Drayer, New Bethlehem Bruce K. Dunham, Hempfield Township, Mercer County Bert E. Johnson, 410 North St., Oil City Dorothy McKinley McCleary, Stoneboro Judith Ann Strotman, Knox Donald J. Winger Jr., 114 Schoolhouse Road, Oil City Richard C. Alcorn, 76, of Erie, formerly of Wesley, died peacefully, going from this earthly life to his heavenly home on March 31, 2009, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Erie, after an extended illness. Born Jan. 21, 1933, in Ringgold Twp., Jefferson County, he was the son of Charles L. Alcorn and Arabelle L. Enterline Alcorn. He married Margaret "Peg" Alcorn on Sept. 24, 1954, and she passed away on Nov. 8, 2005. They were married for 51 years. He joined the Army in April 1950 and was stationed in Germany with occupation forces for three years. He was discharged on April 16, 1954. After the service, Mr. Alcorn first worked at Victory School where he hung plaster when the school was being built. He then was employed at HT Osborn Construction for a short time. Later, he was employed at Cooper Bessemer in Grove City for nine years until his disability on May 17, 1964. Later in life he transported the Amish for 17 years on many trips locally and out of town, before retiring to Erie to be closer to his children. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Mr. Alcorn was an active member of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church until he moved to Erie in 2005. He then became a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Mr. Alcorn was a past member of the Clinton-Irwin Rod and Gun Club. He was also a past president of the Venango County Federation of Sportmans Clubs. He is survived by six children, Marvin Alcorn and his wife, Deb, of Illinois, Richard Gross and his wife, Karola, of Germany, Debbie Alcorn, Douglas Alcorn, Marcia Cass and her husband, Steve, and Pam Kindle and her husband, Dan, all of Erie. He is also survived by four sisters, Linda Bryant and her husband, Rob, of Virginia, Donna Early and her husband, Steve, of Eau Claire, Shirley Kelly of Harrisville and Jean Reitz of Brookville; three brothers, Bill Alcorn of Greenville, Charles "Junior" Alcorn of Harrisville and Ronald Alcorn of Grove City; 12 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Alcorn is preceded in death by four brothers, James, Raymond, Robert and Clarence Alcorn; and two sisters, Helen Guiste and Delores Heslop. St., Franklin, died at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following an illness. Born Jan. 15, 1939, in Trenton, N.J., he was the beloved son of the late Antonio and Theresa Terranova Barbalaci. He was married June 1, 1990, to the former Angeolina N. Colella, who survives. Mr. Barbalaci attended the Trenton, N.J., schools and had proudly served his country as a seaman with the U.S. Navy. He was employed as a painter with Associated Spring Company (The Barnes Group) of Corry. He retired from the company after 35 years of service. Mr. Barbalaci was a lifelong baseball fan; in particular, he was a great New York Yankees fan. His love for children and the game of baseball prompted him to coach Little League while living in the Corry area. One of his greatest memories was to have coached the 1970s Corry Little League team to within the final qualifying game for the Little League World Series in Williamsport. He was an active and faithful member of Cooperstown United Methodist Church. At the church, Mr. Barbalaci was a certified lay speaker for the Cooperstown charge of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. As his health permitted, he enjoyed visiting the area convalescent homes, including Sugar Creek Station, where he would sing gospel music with and for the residents. He was an avid daily reader of his Bible. In addition to his wife, Mr. Barbalaci is survived by four children, Anthony Barbalaci of Camp Hill, Michael Barbalaci and his wife, Michelle, of Erie, and Tina Duckett and Wendy Barbalaci, both of Erie; three stepchildren, Mark Cummins and his wife, Cheryl, of Dillsburg, Amy Garbacz and her husband, David, of Oil City, and Lori Rhinehart and her husband, Terry, of York; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Rosalie Petrino and her husband, Pete, of Hamilton, N.J.; a brother, Michael Barbalaci of Trenton, N.J.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Nathan Porter Croasmun, 81, of Marienville passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at UPMC, Seneca, after a lengthy illness. Born March 11, 1929, in Kane, he was the son of Dale Forest and Seeley Porter Croasmun. He was raised in Redclyffe and was a 1946 graduate of Sigel High School He was married Feb. 15, 1953, in Brookville Methodist Church to Glenyce Richards Croasmun, who survives. Nate, a millwright, retired from Koppers, Oil City in 1991. He was previously employed at Prudential Insurance Co., U.S. Forest Service, Knox Glass, and as a dental lab technician. He was a former Jenks Township Supervisor. Mr. Croasmun was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Marienville United Methodist Church, and a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Brookville. In earlier years, he had been active in the Marienville Volunteer Fire Company and fire police. He was a long standing member in the Forest County Historical Society and was a member of MACA. He enjoyed his family, and spending time with his extended family at his homestead in Redclyffe. He especially loved riding his trail bike in the woods. One of his passions was to be in his garage-shop, he was mechanically inclined, and known for being able to fix "anything." In addition to his wife, Mr. Croasmun is survived by four children, Dale Croasmun and his wife, Joy, of Socorro, Texas, Kathryn Hepler and her husband, Doug, of Erie, Jeanne Andring and her husband, Randy, of Marienville and Nathan Croasmun II and his wife, Dawn, of Butler. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Angela Bainey and her husband, Todd, of Morrisdale, Justin Croasmun of Chicago, Ill., Joshua Hepler and his wife, Tricia, of Christiansburg, Va., Rachel Hepler of Erie, Jason Andring and Tyler Andring of Marienville, Matthew Andring of Edinboro and Bailey Croasmun of Butler; and three great-granddaughters, Brooke Bainey, Reigan Andring and Sophie Hepler. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Brandon and her husband, Kenneth, of Oriental, N.C.; a brother, Dale F. Croasmun of Bedford; a brother-in-law, Allen Richard and his wife, Charlotte, of Erie; a sister-in-law, Barbara Richards of Erie; a cousin, Marie Emery of Brookville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William A Croasmun. Drayer, 85, of New Bethlehem, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 26, 2009. Born Aug. 10, 1923, in Truittsburg, he was the son of the late Foster Drayer and Mable Oppelt Drayer. He was married Aug. 23, 1971, to the former Beverly Jean Brown, who preceded him in death. Mr. Drayer was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of the Pittsburgh District Church of the Nazarene and ordained an elder in the Nazarene Church in 1952. He participated in various area ministries and also founded and organized a program for the needy in July 1976, in Hawthorn, called Mission Possible. While in Bloomington, Ill., he became the co-founder of the Whippit Janitorial Company, along with his wife, Beverly. Mr. Drayer also served in evangelist mission work for 20 years. In recent years, He returned tot he Clarion County area where he became pastor of the Kahletown Community Church in Corsica. After retiring due to health issues, Mr. Drayer became a member of the Bread of Life Church. He also taught a Bible study at Broadwood Towers in New Bethlehem, where he resided, and he composed a newsletter called "Down Memory Lane." Mr. Drayer is survived by a daughter, Kathy Newton of Virginia; two sons, Gordon Drayer of Illinois and Les Drayer of Canada; a step-daughter, Sheryl Meadors of Colorado; two step-sons, Kevin Schull and Gary Schull, both of Illinois; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Drayer was preceded in death by a sister, Zelda McAninch; two infant brothers; and a special friend, Nancy Hodgson. Dunham, 73, of 4 Redwood Drive, Hempfield Township, passed away at 8:25 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at White Cliff Nursing Home in Hempfield Township . Bruce was born Dec. 1, 1935, in Titusville, the son of the late Roscoe Kenneth and Alice (Jones) Dunham. He attended Pleasantville Elementary and graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1954. Bruce graduated from Slippery Rock State College in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army as a private first class from 1958-60. He taught English and history at Franklin High School from 1960-68 while residing in Franklin. He received his master's degree from Westminster College with a principal's certification. He was a history teacher at Penn State-Shenango Campus for 12 years. Bruce also served as assistant high school principal in Greenville from 1968-70. He then served as the high school principal at Commodore Perry from 1970 until he retired in 1993. Bruce attended Pleasantville Community Church in Pleasantville. He was a lifelong collector of antique cars with his pride being his 1948 Buick Roadmaster. He was a PIAA basketball and baseball official for 18 years. Bruce was active in coaching the baseball recreation league in Greenville. He was also active in bowling, golf, and was previously a member of the Greenville Lions Club. He was the husband of Loretta (Lauffer) Dunham, whom he married in January 1959. She survives him at home. He is also survived by two daughters: LuAnne Jurczenko of Greenville and Lynne and her husband Dan Muir of Greenville; a son: Ted Dunham of Lake Latonka; and six grandchildren: Chelsea Jurczenko, Kyrylice Jurczenko, Alycia Hooks, Taylor Hawks, T.J. Dunham, and Taren Meehan-Muir. Dorothy McKinley McCleary, 96, of Stoneboro, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Woodland Place, Coolspring Township. Born Nov. 1, 1912, in Raymilton, she was a daughter of Harry and Agnes Hoover Beach. She married Alvin McKinley in 1930, and he preceded her in death July 15, 1989. They spent many winters in Florida. She then married Duane McCleary in 1992, and he preceded her in death. Mrs. McCleary worked at the former Plastics Company in Franklin and was a waitress for many years at the Idlewood Restaurant in Franklin. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, crafts, crocheting and her grandchildren. Mrs. McCleary was a member of First Church of God in Grove City. She is survived by four daughters, Wilda Watson and her husband, Clark, of Stoneboro, June Stoebe and her husband, Carl, of Polk, Peggy Shindler and her husband, Max, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ruby Lawson and her husband, Jack, of Slippery Rock; and a daughter-in-law, Ruth McKinley. Winger Jr., 88, of 114 Schoolhouse Hill Road, Oil City, died at 8:58 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born Aug. 21, 1920, in the Oil City Hospital, he was the son of Donald J. Winger Sr. and Lavanda Cauvel Winger. He was married Aug. 1, 1941, to the former Blanche Mac Miller, who preceded him in death in July 1999. Mr. Winger attended school at Hasson Heights, Nickleville and Crawford Memorial High School in Emlenton. He served on the Civilian Conservation Corps where he excelled as a wrestler. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army, the Army Air Corps and the Army Corps of Engineers in the European and Pacific Theaters. In February 1974, he hired out on the Pennsylvania Railroad as a fireman, and he retired as an engineer in July 1982. Mr. Winger was known for TV repair, mobile home courts, ice cream trucks and a go-kart track. He drove a school bus for Oil City and Venango Christian High Schools. Mr. Winger was a volunteer for RSVP. He conducted sing-a-longs at several nursing homes in Venango and Clarion counties for eight years. Another hobby was singing in the Venango Barbertones for several years. Mr. Winger had been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1954. He worked for several years in the Venango County Prison Ministry. Mr. Winger is survived by a very special friend, Pauline Boring of Plumer; three sons, Jack Winger and his wife, Patty, of Shippenville, Donald Larry Winger of Huntersville, N.C., and Gene O. Winger and his wife, Karen, of President; and four grandchildren, Von Winger of Shippenville, Rhonda Schenberg and her husband, Andy, of Plumer, Gene E. Winger and his wife, Wendy, of Oil City, and Susan O'Laughlin of President. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Noah Schenberg, Nathanael Schenberg and Grace Schenberg, all of Plumer, Kendra Winger, Keisha Winger, Kayla Winger and Kara Mae Winger, all of Oil City, and Katlyn O'Laughlin of President. "Bill" DeLoe Jr., 49, of 1720 Old State Road, Venus, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009, in UPMC Northwest of Seneca. Born Nov. 10, 1959, in Westfield, N.Y., he was a son of Hazel Brocious DeLoe and the late William I. DeLoe Sr. He was married Oct. 26, 1985, to the former Brenda VanWormer, who survives. Mr. DeLoe worked on oil rigs and at various factories. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, recycling and spending time with his grandson. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. DeLoe is survived by two children, Kristina L. DeLoe and her special friend, Douglas Green, of Clarion and Joshua Pierce and his wife, Amanda, of Westfield, N.Y.; and two grandsons, Braniken D. Green of Clarion and Joshua Pierce Jr. of Westfield, N.Y. Lois DeVore, 84, of Caledonia, N.Y., formerly of Clarion, left us to be with her heavenly family on March 21, 2009. Born Oct. 13, 1925, in Clarion, she was a daughter of the late Charles Mason and Lulu Lawrence. She was a 1943 graduate of Clarion High School. Mrs. DeVore was very active in church work, including the choir for many years. She was a quilter most of her life and was also recognized by the state of New York for her her quilts. Clarion County Children and Youth Services received a box of Lois' handmade mittens every year. In addition to her husband, Ray W. DeVore, she is survived by a son, Fred C. DeVore and his wife, Martha; a daughter, Debra Ann McIntyre and her husband, Gary; three grandchildren, Holly Ann McIntyre, and John and Jason DeVore; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Madison DeVore; one sister, Doris Lawrence; one brother, Howard Lawrence and his wife, Shirley; two sisters-in-law, Ellen and Bernice Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. DeVore was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Olson, 80, a former councilman and mayor of Franklin and a prominent member of the community for many years, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009, at The Caring Place in Franklin. Mr. Olson, who also was a long-time educator and a veteran of the U.S. Army, resided at The Caring Place and was formerly of Crestview Drive in Franklin. Born May 27, 1928, in Kramer, Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Arthur C. Olson and Helen Chilcott Olson. He was married July 20, 1963, to the former Ruth Gibson Olson, who preceded him in death in 2005. The couple had been married for 41 years at the time of her passing. Mr. Olson graduated from Sykesville High School in 1946 and was president of his class. He graduated from Penn State University in 1950 with a bachelor of arts degree in pre-law and secondary education and received a master of arts degree in administration in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army as a special agent in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps during the Korean Conflict. He also served in the Franklin 409th Civil Affairs Army Reserve with the rank of captain. Mr. Olson began his teaching career as a government and history teacher at Brookville High School, where he worked from 1950 until 1961. He served as president of the executive council of the Jefferson County Teachers Association. Mr. Olson moved to Franklin where he accepted a newly created position as assistant principal at Franklin High School. He retired in 1989 as a government and criminology teacher at Franklin, and he also taught GED evening classes for many years. Mr. Olson served as a councilman in Brookville from 1958 until his resignation in 1961. In 1966, he was appointed to the Housing Authority of Franklin, serving through 1972. He was elected to Franklin City Council in 1976, and he was an elected as a member of the city Government Study Commission that formulated the new city manager form of government. Mr. Olson became Franklin's deputy mayor in 1984 before being elected mayor in November 1985. He served as mayor for four years from January 1986 through December 1989. He was instrumental in the adoption of the city flag during his term as mayor, and he proudly promoted and participated in many community events and campaigned to protect the city's historical structures during his years of service to the city. Mr. Olson was a past commander of American Legion Post 476 of Franklin, a past member of Elks Lodge 110, a Boy Scout Scoutmaster and an Eagle Scout, and was past president of the AARP. He also was a member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin. Mr. Olson is survived by two daughters, Peggy Cooley and her husband, Brent, of Frederick, Md., and Patty Lankford and her husband, Jeff, of Mechanicsville, Va.; five grandchildren, Meagan Cooley, Shannon Cooley, Carson Cooley, Britney Lankford and Adam Lankford; a sister, Helen Jane Lundberg of Rockville, Md.; a niece, Linda Lundberg of California; and a great-nephew, Max Lundberg. Lineman Henry A. Andres, 94, of Halyday Run Road, formerly of Chestnut Street, went to be with the Lord at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2009, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1914, in Chicago, he was a devoted son of Anthony and Mary Schiffer Andres. Mr. Andres attended Assumption School in Oil City. He was a poultry farmer prior to opening Andres Bakery on Halyday Run Road in 1940, which he designed and built. He was a co-owner of Andres Bakery, a family business, which was started by his father and uncle. Mr. Andres was a member of Assumption BVM Church and the PNA. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Andres loved taking long walks through his woods, was proud of his Polish heritage and loved to dance the polka. On Sept. 10, 1945, at Assumption BVM Church, he married Irene Mary Pilewski, who preceded him in death April 1, 2008. Mr. Andres is survived by seven "baker's half dozen" children, Rose Marie Ulrich and her husband, Joseph, of Smithsburg, Md., Eugene Andres and his wife, Patricia, of South Euclid, Ohio, Kathryn "Kathy" McBride and Steve Brzezinski of Oil City, Larry Andres and his wife, Diane, of Oil City, Jim Andres and his wife, Janet, of Franklin, Jerome Andres and Vic Tiberie of Coraopolis and Barbara Waldron and her husband, James "Blue Hawk", of Oviedo, Fla. Clark, 80, of 659 Meadville Road, Titusville, died Monday morning, March 30, 2009, at her residence with her children by her side. Born Nov. 17, 1928, in Titusville, she was a daughter of the late J. Lloyd and Irene Perkins Locke. She was married to Harold E. "Whitey" Clark on Jan. 22, 1947, in Titusville, and he preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1995. Mrs. Clark was a 1946 graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville. She had been employed for a number of years at Quality Markets and was also a homemaker. Mrs. Clark was a member of St. Titus Church in Titusville and the Catholic Daughters of America. She had served as secretary of the Women's Bowling Association of Titusville for many years. At age 77, she bowled the highest series for her age of any Titusville woman. She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed traveling and had been to all 50 states. She enjoyed playing horseshoes and golfing, and she loved her pet dog, Alex, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Clark is survived by seven children, James D. He was also a member of the Brookville Assembly of God for 22 years, serving as a board member and usher, and the Punxsutawney Assembly of God Church for 19 years, serving as an usher. Born April 24, 1929, in Knox, she was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Aldine Brown McConnell. She was married June 30, 1951, in Knox, to Charles W. Ramsden, who preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1990. Mary Ellen was a graduate of Knox High School and continued her education at Clarion College, where she received her bachelor's degree in education. She taught at North Franklin Elementary School for 25 years. Mrs. Ramsden is survived by a son, Bill Ramsden and his wife, Sandy, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; three daughters, Sue Fulton and her husband, Rodney, of Marietta, Ga., Kelli Miles of Canonsburg and Lori Cope and her husband, Dan, of Pittsburgh; a brother, Bill McConnell and his wife, Janice, of Towanda; eight grandchildren, Scott Ramsden, Patrick Ramsden, Lisa Ramsden, Matt Fulton, Drew Fulton, Brett Fulton, Mason Cope and Chad Cope; and several nieces and nephews. Winters, Shippensburg, Oil City native Thomas J. Lineman, 70, of Hill City Road, Seneca, died at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in his home, surrounded by his family and friends and following an extended illness. Born Jan. 27, 1939, in Franklin, he was the son of Grace Smith Lineman and the late William "Ralph" Lineman. He and the former Donna M. Moyer were married Oct. 10, 1959, in Bethel United Methodist Church of Oil City, and she survives. Mr. Lineman was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from January 1962 until January 1964. He was a self-employed auto mechanic who owned and operated Tom's Auto Electric on Central Avenue in Oil City and later Lineman's Garage on Riverside Drive. As his children grew older, he moved his business to his home to be more available to his family. He loved his work and remained active with it until he was no longer physically able to do so. Mr. Lineman's hobbies included wood-working, building and flying remote-controlled airplanes, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Donna, and his mother, Grace, Mr. Lineman is survived by a daughter, Tracy Lineman of York; and five grandchildren, Meghan Skokowski, C.J. Skokowski and Korina Skokowski, all of Maryland, and Tommy Phillippi and Jessi Phillippi, both of Knox. He is also survived by four brothers, Charles Lineman and his wife, Sue, of Cranberry, Rudolph "Jack" Lineman and his wife, Donna, of Cranberry, Robert Lineman and his wife, Beverly, of Cranberry and Ray Lineman of York; three sisters, Carol Jarrett of Annandale, Va., Mary Ann Lineman of New Port Richey, Fla., and Pat Lineman of Coarsegold, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Mr. Lineman was preceded in death by a daughter, Elista Phillippi; a grandson, William Phillippi; and a brother, Ted Lineman. He was employed in dog law enforcement by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and retired in 1991. McCormick, 84, the last Civil War veteran of Captain Core post, G. A. R., and the last war veteran of Limestone township, Clarion county, is dead. He was a member of Company K, One Hundred and Eighty-fourth regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was taken prisoner at Reams Station, W. Va., on August 25, 1864, and was confined at Bill Island prison and at Andersonville. He was exchanged after several months' confinement and rejoined his company. He was among the first soldiers of the war to use breach loading rifles, as his company was selected by General Hancock to try out the new arms. Mr. McCormick is survived by two children, Guy McCormick of Altoona and Mrs. D. M. Miller of Kingsville. Born July 4, 1928, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Michael and Laura Carolyn Ries Cameron. She was married Nov. 26, 1955, to Charles Leslie Bowen, who preceded her in death May 24, 1984. Mrs. Bowen was a 1946 graduate of Cranberry High School in Seneca. Betty received her Registered Nursing degree from Alfred State University following the WCA Hospital Nursing program in Jamestown, N.Y. Betty retired in 1992 from MRC Bearings in Falconer, N.Y., where she was the industrial nurse for 23 years. In earlier years, she worked at WCA Hospital from 1950 to 1955 and for Dr. George Caccamice at his Jamestown, N.Y. office from 1955 to 1969. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Randolph, N.Y., Randolph American Legion Unit 181 Auxiliary, NYS Occupational Nurses Association, where she was past secretary and treasurer, Allegany Occupational Nurses Association, two-term Royal Matron of the Chautauqua Court 38 Order of the Amaranth, where she served as grand representative to Missouri in 1982. She was a former member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and Jamestown Vikings Club. Mrs. Bowen is survived by a son, Scott A. Bowen of Randolph, N.Y.; a step-son, Raymond Bowen of Wood Dale, Ill.; two grandchildren, Corry Bowen and Marc Bowen, both of McHenry, Ill.; and two step-sisters, Winifred Stover and Barbara Shielk, both of Oil City. She and her husband traveled to Florida where they would host the Pennsylvania Republican delegation. She also served as a jury commissioner. Mrs. Bruner was a member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin and past president of the Franklin Woman's Club, and she worked with the Venango County Historical Society. She loved working with people and was a volunteer for various organizations throughout Venango County. Mrs. Bruner is survived by two daughters, Anna Baker of Franklin and Joan Hayen and her husband, Henry, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Bradley Hayen and his wife, Kim, of Roswell, Ga., and Brian Hayen and his wife, Julie, of Newburg, N.Y.; and three great-grandchildren, Rebecca Hayen of Newburg, N.Y., and Elsie Hayen and Parker Hayen, both of Roswell, Ga. Mrs. Morrison worked in the housekeeping department of the Franklin Hospital for five years and then she worked for Grandview Nursing Home, while it was located in Franklin, in housekeeping and as an aide. She was a member of the Franklin Women of the Moose, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Seniors of Utica, Utica Fire Department Ladies Aux. and the AARP. Mrs. Morrison was a charter member of Central PTA. Agostinelli, 85, of Liberty Street, Clarion, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at The Hospice House in Shippenville. Born March 18, 1924, in Hazel-Hurst, she was the daughter of Vitaliano and Rose Ross Lombardo Agostinelli. Ms. Agostinelli worked at the Owens Illinois glass plant for 40 years and retired as a foreman for the B shift. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion. Ms. Agostinelli was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Owens Illinois. She enjoyed crossword puzzle books, playing piano and watching cooking shows on television. Ms. Agostinelli is survived by two sisters, Alda Elslarger and her husband, John, of Rockfort, Texas, and Betty Hollingsworth of Lakeland, Fla.; and a special friend, Wanda Daugherty. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Born Jan. 26, 1925, in Rimersburg, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Jennie Wilson Simpson. She was married March 12, 1948, to Paul L. Minick, who preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2003. Mrs. Minick graduated in 1943 from Union High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Rimersburg Elementary cafeteria, of the Union School District, for many years. She was a lifetime member of Rimersburg United Methodist Church, where she was very active in Golden Links Sunday school class. Mrs. Minick was a member of the UMC Red Hatters and enjoyed attending activities at the Rimersburg Senior Center until shortly before her death. He was a member of the Legion 066, Moose 101, and the VFW 2145, all of Clarion. He enjoyed tinkering with clocks, spending time outdoors, golfing with his friends and family, and spending time with grandchildren. He was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Tionesta. Mr. Hauth served for 29 years as a Pennsylvania state policeman, working in several troops and barracks in western Pennsylvania. He retired as a captain and the commander of Troop A, Greensburg. During World War II, he served his country in the Pacific Theater as a radioman first class in the U.S. Navy. He spent a lot of his retirement playing golf and reading. In addition to his devoted wife, Mr. Hauth is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Latchaw was owner and operator of Latchaw Plumbing & Heating. He very much enjoyed the time he served in the U.S. Army during peacetime. Mr. Latchaw was a member of Fox Street Church of God, president of Rocky Grove PTA, and president of Venango County Training Center. He was a member of Franklin Rotary, Venango County 4-H, Rocky Grove Fire Department, and Rocky Grove Fire Police. Mr. Latchaw was an avid Steelers fan. He enjoyed CB radios, fishing, horses and going to "hot dog" shops with his brother, Jim. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Reid Douglas Perrett Sr., 84, of 17659 Bugtown Road, Titusville, died at 6:17 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Born on Aug. 18, 1924, in Oil City, he was a son of the late John Henry and Katherine Douglas Perrett. He attended Cranberry High School. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Perrett served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. During that time he fought in battles and campaigns in the Pacific Theatre and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He was employed by GTE in the voice communications department for 43 years. He retired in 1989. Mr. Perrett belonged to IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and served as a union steward. He was also a member of Telephone Pioneers, past president of the Titusville Aero Club, Democratic committee man for Oil Creek Township, Venango County, and was a lifetime member of the Bruce Shorts VFW Post 5958. He loved spending time with his family, and was a pilot since 1989. He was also an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed reading and traveling and shared his wife Bobbie's interest in genealogy. He will be missed by his animal friends. Born Aug. 22, 1920, in Naples, Italy, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Elena Goridano Pietropoli. He came to America with his family on May 9, 1921, at the age of 8 months. He was raised in Philadelphia, where he attended industrial school. A veteran of World War II, he serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He owned a successful businesses for 25 years in Trevose prior to moving to the Knox area in 1974. He retired from the Keystone School District in 1985 and continued working at Knox Auto Supply until 2005. He attended the United Church of God in Meadville for many years. He was married on June 25, 1983, to Doris Best Cope, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Mary Simmons of Shippenville, Cathy Stansfield of Sunbury, Richard Pietropoli and his wife, Doreen, of Levittown, and Sandra Cammack and her husband, Kent, of Dacula, Ga. "Ed" Whitman Sr., 73, of 2667 Lamberton Road, Franklin, died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, shortly after his arrival in the emergency department of UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Mr. Whitman was stricken earlier in his home with an apparent massive heart attack. Born Aug. 20, 1935, in Franklin, he was the beloved son of the late Harry and Sophia M. (Eckel) Whitman. He attended Franklin area schools and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal following his honorable discharge from the service. He was employed as a machinist for the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. in Franklin until it closed. He also worked for Lepley's Bus Service and Dunlap's Lawn and Garden Co., doing small engine repair when he could. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed sharing time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed making the best of every day by woodworking, building items for his family and friends and rebuilding anything with a motor. He had fun riding his four-wheeler, gardening, walking quietly in the woods enjoying nature, hunting with his family and friends, and sharing time with his beloved dog, Taco. He was married Sept. 15, 1959, to the former Carol J. Clark, who survives. Survivors also include four children, Floyd E. Whitman Jr. and his wife, Pam, Beverly D. Whitman, Tim E. Whitman and Barbara D. Whitman, all of Franklin; and five grandchildren, Jessica N. Whitman, Justin P. Rice and his fiancee, Amber Reed, Jasmine E. Whitman, Mikal E. Whitman and July M. Schweitzer, Shippenville Getting it Right - Veronia Noni Huefner Dorris Elaine "Dottie" Eckel, 86, of Lamberton Street, Rocky Grove, left this life to be with her Lord at 4:25 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at UPMC Northwest. Born March 6, 1923, in Bradford, she was a daughter of Earl W. and Lillian Mae Minium McCool. She attended Cranberry and Franklin high schools and met her future husband, Leo Thomas Eckel, while a student at Franklin High School. When Mr. Eckel was called to military service, he proposed to her and they were married June 1, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo., where he was stationed with the Army Air Corps at North American Aviation. The young couple was later stationed at Hamilton Air Base in Fresno, Calif., and Fort Lawton, Wash. It was while her husband was serving in the Aleutian Islands that Mrs. Eckel worked at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash., doing electrical wiring on the B-17 and B-29 bombers. After her husband's return from the Aleutians, the couple moved to Dover Army Air Base at Dover, Del., and later to Andrews Air Base near Washington, D.C. After Mr. Eckel's discharge, the couple returned home to Franklin. Mrs. Eckel worked at Joy, Polk State School and Hospital, CPT and retired as credit manager of Conair Inc. Her goal was always to better herself through education no matter where she was living. While at Boeing Aircraft, she worked 12 hours a day, seven days a week and still found time to attend classes at the local business college. Her love of learning continued throughout her life. She was an active member, as her health permitted, of St. Patrick Church in Franklin, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Franklin Woman's Club, the Venango County Homemakers Club and the Venango County Historical Society. Mrs. Eckel was an avid crafter and enjoyed creating handmade gifts for her family and friends. She was most proud of the accomplishments of her family and relished family gatherings to celebrate holidays, birthdays and other occasions. Surviving are her husband, Leo, also known as "Beaver" or "Tom." The couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last summer and a tree was planted in Franklin's West Park by their family in their honor. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, Thomas Dennison Eckel and his wife Doris, and John Dana Eckel and his wife Mary, all of Franklin; five grandchildren, Dana Marie Thomas and her husband Kevin of Allison Park, Melissa Kojancie and her husband Steve of Erie, Timothy Thomas Eckel and his wife Lauren of Nampa, Idaho, Emily Elizabeth Grazulis and her husband Joe of New Eagle and Petty Officer Andrew John Eckel (USCG) of Franklin; four great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth and Emily Anne Thomas, Ava Mae Kojancie and William John Grazulis; a sister, Lucille McKittrick of Dunedin, Fla.; a half-sister, Rev. Patricia Dailey of Boston, Mass.; and three half-brothers, Edward McCool, Ronald McCool and Larry McCool, all of Bradford. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were four sisters, Helen Clark, Ruth Harvey, Mary Elizabeth Strait and Viola Jenks; a half-sister, Betty Nufer; and a half-brother, Sgt. O'Donnell, 42, of Parker, husband of Karla McCall O'Donnell, passed away suddenly late Thursday morning, March 19, 2009, of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Route 422 in Armstrong County, near Kittanning. Daryl Frederick Raybuck, 68, of Knox, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 19, 2009, at his residence. His loving wife of nearly 50 years and their beloved dog, Uba, were at his side. Born July 25, 1940, in Elk City, he was the son of the late Lloyd N. and Ruth H. Allaman Raybuck. Daryl graduated from Keystone High School in 1959. He had been a journeyed maintenance mechanic for Glass Containers in Knox. During most of his career, he traveled throughout the United States performing tank repairs. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Knox, the Clarion County Rod and Gun Club and Wentlings Corners Community Club. Daryl was a devoted and loving father, husband and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family, who so dearly loved him. He was an avid outdoorsman, participating in hunting, fishing, canoeing, biking and walking. He was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Daryl was very competitive and loved to play cards and games with family and friends. His nightly "Jeopardy" viewings often left others in awe of his knowledge. He enjoyed traveling and sightseeing and had grown particularly fond of his visits to the ocean.. He was married Oct. 2, 1959, to the former Emma Jayne Beichner, who survives. Survivors also include a son, Daryl A. (Tony) Raybuck and his wife, Ho llie, on Ninevah; and two daughters, Darla L. McConnell and her husband, Dan, of Corsica, and Dori S. Raybuck and her husband, Eric Gulnac, of Freedom. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kayla and Tasha Cochran, both of Corsica, Senior Airman Shane Raybuck of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Dirk Raybuck of Knox. Mrs. George enjoyed fine dining, antique collecting, entertaining friends and most importantly, her precious family. Goodman, 71, of 249 Flockerzi Road, Oil City, passed away at 7 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the Presbyterian Home in Oil City, following several months of declining health. Born Feb. 20, 1938, in Oil City, he was the son of David Goodman and Thelma Ferringer Goodman, who both preceded him in death. He was married Feb. 27, 1960, to the great love of his life, the former Delores Rita Perry, who was at his side for the past 49 years, and she survives. Mr. Goodman attended Cranberry and Oil City area schools and proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. He was a member of the Heckathorn United Methodist Church and Oil City Jaycees service club. Mr. Goodman was a long-time Quaker State employee, serving there for 35 years until his early retirement when the headquarters moved out of Oil City. During his years at Quaker State he worked in the mail room and later managed the warehouse facility in Seneca. After retirement, he assisted his son and wife in the family business at Baker's Confectionery until they sold it in 2002. He enjoyed participating in and watching sports over the years. He was an avid participant in the Quaker State sponsored bowling league and played in the area men's softball league. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Mr. Goodman's hobbies were varied. He was a collector of LP records, especially songs and artists from the '50s and '60s. He also loved watching movies and his favorites included military and western films. He collected items related to his Native American heritage and old photographs of the area. He had a keen interest in history, especially of this surrounding area and the oil industry. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and landscaping around his home in the Coal Hill area. He had a great love for animals, especially cats, and will be greatly missed by his cat, Joe. Mr. Goodman's proudest accomplishment was being the father of four children and the grandfather of two granddaughters. He followed all their school, sporting, social and work accomplishments with keen interest and great pride. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tina Renee Moon and her husband, William, of Oil City and Marcie Lee Rodriguez of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and two sons, Timothy Glenn Goodman and his wife, Chris, of Oil City and Mark Andrew Goodman and his fiancé, Amy Stamm, of Oil City. Born June 9, 1935, in Cranberry Township, Venango County, she was a daughter of the late John and Bernice Merwin Murray. Mrs. Hurt was a graduate of Cranberry Area High School. She was employed for many years at Oakwood Rose Gardens, and then worked alongside her husband at Hurt's Meter Service, a business they started in Erie, and then moved to Hydetown. Mrs. Hurt enjoyed her family and friends, watching sports and their devoted dog, Dusty. On Oct. 6, 1955, she married Leon E. Hurt in Oil City, and he survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Sally Barr and her husband, Alan, of Centerville; a son Brian Hurt and his wife, Fae Michelle, of Rocky Grove; two grandchildren, Jessica Hurt and Brandon Hurt and his companion, Christina; and two great-grandchildren, Chasity and Lilyan. Veronica "Noni" Huefner, 73, of 12631 Route 208 Marble, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at her home. Born March 6, 1936, in Fryburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Susan Zacherl Groner. She was married Oct. 12, 1957, at St. Michael Church in Fryburg, to Regis E. Huefner, who survives. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in the fall of 2007. Mrs. Huefner attended McGinnis, Fryburg Public, and North Clarion High School, graduating in 1954. She was employed for years at the L & R Store in Clarion and Lighting Palace of the Riverhill, where she made a lot of close friends. Later, she joined Chandler Dining as a food handler. She enjoyed her granddaughters, decorating, lawn and gardening, shopping, and helping people. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Huefner is survived by two sons, Kurt M. Huefner of Marble and Brad C. Mrs. Kell was a licensed beautician since 1960 and ran her own beauty salon out of her residence in Siverly for a number of years. She was also an Avon lady. Mrs. Kell was a very active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Oil City where she served in many capacities. Kinch, 64, of 1485 Mercer Road, Frenchcreek Township, died peacefully at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday March 18, 2009, at UPMC Northwest Seneca, following an extended illness. Born Nov. 23, 1944, in Oil City, he was a beloved son of Richard L. and Mary Kirkwood Kinch. Upon his graduation from high school, Mr. Kinch continued his education through an apprenticeship as an electrician with the Commonwealth Edison Company in Zion, Ill. Following his apprenticeship period, Mr. Kinch remained with the company as an electrician in the company's substation for more than 25 years; he retired in 1991. Mr. Kinch proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He will best be remembered by his family as the ultimate animal lover. Mr. Kinch cherished times spent with his dogs, Heidi, Ricky and Lucy, who had brought him much joy. He will be deeply missed by his second family, the wildlife around his home, that he had befriended and cared for. Mr. Kinch enjoyed times spent boating and fishing. He was also an accomplished cook and enjoyed entertaining for his family and friends. Ruby Jr., 85, of Seneca, formerly of Greenfield, was called home by God peacefully Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Mr. Ruby is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Forney Ruby; two children, Tammy Jubeck and her husband, William, of Seneca and Steve Ruby of Murrysville; five grandchildren, Cody, Amber, Victoria, Nicholas and Zachary; a sister, Anna Slobodnyak; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ruby was preceded in death by three brothers, Steve, John and Joe, and two sisters, Peggy and Martha. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Edward P. Kanai Funeral Home, 500 Greenfield Ave., Pittsburgh. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at noon in St. Rosalia Church. Getting it right - Pamela Slater Pamela Slater, 58, of Marienville, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday March 17, 2009, at the Clarion Hospital. Among Mrs. Slater's survivors are three children, Chris Slater of Marienville, Aaron Slater of Fort Lee, Va. and Emily Slater of Marienville.
