdell, Clinton Township, Venango County, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. She had been ill since April 2007. Born April 3, 1974, in Grove City, she was the daughter of Larry Dewayne Eaton and Pearl Ann Burk Eaton. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. She was married to Edward Reeher of Kennerdell and he survives. Surviving also are one son, Tyler A. McCluskey of Kennerdell; one stepson, Cody A. Cyphert of Butler; her companion, Michael P. Shaw, 60, of 2731 Oak Ridge Trail, Woodbury, Minn., formerly of Franklin, died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, in his bride 's arms, surrounded by his family in his residence. Born May 14, 1947, in Franklin, he was the son of Harding and Betty Branan Shaw. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. Mr. Shaw was the facilities manager of U.S. Network for the Canadian Pacific Railway. After his death, he took his last train ride Monday, Sept. 24, from St. Paul, Minn., to Pittsburgh. Surviving are his wife, Theresa, whom he married Jan. 24, 1998, and his mother, Betty Shaw of Franklin. Also surviving are four children, Dennis H. Shaw Jr. of Franklin, Devlin V. Shaw and wife, Jamie, of Titusville, and Danika J. Shaw and Danae L. Shaw, both of Cambridge, Minn.; and four grandchildren, Austin, Rebecca, Misty and Derek. He also is survived by two sisters, Judy Miller and husband, John, of Cowansville and Carol Cutchall and husband, Charles, of Franklin; one brother, Roger Shaw and wife, Nancy, of Titusville; and many nieces and nephews. "Crocky" Smith, 83, of 400 Broad St., New Bethlehem, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, in Clarion Hospital. Born April 1, 1924, in Oak Ridge, he was the son of James Park Smith and Mary Etta Shrecengost Smith. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Smith was a coal miner, a maintenance worker for Pennsylvania Memorial Home in Brookville and a bartender at the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1860 in New Bethlehem. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, VFW No. 415 and the American Legion, all in New Bethlehem. Mr. Smith was married May 21, 1976, to Evelyn Bish, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Curtis Smith and wife, Casey, of Alaska and Kenneth "Crocky" Smith and wife, Kimberly, of Distant; a stepson and wife, Jeffrey and Brenda Anthony of New Bethlehem; a stepdaughter and husband, Debra and Richard Yates of New Bethlehem; four grandchildren, Kim, Wendy, Curt Jr. and McKenzie Smith; three stepgrandchildren, Sheena Anthony, Shane Yates and Corey Yates; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers Eugene Smith, Charles Smith and Lew Smith; two sisters, Glenn Hartman and Ethel Smith; and one stepson, Rick "Tyrone" Anthony. Rosemarie Trotter Smith, 78, of East Second Street, Oil City, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Feb. 10, 1929, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Margaret Rose Trotter. Mrs. Smith attended public schools in the Oil City Area. She was of the Protestant faith. In her earlier years, Mrs. Smith was employed in housekeeping at both the Quaker State office building and the First Seneca Bank in Oil City. She was a very dedicated homemaker and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, music, dancing, shopping and spending time with her many neighbors and friends. Mrs. Smith was married in Seneca July 28, 1950, to Kenneth E. Smith, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Sandy Neubauer of Oil City and Craig Smith and wife, Emma, of Port Matilda; four grandchildren, Shawn Schillinger and wife, Jennifer, of Groveland, Fla., Robert Neubauer Jr. and his companion, Kristina Emert, of Oil City, Lauren Smith and Maxwell Smith, both of Port Matilda; and two great-grandchildren, Kody Schillinger and Hunter Neubauer. She also is survived by a brother, Robert W. Trotter of Davenport, Fla.; a niece, Barbara L. Snyder of Oil City, with whom she was raised as a child; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ehrhart of Oil City; two very good friends, Esther Miller of the Oil City Presbyterian Home and Gaylus Cordle of Davenport, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ellen Trotter; two brothers, William J. Trotter and Merle Eugene Trotter, and an infant brother, John Henry Trotter.
