He also indicated that a Mrs. Gay Darwin had authored an Armagost History. I am wondering if the Clarion Historical Society or an individual associated with the Co. would have a copy??

I've tried to get in touch with Dennis since then but my attempts have not been successful. Are there any ARMAGOST family reseachers that have information on this connection with the SHANKLE family and who have been in recent contact with Dennis. Thank you in advance. Cindy in WI
Back with you on the Armagost Line. I have two stories about the first Armagosts in this country. See what you think. First, I have info that suggests the Armagosts paid for substitutes to fight for the colonies against England. Next, I have a report that an Armagost was in Washington's service as one of his bodyguards. Since, the Armagosts were rather large men... I can see why Washington would want large capable men for protection. Do you have any info?
