Rekiel, formerly of 41 Smithman St., Oil City Janet Meder Strain, Oil City Yvonne E. Summerville, 9609 Route 68, Rimersburg Theodore J. Ferringer Theodore J. Ferringer, 88, of 132 Franklin Ave., Brookville, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2007, in Brookville Hospital. Mr. Ferringer was the son of Reuben and Grace Ferringer. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in World War II. Mr. Ferringer was employed by A. Ferraro & Co. and Truckstops of America. He was married to Bertha Kniseley Ferringer, who preceded him in death Sept. 13, 1984. Surviving are one daughter, Kathy Glenn of Corsica and one son, David Ferringer of Brookville, along with their families; and three brothers, Reuben Ferringer of Brookville, Arthur Ferringer of Knox and Dan Ferringer of Brookville. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Ferringer was preceded in death by five sisters, Louise, Mary Jane, Bronwyn, Lois and Marjorie. Harry Allen Heath Harry Allen Heath, 87, formerly of 32 Gilfillan St., Rocky Grove, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in The Caring Place, Franklin. Born Dec. 29, 1919, at home on Bredinsburg Road, he was the son of Robert and Gladys Thompson Heath. He attended Bredinsburg School and also schools in Randolph Township. In his younger days, Mr. Heath assisted his father on their family farm and worked as a farm hand for Mr. and Mrs. George Smith. In 1965, he started employment as a mechanic at Wentworth Auto Sales in Mount Hope and worked there until he retired in 1981. Mr. Heath enjoyed walking and made many friends and acquaintances. Surviving is a sister-in-law, Elizabeth S. Heath of Monahans, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert S. Heath; and two sisters, E. Irene Heath and Mary Ellen Burket. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Cochranton Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th St., Franklin, 16323. Gertrude N. Rekiel, 88, of 41 Smithman St. Oil City, a resident of the Golden Living Center in Oil City since July 2006, died at 8:41 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, in the Titusville Area Hospital after an extended illness. Born March 29, 1919, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Browsky Nasky. She was a 1937 graduate of Oil City High School. In 1938 she started her career as a legal secretary in the National Transit Building, working for Attorney Benjamin McFate.When Mr. McFate joined the firm she became his secretary and continued in that position until she retired in December 2005. Mrs. Rekiel was a member of St. Joseph Church. Her fondest memories were of the times she spent with her parents working at the family business, Nasky's Candy Store on Spring Street, Oil City. She was married in St. Joseph Church Nov. 11, 1952, to Alexander B. Rekiel, who preceded her in death May 7, 1973. Surviving are three daughters, Ann Osterman and husband, Greg, of Oil City, Patricia A. Rekiel of Pittsburgh and Monica Rekiel and husband, Gary Gales, of Florence, Mont.; two grandchildren, Gretchen F. Osterman of Bloomsburg and Ian N. Osterman and wife, Diana, of Painesville, Ohio; one great-granddaughter, Sydney Cathleen Osterman of Painesville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rekiel was preceded in death by three brothers, Grover Nasky of Oil City in 1934, Norbert Nasky and wife, Eileen Karg Nasky, of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Harold Nasky and wife, Majella Beck Nasky, of Erie. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church with the Rev. David Poulson presiding. Internment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Janet Meder Strain Janet Meder Strain, 63, of Oil City, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007. Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Jane Meder of Oil City and the late Merle Meder. She was the widow of Richard Strain. Surviving, in addition to her mother, are two sisters, Mary Elstner of West Finley and Shirley Bowman of Gettysburg; and one brother, Merle Meder of New Braunfels, Texas. There will be no visitation and no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County, 176 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City, 16301. The George A. Thoma Funeral Home Inc., 10418 Perry Highway, Wexford, is in charge of arrangements. Yvonne E. Summerville Yvonne E. Summerville, 80, of 9609 Route 68, Rimersburg, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 27, 2007, in the Golden Living Center, Shippenville, following an illness. The Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg is in charge of arrangements. A complete obituary will be published Saturday in The Derrick.
