Ross, 998 Shreve Road, Titusville Jack Lyon Shriver, Brookville, formerly of Titusville Barbara J. "Sis" Whitten, 368 Keely Road, Franklin Robert Duane Beels Sr. Robert Duane Beels Sr., 90, of Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, formerly of Knox, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following a short illness. Born July 27, 1914, in Emlenton, he was the son of Clarence B. and Ada Miller Beels. He was a 1932 graduate of Knox High School. Mr. Beels owned Beels Welding Shop in Knox. He was an active member of the former Emanuel Lutheran Church. Mr. Beels enjoyed playing Canasta and bridge and watching baseball and football games. He was married in Knox Nov. 21, 1936, to the former Mary Ellen McCamant, who survives. Also surviving are a son and his wife, Barry F. and Sue Truitt Beels of Washington, Pa.; a daughter and her husband, Eleanor A. and Ron Rygelski of Glenshaw; nine grandchildren, Penny Vogt, Pamela VanWyck, Randy Beels, Jaime Beels, Brian Beels, Ronald Rygelski, Dean Rygelski, Rae McCurley and Chad Rygelski; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beels was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Beels Jr.; a brother, George Beels; and four sisters, Annabelle Beels, Hazel Clutz, Virginia Olson and Lois Weaver. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. today in the William N. Rupert Mortuary in Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Hilfiger, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Shippenville, officiating. Interment will follow in Knox Union Cemetery. Burrows, 83, of Springcreek Road, Titusville, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, in Titusville Area Hospital following a short illness. Born July 9, 1921, in Pleasantville, he was the son of Harry and Adelaide Noyes Burrows. Mr. Burrows was a veteran of World War II, having been inducted into the U.S. Army Dec. 7, 1944, in Erie, and discharged Aug. 12, 1946, in Fort George Meade, Md., with the rank of tech sergeant. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, Army Occupation of Japan Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Burrows was employed for more than 28 years by Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. He also did farming from 1950 to 1964 and drilled water wells. He was a member of the White Oak United Methodist Church, Universal Cyclops Quarter Century Club and Union City American Legion Post No. 237. Mr. Burrows enjoyed hunting, fishing and restoration of antique tractors. He was married in Titusville May 29, 1941, to Ruth Sutton, who died June 14, 1992. Surviving are four sons and their wives, Ronald and Meredythe Burrows of Union City, Richard and Ann Burrows and Michael and Karla Burrows, all of Titusville, and Jeffrey and Robin Burrows of Pleasantville; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Raymond Burrows and wife, Leona, of Pleasantville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Burrows was preceded in death by two grandsons, Todd Burrows and James Burrows; two brothers, Lawrence Burrows and Bruce Burrows; and a sister, Lois Coulter. Buzard, 86, of Hideaway Lane, Rimersburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, due to smoke inhalation from a fire in her residence Saturday morning. Betty June Dailey Betty June Dailey, 85, of 1220 Chestnut St., Franklin, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. She was born Sept. 6, 1919, in Tionesta. Her birth name was Grace Leeper. She was adopted as a small child by the late Max Dailey and Mary Inez Reisinger Dailey Gates. She worked as a cook, retiring from the Idlewood Restaurant in Franklin. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Her favorite hymn was "Room at the Cross." Surviving are three brothers, Max Dailey and wife, Irene, of Albuquerque, N.M., Bill Dailey and wife, Louise, of Polk and Don M. Gates and wife, Vida, of Cochranton; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Stephen and David Hogue and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, George M. Gates; and her special lifelong friend, Edward Hogue. There will be no public services. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Venango County Humane Society, Deep Hollow Road, Franklin, 16323. Heckathorn Davis, 44, of 391 Cooperstown Road, Cooperstown, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, in a traffic accident on Route 322 at Victory Heights. Kiter Sr., 92, a resident of Sugar Creek Station, Franklin, for the past two and one-half years, formerly of 5860 Galmish Road, Cochranton, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, in the Franklin facility. Born March 21, 1912, in Oil City, he was the son of George W. and May B. Cotterman Kiter. He attended Oil City area schools. Mr. Kiter owned and operated a farm for many years and had a fondness for domestic animals. He was employed at Talon in Meadville, was a school bus contractor for the Cochranton area schools for more than 35 years and was a farmer and Wayne Township Supervisor for 40 years. Mr. Kiter was a 50-year member of the Cochranton Masonic Lodge No. 790 and also was a member of the New Castle Consistory. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife, fishing at Lake Okeechobee, Fla., reading western novels and nature's beauty. Mr. Kiter leaves a legacy of being devoted to his family and lending a helping hand to those in need. He was married Feb. 19, 1930, to Cordelia May Rogers, who died March 13, 1999. They were married for 69 years. Surviving are a son, Edward Kiter and wife, Rita, of Cochranton; six grandchildren, Matthew Kiter, Cathy Hare, Betsy Kidwell, Ben Kiter, Glenn Kiter and Amy Kochannek; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Kiter was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence Kiter Jr. and an infant, Larry Kiter; and a granddaughter, Peggy O. Cherry. Law, 84, of 1440 Chestnut St., Franklin, died at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Feb. 21, 1921, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Cyril and Margaret Butts Stevens. Mrs. Law was a telephone operator for A.T.&T. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Law was married to Paul Law, who preceded her in death. Surviving are five sons, Joseph Arthur Harris Jr., Paul D. Law Jr., Timothy E. Law and Otis D. Law, all of Franklin, and Frederick Sidney Harris of Oil City; one daughter, Margaret P. Butler of Meadville; numerous grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She also is survived by three brothers, Joseph Sherene of Grove City, Henry Sherene of Franklin and Kenneth Sherene of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Law was preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Law; four brothers, Frederick S. Stevens, Otis W. Memorials may be made to Easter Seals. David H. Melat David H. Melat, 61, of Titusville, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, in Beverly Healthcare-Titusville. Born July 10, 1943, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Leonard P. and Kathryn M. Hoffman Melat, and was a lifelong resident of the tri-city area. He was a 1962 graduate of Cranberry High School. Mr. Melat worked in the oil fields all his life, being a third generation oil producer. He owned and operated drilling rigs and oil leases throughout northwestern Pennsylvania. He was associated with the Busted Flush Sporting Clay facility in Titusville. Mr. Melat enjoyed hunting and spending time in the outdoors. He also was an avid stamp collector. He was married in Henrys Bend Jan. 17, 2003, to Chris Cartwright, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Black and husband, Brett, of Chandler, Ariz.; four sons, Kipp Melat and wife, Cherie, of Fairfax, Va., Kory Melat and wife, Lori, of Seneca and Luke Melat and Jesse Melat, both of Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren, Perry Melat and Chloe Melat of Fairfax, Va., Katie Black and Josie Black of Chandler, Ariz., and Kaylyn Melat of Seneca. He also is survived by a sister, Beverly Sisson and husband, Ron, of Warren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Melat was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard P. Melat Jr. and Dennis J. Melat. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Osenider Funeral Home, Oil City. Richard Moyer, 81, of Red Coach Manor, Oil City, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, in the Oil City Presbyterian Home following an extended illness. Henderson Rapisardi, 83, of Tionesta, formerly of New Rochelle, N.Y., died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at her home. Born June 30, 1921, in New Rochelle, she was the daughter of Daniel J. Henderson, who died in 1964, and Stella O'Reilly Henderson, who died in 1927. She resided in New Rochelle all of her life until moving to Tionesta in 2001 to be with her daughter. While living in New Rochelle, she attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and graduated in 1940 from New Rochelle High School. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle. She was employed as a sales clerk for W.T. Grant Co. and F.W. Woolworth's there and after retirement, she attended the Doyle Senior Center. After moving to Tionesta, Mrs. Rapisardi became a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church and belonged to the Tionesta Senior Club. She was married to Manuel F. Rapisardi, who died in 1977. Surviving are a daughter, Judy Rapisardi McDaid and husband, Bill, of Tionesta; two grandsons, Robert W. McDaid of Tionesta and W. Russell McDaid and wife, Terri, of Lebanon, Pa.; two great-granddaughters, Rose Marie McDaid and Grace Anne McDaid of Lebanon; and a granddaughter, Karen Geoghegan and husband, Bill, of Bethel, Conn. She also is survived by a brother, Peter Henderson and his wife, Janine, of Litchfield, Conn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Rapisardi Geoghegan in 1984; a brother, Daniel J. Henderson II; three sisters, Estelle Henderson Johnson, Mary Henderson and Barbara Henderson Alfano; and her mother-in-law, Rose Passarelli, in 1989. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Tionesta, with the Rev. Tom Aleksa presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman J. Ross of 998 Shreve Road, Titusville, died Saturday afternoon, March 5, 2005, at his residence from injuries received in a tractor accident. Born in Titusville, he was the son of Samuel and Marjorie Servey Ross. He was a graduate of Titusville High School and also a graduate of MTA Trucking School in Elizabethtown. Pastor Ross had been employed as a truck driver for Omega Trucking in Wheatland. He was pastor of the Word of Faith Fellowship Church in Butler. He had served as a missionary to Mexico and the Philippines many times. He formerly was associate pastor of the Church of the Word International in Titusville and of Mount Carmel Tabernacle in Dempseytown. He formerly served as pastor of the Wings of Grace Church in Oil City. Pastor Ross was a board member of the ABC Pregnancy Center in Franklin. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Pastor Ross was married in Titusville March 27, 1982, to Karen Anthony Southwick, who survives, along with his parents of Titusville. Also surviving are a son, Mark W. Southwick and wife, Cathy, of Raymond, Wash.; three daughters, Sheila See and husband, Dennis, of Meadville, Sherri Southwick of Cambridge Springs and Krista Roberts and husband, Alan, of Sarver; and 12 grandchildren, Katie, Alisha, Kevion, Devon and Karin Southwick, Courtney, Christopher, Joshua and Hannah See and Makenzie, Kalista and Keegan Roberts. He also is survived by two sisters, Grace George and husband, Larry, of Oil City and Bonnie Staub and husband, Lew, of Titusville; two nieces; and two nephews. Jack Lyon Shriver Jack Lyon Shriver, 76, of Laurelbrooke Landing, Brookville, formerly of Titusville, died Friday, March 4, 2005, in the Brookville facility. Born May 14, 1928, in Seymour, Iowa, he was the son of Paul and Charlotte Lyon Shriver. Mr. Shriver attended school in Norman, Okla., and Burbank, Calif., and graduated from Glendale College. He served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Shriver had been co-owner of Boyd and Shriver and then started Shriver Gas and Oil. He retired from Quaker State as a district land manager and previously worked for International Harvester. He was a member of the American Legion Post, VFW Post No. 5958 and the Elks Club No. 502, all of Titusville. Mr. Shriver enjoyed the outdoors and nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Barr and Karen Shriver and John and Deb Shriver, all of Brookville; two daughters and their husbands, Pamela and James Matson of Brookville and Babs and Christopher Rajecki of McKean; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. "Sis" Whitten Barbara J. "Sis" Whitten, 60, of 368 Keely Road, Franklin, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Sept. 23, 1944, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Robert Charles Owens Sr. and Gertrude May Lawson Owens. Mrs. Whitten was a homemaker. She was raised by her grandparents, Clarence and Freda Lawson, who are deceased. She enjoyed arts and crafts, computers, photography, Monday Night Wrestling, NASCAR racing, her animals and her family and friends. Mrs. Whitten was married Sept. 26, 1981, to Lewis E. Whitten, who survives, along with her father, Robert Charles Owens Sr. of Elmonte, Calif. Also surviving are a stepson, James Whitten of Franklin; a stepdaughter, Chris Hellem and husband, Chas, of Cooperstown; and five grandchildren, Charles, Bradley and Jacob Hellem of Cooperstown and Randy and Joey Whitten of Tionesta. She also is survived by one brother, Robert Charles Owens Jr. and wife, Alice, of Polk; four cousins, Sharon Stone of Hollywood, Calif., Chris and Penny Domres of Franklin and Ressie Hapac of Cooperstown; three nieces, Missy Betterman, LaDonna Strouse and Tina Pegg, all of Franklin; one nephew, Mike Owens of Franklin; and a special friend, Beth Reed of New York. Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, Robert Matthew Owens. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Deckards Run United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Hamilton, pastor of the Worden Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating.
