It is quite full of grammatical errors and run-on sentences, which makes it cute and quaint. It also lists him as the only living relative after it lists his 100 relatives???? I think you will enjoy it. Please see below: 1922 LEOPOLD KUTH OLDEST RESIDENT PASSES AWAY LEOPOLD KUTH, ONE OF UNIONTOWNS OLDEST MERCHANTS AND BEST KNOWN CITIZENS, DIED AT 4 O’CLOCK THIS MORNING AT HIS HOME IN WEST MAIN STREET, AGED 76. MR KUTH’S DEATH RESULTED FROM PLOURO-PNEUMONIA AFTER AN ILLNESS THAT HAD MAD HIM BEDFAST FOR THE PAST WEEK, HIS CONDITION SINCE LAST SATURDAY BEING CRITICAL. IN FAILING HEALTH FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS, MR KUTH HAD STILL BEEN ABLE TO GET ABOUT ON THE STREETS, AND IT WAS ONLY THIS SUMMER THAT HIS INFREQUENT WALKS ALONG MAIN STREET HAD BEEN NOTICED. MR KUTH WAS BORN NEAR BADEN, GERMANY, AUGUST 29, 1846. AT THE AGE OF 17 HE EMIGRATED TO AMERICA, COMING FIRST TO PITTSBURG. AFTER BEING IN BUSINESS THERE AND IN GREENSBURG FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS, MR. KUTH CAME TO UNIONTOWN IN 1876 AND ESTABLISHED A BAKERY ON THE SITE NOW OCCUPIED BY HARRISONS CONFECTIONERY, IN EAST MAIN STREET. IN 1885 HIS STERLING HONESTY AND SPLENDID PRODUCT HAD BYPASSED THE VOLUME OF HIS BUSINESS SO MUCH THAT HE WAS FORCED TO SEEK LARGER QUARTERS, PURCHASING THE PRESENT KUTH PROPERTY IN WEST MAIN STREET WHERE THE EXCLUSIVE SHOP IS NOW LOCATED. HERE HE CONDUCTED FOR YEARS THE LARGEST BAKING ESTABLISHMENT IN FAYETTE COUNTY, ADDING A RETAIL CONFECTIONERY AT THE FRONT OF HIS STORE. IN THIS, MR KUTH INSTALLED THE FIRST SODA WATER FOUNTAIN IN UNIONTOWN, FOLLOWED BY HARRY BEESON AT HIS OLD STAND WHERE MITERKO AND MRAZ ARE NOW LOCATED, BY E.E WENIGER AT HIS OLD STAND WHERE THE SECOND NATIONAL BANK BUILDING NOW STANDS AND BY L.L CRAWFORD AT THE CRAWFORD DRUG STORE IN BROADWAY. PROSPERING THROUGH THE YEARS, MR KUTH INVESTED HIS MONEY IN UNIONTOWN REALTY, BEING AT HIS DEATH THE HOLDER OF SEVERAL VALUABLE PROPERTIES IN THE CITY. IN 1914 MR KUTH RETIRED FROM ACTIVE BUSINESS, LEASING HIS FIRST FLOOR ROOM IN WEST MAIN STREET FOR A MOTION PICTURE THEATRE, THE REX. THIS WAS IN TURN SUPPLANTED BY THE PRESENT EXCLUSIVE SHOP THREE YEARS AGO, THE KUTH FAMILY ALWAYS RETAINING THEIR LIVING APARTMENT ON THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE BUILDING. MR KUTH’S DEATH REMOVES THE LAST OF THE OLD SCHOOL MAIN STREET MERCHANTS, ONE OF THE BEST AND ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL. NOVEMBER 4, 1869, MR KUTH WAS MARRIED IN KITTANNING TO MISS KATHARINE BECKER, WHO SURVIVES HIM WITH EIGHT DAUGHTERS. Sorry! It should be Redbank not Redband for the 1892 Directory.
Does anyone know if and when the Twp. residence of Redband and Sligo Borough will be put on the Clarion Co. website?
