Fry, Sugar Creek Station, 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin Ryder Theodore Gilbert, 655 Stewart Run Road, Oil City Florence N. Heasley, Edinboro Jean V. Kaputa, Tionesta Frances D. McClearn, Stoneboro Larry E. Olson, 215 Gurney Road, Franklin John Robert Carlson Jr. John Robert Carlson Jr., 71, of 509 Division St., Oil City, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at his residence. Born Sept. 13, 1933, in Oil City, he was a son of the late Janet Kagle and John Robert Carlson Sr. Mr. Carlson served in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1950s. He was a mold maker for Oilwell Supply for 37 years. He then worked for Warren Industries and Andover Industries, both of Meadville. Mr. Carlson enjoyed going to local baseball, football, softball and basketball games. Among his survivors are two sisters, Joan Kellogg, with whom he resided, and Doris Eakin of Kinsman, Ohio; 14 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Jean Emert, Patricia Dick and Sarah Carlson; two nieces, Linda Latchaw and Lisa Eakin; and one great-niece, Stacey Latchaw. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial gardens. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. John E. Freas John E. Freas, 87, of Seventh Avenue, Clarion, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at DuBois Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 8, 1917, in Ringgold Township, Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Erdice M. and Florence Gahagen Freas. He was a 1936 graduate of Clarion High School and attended Grove City College. Mr. Freas was a World War II veteran and served as a captain in the U.S. Army field artillery. He retired in 1979 from Laughlin-Freas Motor Co. of Clarion, where he was a manager and partner. Mr. Freas was an active member and founder of Citizens Credit Corp. of Clarion. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion for 74 years and served on the church council. He was the longest active member of the church. Mr. Freas was also a member of the Clarion American Legion, VFW, Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Freas enjoyed traveling all 50 states, Canada and some of Mexico as well as abroad. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of Pinecrest Country Club. He was married July 10, 1941, at Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion to the former Joan Kroh, and she survives. In addition to his wife of Highland Oaks, Shippenville, also surviving are two daughters, Lucy J. Elder and her husband, Timothy, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Florence Jane Pinkham and her husband, George, of Clark Range, Tenn.; a brother, William R. Freas of Henderson, N.C.; a sister, Eleanor Hohn of Bell Lane, Fla.; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Capt. Mitchell and Darrick Elder, Amy Joann Yoder and Johnathan Pinkham; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Freas. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Goble Funeral Home in Clarion. Military honors by the Clarion American Legion will be conducted at 7 p.m. today from the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Harold O. Jacobson officiating. Interment will be in Clarion Cemetery. Fry, 79, of Sugar Creek Station, 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, died at 3:55 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca after a period of failing health. Born April 15, 1925, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Elgie and Pearl A. Keith. She attended Franklin schools. Mrs. Fry was a homemaker. She was a member of the Franklin Salvation Army and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery. Mrs. Fry was married June 28, 1946, to Thomas A. Fry, and he preceded her in death Jan. 18, 1992. Among her survivors are three daughters, Rose Baker and her husband, Steven, of Utica, Mary O'Shall of Franklin and Christy Wadding and her husband, Ed, of Utica; two sons, Thomas A. Fry Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Utica, and James E. Fry and his wife, Sharon, of Sandy Lake; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Leoda Cramer of Franklin; and a brother, James Neely of Franklin. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Fry was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jake Neely; an infant son; four sisters, Frances Shuffstall, Bernice Early, Wilda Breitner and Ruth Daugherty; and two brothers, Robert Keith and Richard Neely. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. Ryder Theodore Gilbert Ryder Theodore Gilbert, 2 months old, of 655 Stewart Run Road, Oil City, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, at UPMC Northwest. Born Jan. 11, 2005, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, he was the son of Ronald H. Gilbert Sr. and Karen C. Bruner Gilbert. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Cody M. and Cameron R.H. Gilbert, and a sister, Mackenzie A. Gilbert, all at home; maternal grandmother, Alice Bruner of Oil City; paternal grandmother, Shirley Gilbert of Rouseville; and two great-grandmothers, Miriam Frain of Seneca and Virginia Gilbert of Miola. Also surviving are several aunts and uncles, Jim Yashinski and his girlfriend, Tammy, Bill and Lisa Gilbert, Dan and Ann Gilbert, Ted and Cindy Bruner and Richard Bruner, all of Oil City, and Chuck and Jenny Gilbert of Rouseville; and special friends Jim Fox of Oil City and Armond and Helen Ombres of Ambridge. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Theodore J. Bruner Sr.; paternal grandfather, Ronald H. Gilbert Sr.; great-grandparents, Oliver and Alice Brown, Sherley Gilbert and Wally Yashinski; and a cousin, Jeremy P. Bruner. Heasley Florence N. Heasley, 89, of Washington Township, Edinboro, died March 10, 2005, of natural causes at Memorial Hospital, Pembroke Pines, Fla. Born April 23, 1915, in the Borough of Croydon, London, England, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Harold and Mary Ann Walters Hirst. She graduated from Farmington High School in Leeper and Edinboro State University. Mrs. Heasley was a retired Spartansburg elementary school teacher and a world traveler, returning many times to her beloved England. She was a loving wife, caring teacher and terrific grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Heasley is survived by her husband, Bernard Christopher Heasley; a daughter, Mary Lavelle Hassel and her husband, Alfred, of Pembroke Pines; two sons, Thomas Charles Heasley and his wife, Barbara Ruth, of Enon Valley, and Bernard Gary Heasley and his wife, Janice Marie, of Edinboro; and a sister, Julia Waters Ditz and her husband, Mex, of Fryburg. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Samuel and Jon Hassel and Thomas C. Jr., Dr. Eric C., Jennifer Lauren and Bryan Christopher Heasley; and eight great-grandchildren, Samuel, Morgan, Brittany and Jonathan Hassel and Kyle, Rachel, Jackson and Foster Heasley. Mrs. Heasley was preceded in death by a son, George Bernard Heasley; and a brother, George Bostaph. Mass of Christian Burial was held March 21 at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church in Crossington. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Joseph Indian School, Chamberlain, S.D., 57326. Jean V. Kaputa Jean V. Kaputa, 79, of Tionesta, died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Beverly Health Care, Shippenville. Born April 26, 1925, in Titusville, she was the daughter of the late Ora and Letha Kitelinger McFadden. She and her husband were involved in many business ventures, including Kaputa Motor Sales and Frank P. Kaputa Used Car Sales, both of Tionesta, and K's Inn of Tidioute. Mrs. Kaputa loved nothing more then attending to her family and spending time with her grandchildren. At one time she was employed by Titusville Area Hospital as a nurse's aide. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved her dearest companion, Macy, her pet dog. She was married Dec. 1, 1951, in Chapmanville, to Frank P. Kaputa, who died Sept. 6, 1999. Mrs. Kaputa is survived by a son, Garry P. Kaputa and his wife, Kathy, of Tionesta; a sister, Ann Bold Woodburn of Titusville; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Ryan Kaputa, both of Tionesta, and Melissa Kaputa of Seneca; two step-grandchildren, Deon Beane and Dana Heckman and her husband, Jack, all of Tionesta; one great-granddaughter, Lillie A. Kaputa of Seneca; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Cook. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home, Tionesta. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy L. Evans officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Tionesta. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Frances D. McClearn Frances D. McClearn, 82, of 1819 Harrisville Road, Stoneboro, died at 9:57 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005, from injuries she received in an automobile accident in Worth Township, Mercer County. Born July 3, 1922, in Stoneboro, she was the daughter of the late Daniel P. and Della M. Weaver Deel. She attended school in Stoneboro. In her early years, she worked for the Leroi Cann family, the Heinz Drug Store in Stoneboro and the Lakeview School cafeteria. She retired in 1987 from George Junior Republic of Grove City. Following her retirement, she was employed by Barbour Brothers Nursery of Stoneboro. Mr. McClearn was a member of Stoneboro United Methodist Church where she was a member of the RTS (ready to serve) class. She attended Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed attending her grandsons' football games, wrestling matches and cow shows. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Mrs. McClearn was married June 19, 1957, to Glenn E. "Doc" McClearn, who preceded her in death April 5, 1967. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca, and her husband, Harry R. Barbour, of Stoneboro; three grandsons, Alexander G., Jeremy D. and David R. Barbour, all of Stoneboro; a sister, Margaret Ethel Sherman of Jackson Center; and a brother, John Weaver of Carlton. Also surviving are three half-sisters, Alice Seland and her husband, Mike, of Mercer, Nina Paden and her husband, Dennis, of Mercer, and Linda Deel of Jackson Center; three half-brothers, David T. Deel of Fitchburg, Mass., Glenn H. Deel of Grove City and Daniel G. Deel and his wife, Linda, of Jensen Beach, Fla.; and her stepmother, Martha Deel of Jackson Center. Mrs. McClearn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro. Olson, 61, of 215 Gurney Road, Franklin, died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Aug. 22, 1943, in Franklin, he was the son of the late Larry P. and Velma Reynolds Olsen. Mr. Olsen was well known in the area for many years as the owner and operator of Olsen's Towing. Prior to his towing company, he worked at Sehman Tire, Tri-City Speedway and Lowry Auto Body. He enjoyed dirt track racing, the World of Outlaws, NASCAR and especially his grandchildren. Mr. Olsen was married Jan. 20, 1962, to the former Betty McDonald. She preceded him in death July 24, 2002, after a 40-year marriage. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara DeLong and her husband, Matthew; two sons, Michael Olsen and his wife, Shelly, and Matthew Olsen and his wife, Julie, all of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Benjamin DeLong and his fiancee Sarah, Bonnie and Eric DeLong, and Ashlie, Austin, Mason, Shene, Miranda and Dakota Olsen, all of Franklin; a brother, Duane Manross of Rockland; a sister, Pearl Potter and her husband, Forest, of Rockland; and his father- and mother -in-law, Robert and Betty Harley, also of Rockland. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Katherine Manross. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Bobbie Nelson of Meadville officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
