Orsega, formerly of 424 Fourth St., Franklin Memorial set for Jerry F. Boyles Jack V. Dibble Jack V. Dibble, 84, of 428 E. Walnut St., Titusville, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday, Sept.10, 2007, in his residence. Born July 19, 1923, in Titusville, he was the son of William and Elsie Harvey Dibble. He attended Titusville High School and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. Mr. Dibble was employed as a block operator by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 22 years, worked as a forest fire warden and retired in 1984 from Oil Creek State Park where he was a foreman. During those years he also started several businesses either as a partner or sole proprietor, including Dibble Excavating, Dibble's Grocery, the Deluxe Carwash on Central Avenue Ext. in Titusville, Church Run Orchard and Church Run Belgian. He was a member of St. Walburga Church, Titusville, a past treasurer and member of the Oil Creek Beagle Club, a member of the Belgian Draft Horse Association, Farmers Bureau Association and a board member of the Crawford County Conservation District. Mr. Dibble was married May 14, 1949, in the Assumption B.V.M. Church, Oil City, to Mary Gill, who died Feb. 21, 2007. Surviving are three children, Alan Dibble and wife, Mary, Lorraine Schwab and husband, Charles, and Susan Dibble, all of Titusville; nine grandchildren, Lisa Bruette and husband, Matt, of Hagerstown, Md., Jessica Diamond and husband, Pat, of Richmond, Va., Katherine Hartshorne and husband, Joseph, Jason Dibble, Benjamin Dibble, Alison Dibble, Kyle Schwab and Adam Schwab, all of Titusville, and Nathan Schwab, a student in Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Adeline Hartshorne, Ava Hartshorne and Isabella Bruette. He also is survived by one sister, Lillian Becker of Leeper; two brothers, G. Thomas Dibble and wife, Agnes, of Titusville and Merle Dibble and wife, Peggy, of Pleasantville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Dibble was preceded in death by an infant son, John Dibble; two granddaughters, Stacey Dibble and Emily Dibble; and two brothers, Ralph Dibble and Harvey Dibble. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville. A vigil service will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Walburga Church with the Rev. D.G. Davis III, pastor of the Catholic Community of Titusville, presiding. Interment will be in St. Catharine Cemetery with full military rites accorded by officers and members of the VFW Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 of Titusville. The family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of one 's choice. Shirley C. Ekman Shirley C. Ekman, 73, of The Luther Place, 1 Sycamore St., Oil City, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in her home. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Thursday in The Derrick. Janet L. Gates, 74, of 239 Grant St., Franklin, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Oct. 27, 1932, in Canal Township, Utica, she was the daughter of the Rev. Chester C. Beggs and Harriet Boughner Beggs. Mrs. Gates was employed in the warehouse at Polk Center. She was a member of the Franklin Church of the Nazarene. She also was treasurer of the Franklin Free Methodist Church where she also had been the organist for a number of years. Mrs. Gates previously sang with "Songs of the Night." Surviving are a daughter, Janet L. Gourley of Franklin; three grandchildren, Brandon L. Gourley and fiancée, Rebecca Deeter of Pittsburgh, Janet L. Gourley of Cedarburgh, Wis., and Danette E. Gourley of Jackson, Wis.; and one great-grandchild, Lorelie L. Gourley. She also is survived by a sister, Joyce E. Moriarty and husband, Johnny, of Franklin; a brother, Gerald A. Beggs and wife, Lucille, of Kent, Ohio; and a special friend, Alice S. Resinger of Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold D. Beggs. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Chamberlain officiating. Orsega, 97, formerly of 424 Fourth St., Franklin, died at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in Sugar Creek Station, Franklin. The Reinsel Funeral Home, Oil City, is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Thursday in The News-Herald. Memorial set for Jerry F. Boyles A memorial service for Jerry Frank Boyles, 77, of Ashland, Ky., a former Oil City resident, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church, 215 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City. Interment will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City. Mr. Boyles, a 1948 graduate of Oil City High School, died Aug. 21, 2007, in his home following an extended illness. Among those preceding him in death were a niece, Nancy Boyles, and a nephew, Scott Sowers, both of Oil City.
