It is easy to think she is a Mohney but that is not accurate. Susannah Christine (Mohney) Cribbs had a sister named Elizabeth but she married a Rothrock. In the cemetery in New Bethlhem, Charles W and Mary E are buried next to each other in the McMillan area. So, it makes perfect sense that she was a McMillan. John L and Susannah's children Charles W and Mary E both died of fever within a week of each other and are buried in the same cemetery next to John L and Susannah Christine (Crissie) Cribbs. Charles W and Mary E are buried just down the hill from them. The two families lived across the street from each other in New Beth all of their adult lives. John L died in 1911 and Crissie died in 1920. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. A daughter of the late Bernard and Anna Barker Keating, she was baptized Mary Eileen at St. Joseph Church, Oil City, and attended the parish school. Sister Mary Ann entered the Benedictine Sisters of Erie on July 2, 1940. She made her first profession of vows on June 29, 1942, and her perpetual vows on Aug. 21, 1945. She was a graduate of St. Benedict Academy and attended Villa Maria College in Erie and Stonehill College, Northeast, Mass. She was certified in dietary management and ministered in food service throughout most of her religious life. She served at St. Joseph and Sacred Heart Convents, Sharon, St. Joseph Convent, Oil City, Kennedy Catholic High School and John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She also served at the residence of the bishop of Erie in the tenure of Archbishop John Mark Gannon and Bishop Alfred M. Watson, at the former motherhouse on Ninth Street and at Glinodo Center. Sister Mary Ann was later a receptionist at Benetwood Apartments and at Mt. St. Benedict Monastery, both in Erie. She was a remarkably skillful cook and her kitchen was as orderly and as clean as a surgical suite. She could prepare a picnic or a banquet, each with equal care and equally excellent results. When she managed the kitchen on Ninth Street, young sisters were assigned to help with the simple tasks. She taught them how to mash potatoes and how to clean a stove; how to brown a roast and how to scrub the pots, pans, floors, tables, sinks, windows and doors until they were bright and shining. Early in the morning the kitchen was rich with the aromas of bread rising on the back of the stove and coffee brewing. Mary Ann saw the sisters off to school and made sure they were well nourished. A good lunch followed and she welcomed them home with another feast, whether it was the simple supper of Lent or the contentment of the ordinary days. She served three good meals a day, seven days a week for decades; to bishops and archbishops, dozens of teenagers, elderly residents of John XXII and her sisters in community. Mary Ann had nine brothers and three sisters; she was next to youngest and the last to follow them all to God. She is survived by her Benedictine community and by her nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Hold the fort. I just talked to my husband, ( he is my driver) and he says that Pleasant Hill is south of the 322. That would mean that it is labeled correctly on epodunk. Geezy pete, I could have sworn it was north of the 322, even checked another map that shows it north. Thats what I get for having my nose in papers while he drives! At any rate, still there is Mt. Zion Cemetery and Pleasant Hill Cemetery. But nothing called Mount Pleasant that I know of. There is also Emmanuel Lutheran in Shippenville. Sorry for the confusion. > From: janetaba@windstream.net > To: paclario@rootsweb.com > Date: Tue, 19 May 2009 19:16:18 -0500 > Subject: Re: [PACLARIO] Address for Pleasant HillsCemetery andMount Pleasant Cemetery > > Lol, what a mess - that's kind of why I was looking for the cemetery > address - go to the source so to speak. > I've noticed that there doesn't really seem to be an accurate list of the > cemeteries for this county online - not one that has contact information > anyway. > I really wish that Clarion county had cemetery books as complete as Venango > county does. Janet, It is no problem. I was just stating that the cemetery where George Beamer Kiser is buried is Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Note, however, that on the epodunk site, it says "submitted by an epodunk user Feb. 8, 2007" for both cemeteries. After looking at this site, it appears that someone has confused Mt. Zion Cemetery in Shippenville by calling it "Mount Pleasant" on this map. Because the designation on that map for "Mount Pleasant" is where Mt. Zion Cemetery is. Again, that is not to say that perhaps Mt. Zion was named or known as Mount Pleasant in the past, but it is now Mt. Zion. There are also many Kisers buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Shippenville, including Peter and Mary Strauss Kiser. Then the designation on the map for Pleasant Hill Cemetery looks to be incorrect. It is actually on the north side of 322, (almost where it shows Mount Pleasant). These two cemeteries are actually quite close together. Mt Zion is more on the intersection of 322 and 208 and then Pleasant Hill Cemetery is just down 322 a little bit going towards Clarion. Soo today they are Mt. Zion and Pleasant Hill. I don't know how one would go about correcting info on epodunk. Again, this is not to say that either of these cemeteries weren't known as Mount Pleasant in the past. To my knowledge, there is no Mount Pleasant Cemetery today. If there is, or if someone knows of one, feel free to let me know where it is located. ---------------------------------------- > From: janetaba@windstream.net > To: paclario@rootsweb.com > Date: Tue, 19 May 2009 16:40:06 -0500 > Subject: Re: [PACLARIO] Address for Pleasant Hills Cemetery andMount Pleasant Cemetery > > The reason I want to verify the data is because I'm not very familiar with > Pennsylvania's geography, and when I find things that don't quite match up, > I try to get as much corroborating information as possible. Lol, what a mess - that's kind of why I was looking for the cemetery address - go to the source so to speak. I've noticed that there doesn't really seem to be an accurate list of the cemeteries for this county online - not one that has contact information anyway. I really wish that Clarion county had cemetery books as complete as Venango county does. They are a real blessing for those that don't live in the state. I saw that there was one published for one area of Clarion, but not the rest of the county. I need to go to Clayton soon and copy the pages of the US Cemetery listing book for Clarion. I have about 30 pictures of Kiser stones from Earl Hitt's publication (on CD with pictures). Avalyn Kiser didn't appear to be to thorough in her documentation, so I'm trying to figure out just where she came up with some of the information though. The reason I want to verify the data is because I'm not very familiar with Pennsylvania's geography, and when I find things that don't quite match up, I try to get as much corroborating information as possible. Here is something that I found that made me want to make sure that there weren't two different cemeteries. When you take a look at Mount Pleasant and Pleasant Hills, there are two different latitude/longitude listings. The difference isn't much, but it is there. There appears to be when viewed on the Epodunk map, that they are on two different sides of Highway 322. I was requesting the address so that I could contact the cemetery itself to see if there was a name change, just so that I could add that information to my records. The fact that there were two listings, makes me feel the need to verify the information. I was in no way criticing your research, just trying to clarify things in my own mind. I actually appreciate that you posted it to me so that I would research it further. I've been researching since I was 14 (34 years now), and have found that multiple sources for the same information is always a good idea.
