"Tuck" "Elmo" Tucker Jr., 2116 Wallaceville Road, Titusville Clatus Wessell, 1339 Wallaceville Road, Dempseytown Stanley W. Anderson Stanley W. Anderson, 79, of 192 Roseland Ave., Seneca, died at 12:12 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born April 29, 1925, in Oil City, he was the son of Smiley W. and Virginia Ruth Schreffler Anderson. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Anderson worked for Purity Milk Co. prior to working for the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Oil City and also the American Legion. He was married Sept. 17, 1949, to the former Cecelia Kresinski, who died July 11, 1989. Surviving are a son, Ronald S. Anderson and wife, Debra, of Carmel, Ind.; a daughter, Andrea R. Heath and husband, Thomas, of Huntsville. Ala.; four grandchildren, Thomas J. Heath, Christopher S. Heath, Lori Barto and Olivia Anderson; and five great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Ed Anderson of Seneca; and two sisters, Virginia Thomas and Phyllis Plyler, both of Oil City. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Anderson. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Morrison Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel Kresinski officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Red Cross. Dr. Max H. Burns Dr. Max H. Burns, 70, of 1040 Liberty St., Franklin, who practiced dentistry in Franklin for 33 years, died Friday, March 11, 2005, of a sudden illness while shoveling snow at his home. Born Dec. 1, 1934, in Sligo, he was the son of Fred L. and June McCall Burns. He was a graduate of Sligo High School, Westminster College in New Wilmington and the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. Dr. Burns served in the U.S. Navy as a pilot and dental officer and attained the rank of commander. He was a member of the Navy League and the Association of Naval Aviation. Dr. Burns also flew private aircraft and was a member of AOPA and the National Aviation Hall of Fame. He served two terms as president and secretary/treasurer of the Venango County Dental Society and was a 20-year delegate to the Ninth District Dental Society. Dr. Burns was a member of the Pennsylvania Dental Association, the American Dental Association and Delta Sigma Delta. He was a member of the Elks, Masons and Rotary in Franklin, in addition to the Franklin Club and Wanango Country Club. Dr. Burns was a member of SAR and SUV Funded Scholarships at Westminster College and Clarion University. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Surviving are a brother and his wife, Joe A. and Katie Burns of New Bethlehem; two sisters, Sue A. Rimer of Pittsburgh and Beth Smathers and her husband, William, of Clarion; and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Burns was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, David Rimer. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Varner Funeral Home in Sligo. Ferry, 60, of 447 Alpine Village Drive, Monroeville, brother-in-law of John E. McConnell and wife, Susie, of Franklin, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, after a brief illness. Sarah Jane Fithian Fox Sarah Jane Fithian Fox, 82, of Parker, died Saturday morning, March 12, 2005, in Clarion Hospital following a brief illness. Born Oct. 25, 1922, in Knox, she was the daughter of James Herbert and Carrie M. Parker Fithian. Mrs. Fox was employed for more than 10 years as custodian of Citizens National Bank in Parker. She enjoyed caring for her floral gardens and personally mowing and maintaining her yard as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Fox was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Parker. She loved her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Fox was married Nov. 15, 1941, to Stanley E. Fox, who died Oct. 17, 1988. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Chuck (Suzanne) Beer of Parker, Mrs. William (Lt. Col. Ret. Charlotte) Fox-Zimmerman of Fayetteville, N.C., Ms. Deborah Fox of Summerville and Mrs. Tim (Sheila) Elder of Emlenton; one son, Keith Fox of Bruin; six grandchildren, Jonathan and Elizabeth Fox, Carrie Atkins, Heather Rodgers, Courtney Cogley and Nathan Elder; and five great-grandchildren, Marcus Chapman, Christine Atkins, Lauren and Emma Rodgers and Ethan Cogley. She also is survived by two sisters, Florence Krathege of Seneca and Mrs. Curt (Betty) Smith of Durwood, Md.; two brothers, Jesse Fithian of Russell and Richard T. "Dick" Fithian of Beauford, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Fithian; and two sisters, Helen Ramsey and Maude McEntire. "Jack" Garvey, 79, of 34 Carson Ave., Oil City, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born July 20, 1925, in Oil City, he was the son of Francis J. and Rachael Rankin Garvey. Mr. Garvey was a 1943 graduate of Oil City High School. In December 1947 he received a degree from Franklin Commercial College, and in June 1949 he received a degree in accounting from Robert Morris College near Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He entered the service Oct. 18, 1943, and went overseas Aug. 6, 1944, as a member of the 376th Regiment, 94th Infantry Division, 3rd Army. He obtained the rank of sergeant March 12, 1945. He served with General George Patton's forces in France in the drive against Germany. He was injured March 23, 1945, and received the Purple Heart. Mr. Garvey was a CPA working for May and Co., retiring in 1984. He enjoyed golf, bowling and gardening. Mr. Garvey was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Grove Pamela J. Grove, 53, of 129 English Drive, Wyattville, died at 3:22 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Oct. 21, 1951, in Oil City, she was the daughter of Frederick P. and Helen McWilliams Kay. Mrs. Grove worked as a cook at Leonardo's Restaurant, Franklin. She enjoyed reading and especially loved her children. Mrs. Grove was married to Charles D. Grove, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Richard Grove and wife, Tabatha, Kimberlee Forsell and husband, Brian, Charlotte Grove and Sherri Grove, all of Franklin; and six grandchildren, Keith Horn, Alishia Horn and Faith Horn, all of Wyattville, Michael Ritts III and Kaylee Grove, both of Franklin, and Xavier Grove Perry of South Carolina. She also is survived by two brothers, Glen Bean and wife, Mary, of Oil City and Roger Kay and wife, Susan, of Charlotte, N.C. Anna Ruth Hayes Anna Ruth Hayes, 92, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Bradford Ecumenical Home, Bradford, McKean County. Mrs. Hayes formerly resided in Rew for more than 40 years. Born Feb. 23, 1913, in Reidsburg, she was the daughter of George and Iva Whitmer Rapp. Mrs. Hayes graduated in 1930 from Shippenville High School. She worked as a file clerk at Dresser Manufacturing for 21 years. She previously worked for nine years at Case Cutlery. Mrs. Hayes was an Avon representative for more than 20 years in the Rew area. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bradford. She was a former member of West Branch Grange and the Order of Eastern Star of Limestone. Mrs. Hayes was married Sept. 11, 1937, in Erie, to Robert D. Hayes, who died July 29, 1946. Surviving are five grandchildren, Robert Skaggs of Bradford, Timothy Skaggs of Greensburg, Becky Davis and Terri Skaggs, both of Bradford, and Peggy Calcagno of DuBois; a son-in-law, Thomas Skaggs of Bradford; seven great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Skaggs, Aug. 29, 1996; a brother and two sisters. "Allie" Kunselman, 79, a longtime resident of Tionesta, died Friday, March 11, 2005, in Southwoods Assisted Living Community, Titusville, where she had resided for nearly two years. Born July 22, 1925, in Venus, she was the daughter of John V. and Martha Hannold Ziegler. Mrs. Kunselman was married to the late Telford L. "Ted" Kunselman, who preceded her in death July 18, 1999. She and her husband were owners/operators of a successful local restaurant where she enjoyed hosting their many patrons. They also were avid golfers and enjoyed many golfing vacations throughout the years. Mrs. Kunselman loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and many friends. Surviving are three children, Connie J. Todhunter and husband, Neil, of Oil City, Tenley D. Fasola and husband, Kenneth, of Richfield, Ohio, and Telford L. "T. Lee" Kunselman Jr. and wife, Julie, of Tionesta; and six grandchildren, Cara Todhunter of Pittsburgh, Janeil Todhunter, a student at Penn State University, Kellyn Fasola, a student at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., Shannon and Joseph Fasola, both of Richfield, Ohio, and Telford L. "T.J." Kunselman III of Tionesta. She also is survived by three brothers and several nieces and nephews. Mong Ralph E. Mong, 87, of Beverly Healthcare-Oil City, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Jan. 31, 1918, in Blairs Corners, Clarion County, he was the son of Henry Lester and Margaret Hannawalt Mong. Mr. Mong lived in the Oil City area most of his life. He worked at Worthington Corp. and then worked for Boyd Rhoades Construction, retiring there in 1980. Mr. Mong was a member of Calvary Temple in Oil City. He enjoyed crocheting in his spare time. Mr. Mong was married April 10, 1947, to Viola E. English, who died July 1, 1986. Surviving are four daughters, Margaret S. Lowers, Olive Vitka, Florence Winger and husband, Dennis, and Phyllis Shiner, all of Oil City; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Mong was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Peter "Pete" Scalise Peter "Pete" Scalise, 94, a former resident of 227 Water St., Titusville, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in Beverly Healthcare-Shippenville, following an extended illness. Born Jan. 1, 1911, in Warren, he was the son of Frank and Rose Scalise. Mr. Scalise was employed by Fisher & Young Co. of East Titusville for 38 years. He was a member of St. Walburga Church, Titusville. Mr. Scalise was a former member of the Elks, Eagles, PNA and Sons of Italy in Warren. He participated in activities at the Titusville Senior Center. He was married in Warren May 12, 1933, to the former Beatrice Campbell, who died Oct. 10, 1982. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sally Hosey and husband, Bill, of Corsica; one granddaughter, Deborah Anthony and husband, Tim, of Knox; and one great-granddaughter, Victoria Cyphert of Knox. He also is survived by three sisters, Rose Halle of Warren, Angie Wetmore of Warren and Edith McLaughlin of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Scalise was preceded in death by five brothers, Dominic, Lawrence, Frank, Jimmy and Anthony Scalise; and one grandson, Mark Alan Hosey. Scott, 90, of 193 Bredinsburg Road, Seneca, died at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Aug. 6, 1914, in Fertigs, she was the daughter of Eugene E. and Florence Shreffler Bender. Mrs. Scott graduated in 1933 from Oil City High School. She was employed at Mong Dairy in the 1940s and at the CPT office at one time. She retired in 1974 as postmaster in Seneca after 21 years of service. Mrs. Scott was a member of Seneca United Methodist Church and also belonged to the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Surviving are a son, Wayne L. Scott and wife, Patricia Ann, of Seneca; seven grandchildren, Sherrie L. Scott of Franklin, Nikki S. Zacherl, Kim M. Hibbard, Douglas W. Scott, Tami A. Scott and Stacey R. Strawbridge all of Oil City, and Buffy A. Erwin of Seneca; 24 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by two sisters-in-law, Ginny Bender of Oil City and Kathy Bender of Michigan. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by a son, Donald E. "Tuck" "Elmo" Tucker Jr., 31, of 2116 Wallaceville Road, Titusville, died Friday, March 11, 2005, from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. Born Aug. 5, 1973, in Titusville, he was the son of Elmer A. Tucker Sr. and Kathleen S. Marvin Dennis. He was a 1994 graduate of Maplewood High School. Mr. Tucker was employed by Dad's Dog Food of Meadville and worked as a lift operator at the time of his death. He was a member of VFW Post No. 5958 in Titusville. Mr. Tucker was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed singing karaoke and dancing and was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Kathy and Cecil Dennis of Townville; his father, Elmer A. Tucker Sr. of Frenchtown; his girlfriend, Samantha Miller and son, Chaise Allen Tucker, of Union City; and his maternal grandfather, Robert Marvin Sr. of Townville. He also is survived by two brothers, Michael Tucker and wife, Mary, of Johnsonburg and Jimmy Dennis and wife, Tracy, of Meadville; three sisters, Crystal Marie Dennis of Townville, and Candi Dennis North and husband, Tracy, and Tammy Dennis Collins and husband, Chris, all of Meadville; eight nephews, Jesse and Mallaki Tucker, T.J., Bryce and Kenny North, Joshua and Jarrett Collins and Kevin Dennis; one niece, Jessica Dennis; and his special little girl, Josie. Clatus Wessell Clatus Wessell, 91, of 1339 Wallaceville Road, Dempseytown, died at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at his residence. Born Nov. 7, 1913, in Oil City, he was the son of Albert A. and Clara Neubauer Wessell. Mr. Wessell retired from Oil Well Supply in Oil City after 40 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Franklin. Later in life when unable to drive, he attended services at the Wallaceville United Methodist Church and helped in the construction of that church.. Mr. Wessell enjoyed hunting and farming. He was married May 1, 1937, to Ruth Wyher, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Alan Wessell and wife, Gloria Jean, of Wallaceville; two grandchildren, Darren Wessell and wife, Amie, of Cooperstown and Sheila Allen and husband, Ron, of Titusville; and three great-grandchildren, Wesley and Courtney Allen of Titusville and Mariah Wessell of Cooperstown. He also is survived by two brothers, Gerald Wessell and wife, Lois, of Seneca and Jim Wessell and wife, Marge, of Cranberry; and two sisters, Mable Runninger of Oil City and Pat Toscano of Franklin. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Wessell was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wessell, and three sisters, Helen Irwin, Clara Gold and Mae Hondle.
