Found two additional daughters for Joshua: Christina M. Agnew born Harrisburg, Dauphin county, Pa. July 1893 and Edna E. Agnew Born May 1886 Harrisburg, Dauphin county. Living with Mother and Jennie McKay's Mother (Christina McKay) in Tionesta 1900. Jennie also with Mother on 1910 census Tionesta Borough. Zimmermann, San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Oil City Betty Marie Bickel Betty Marie Bickel, 79, of 402 Moran St., Oil City, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at her home. Born July 29, 1925, in Emporium, she was the daughter of Lottie M. George. Her childhood had many fond memories of growing up on a farm near Ridgway with her aunt Rose "Billie," her uncle Sherman and her cousins Peggy, Eilene, Ena, Jean, Dorthea and Blair. Mrs. Bickel was and will continue to be an inspiration to her children, grandchildren and others who had the opportunity to learn the Golden Rule by her lifelong example. After moving to Oil City in the late 1940s, Mrs. Bickel worked at Schenck's Restaurant and later retired from Oil City Area School District. She was married Aug. 19, 1950, to Frances E. Bickel Jr., who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Janet Lee Bickel of Butler; a son, Jeffrey Lowell Bickel; three grandchildren, William A. Proper, Drew A. Bickel and Emily S. Bickel; and one great-grandchild, Zachary Proper, all of Oil City. In addition to her mother, Mrs. Bickel was preceded in death by her first son, William J. McMurdy, 51, of Seattle, formerly of Seneca, died Thursday evening, Nov. 18, 2004, in Seattle. Born July 30, 1953, in Oil City, he was the son of Eugene and Martha Rihel McMurdy. Mr. McMurdy was a 1972 Cranberry High School graduate and later completed training in culinary arts. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. McMurdy was employed for 20 years as the head chef for Evergreen Court Retirement Center in Bellvue, Wash. Talley, 74, of Forest Grove, Ore., died Tuesday evening, Nov. 16, 2004, at the Jennings-McCall II Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove. Born March 5, 1930, in Oil City, he was the son of Merton and Izora Myers Talley. Mr. Talley graduated from Oil City High School and later attended Westminster College, where he earned a degree in theater/drama. He also earned a master's degree from Purdue University and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. He was a professor of speech and drama at Millersville University for 32 years. Mr. Talley made his home in Lancaster for 40 years until May, 2004, when he moved to Forest Grove to be near his daughter and her family. He loved all aspects of the theater, but had a great passion for directing. Mary Ann Kellner Mary Ann Kellner, 80, of Seneca died at 12:55 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 in UPMC Northwest Hospital, Cranberry. She had been battling health problems since the spring of this year. Born Nov. 20, 1923 in Rockland, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Katherine Finlan Welsby. As a child she helped on her parents' farm, where she raised produce that they sold in the Oil City area from a horse and wagon. She raised a champion cow that won first place in the Rockland Fair. Mrs. Kellner was valedictorian at Rockland High School in 1942. She graduated from business school in Dallas, Texas. During World War II, she ran a drill press at CPT, making parts for aircraft engines. She later worked as a switchboard operator for Veaches Furniture Store and then as a secretary in the shipping office of the National Transit. She met her future husband while waiting at a bus stop on their way to work there. She was a homemaker, while raising her children, and also worked at the family business, Kellner Forest Lawn & Garden Center from 1975 to 2004. There she enjoyed helping all the customers, working with the flowers and plants and going on merchandise buying trips. She grew up attending Rockland United Methodist Church and, after her marriage, became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City. Mrs. Kellner enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was married July 14, 1951 in the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City to Fred Kellner, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Donald Kellner and his wife, Sandy, of Oil City and David Kellner and his wife, Betsy, of Seneca, and two grandchildren, David Kellner, Jr. and Jillian Kellner, both of Seneca. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Welby; a sister, Katherine Exley, and two half brothers, Gerald Welsby and Ronald Welsby. Mrs. Means was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving in France in World War II. She retired as director of nurses at Grandview Nursing Home. She also worked as a floor nurse at the hospital and in the operating room. She worked for doctors, George Smith and Kamal Aoun. She later did blood pressure work at the Medicine Shoppe and worked as a private duty nurse for Chess Lamberton. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Franklin. She was also a member of the Franklin Nurses' Club and the Franklin VFW. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and playing cards and was a member of many bridge clubs. Mrs. Means was married Aug. 24, 1946 to Glenn W. Means, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, David M. Means and his wife, Darlene, of Saegertown, Glenn Means, Jr. of Bullion and P. Scott Means and his wife, Jennifer, of Gilbert, Ariz.; three grandsons, Michael Hanna of Polk, Matthew E. Means and Nathan G. Summerville, 69, of Daugherty Township, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at the Beaver Medical Center. Born June 26, 1935 in Rimersburg, he was the son of the late Donald and Lucinda Colwell Summerville. Mr. Summerville served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a steelworker with J&L Steel. Mr. Summerville is survived by two daughters, Lucinda L. Knopp and her friend, Frank Oriskovich, of Hopewell Township and Darlene Berry and her husband, William, of New Brighton; a son, Russell Summerville and his wife, Marjorie, of Freedom; nine grandchildren; a great grandson; two brothers, Milo Summerville of Oregon and Donald Summerville of Rimersburg; three sisters, Ellen Newman of Marion, Ohio, Alice Stitt of Rimersburg and Phyllis Hetrick of Erie; several nieces and nephews and a good friend, Charles Rinehart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth A. Myers Summerville; two grandsons, Darl James Summerville and Joseph Andrew Knopp; an infant granddaughter, Mikayla R. Travis Merle L. Travis, 92, of 99 Washington St., New Bethlehem, Porter Township, Clarion County, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004 at his residence, following an extended illness. Born March 21, 1912 in Smithland, Porter Township, Clarion County, he was the son of the late Lawrence S. and Dora Lamison Travis. Mr. Travis was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army infantry and later transferred to artillery in Italy. He was a rifleman, cannoneer and guard patrolman. He was a retired AP Green employee and owned and operated barbershops in Sligo and at his residence many years. He attended the Christian and Military Alliance Church in Clarion for many years and recently affiliated with the First Church of God in New Bethlehem. He enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada, hunting, crafting knives and going to church. On Dec. 8, 1937, Mr. Travis married Bonnie J. Smith, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Betty Greenawalt and her husband, Ronald, of Florida, Patricia Crawford and her husband, Dick, of Mayport and Cathy McNaughton and her husband, Michael, of Rimersburg; five grandchildren, Weston Crawford, Jennifer Crawford, Douglas Greenawalt, Deborah Snyder and Darlene Greenawalt; 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Lawrence "Pete" Travis of New Bethlehem and also many special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Travis was preceded in death by seven brothers, Ted, James, Charles, Paul, Henry, Francis and Harold and three sisters, Hazel, Helen and Clair. Weckerly, 89, of West Freedom, Parker, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, following an illness. Born March 20, 1915 in Callensburg, she was the daughter of the late John Reed and Beulah Stoner Love. Following high school, she attended Marion Business School in Ohio and graduated in 1939. Over the years, she was employed at the Clarion County Courthouse, Central Electric Co-Operative in Parker and Perry Township Board of Supervisors as secretary-treasurer. She has served Perry Township as assessor and a judge of elections for many years. Mrs. Weckerly was a long-time, active member of the West Freedom United Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, board member and as a certified lay speaker, both at West Freedom and elsewhere. She was a past noble grand of the former Lady Freedom Rebekah Lodge in West Freedom and was a past district deputy of the Rebekah Lodge. On Nov. 4, 1939 in Phillipsburg, she married Benjamin Franklin Weckerly, who preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2001. She is survived by a sister, Elnora Sexton of Murraysville; two brothers, Ralph Love of Shippenville and Arthur Love of Sligo; six nieces and a nephew. Mrs. Wineman was an award-winning ceramist, an avid reader and enjoyed fishing and collecting frogs. She is survived by her husband, Jacob W. Wineman, Jr.; two sons, Mark Wineman and his wife, Rebecca, of Lucinda and Kurt Wineman and his wife, Linda, of Mebane, N.C.; four granddaughters, Amber, Alanna, Gracie and Alyssa Wineman; a sister, Mrs. Brian (Kaye) Hamilton of Green Valley, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wineman was preceded in death by two infant daughters and a brother. Visitation hours will not be held and interment will be private. Slaugenhaupt, 84, of 309 Liberty St., Clarion, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at his residence following a courageous nine-year battle with cancer. Born March 20, 1920, he was the oldest child of Stella Mae Wood and Benjamin Edward Slaugenhaupt. Mr. Slaugenhaupt was a graduate of Shippenville High School and Clarion State College, where he received a bachelor of science degree in education. He earned his masters degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and from Clarkson College in Pottstown, N.Y. He interrupted his college education in 1941 when he joined the Air Force in World War II. After serving for four years in England, he was discharged as a master sergeant in 1945. Mr. Slaugenhaupt taught secondary science in Ludlow, Shippenville and Union Joint high schools before he accepted a position teaching in the physics department at Clarion University in 1965. He retired in 1982 after 34 years of educational service. Mr. Slaugenhaupt was a member of Clarion First United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and growing blueberry bushes, Christmas trees and fruit orchards at his farm in Fisher. A self-taught carpenter, he and his wife restored her 19th century family home in Clarion. A lifelong learner, he enjoyed science, spending time with his family and grandsons and following the stock market. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his kindness, understanding and willingness to help others. Mr. Slaugenhaupt was married 58 years ago on June 22, 1946, at Clarion First United Methodist Church to the former Helen B. Hummel, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Ann Vallimont and her husband, James, of Pittsburgh, and Susan Petrey and her husband, Ronald, of Reading; and three grandchildren, Joshua Vallimont and his wife, Jennifer, of Hermosa Beach, Calif., Jeremy Vallimont of State College and Marshall Petrey of Reading. Mr. Slaugenhaupt is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Bonnie) Dolby of Clarion; a brother, Gerald, of New Bethlehem RD 1; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and thoughtful friends and neighbors. Born Nov. 21, 1907, in Pearl, she was the daughter of Melvin and Harriett Daye Wareham. She was a 1926 graduate of Franklin High School. Mrs. Griffin was the oldest member of the Hickory Grove Church of God where she was a member of the choir and the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking and singing. Mrs. Griffin was married in Franklin Aug. 27, 1927, to Park Griffin, who preceded her in death. Surviving are the following children, Eddie Griffin and wife, Adeline, of Rocky Grove, Donald Griffin and wife, Janet, of Clintonville and Mary Ann Wilcox and husband, David, of Titusville; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. Ruth Mae Steen Kenney Ruth Mae Steen Kenney, 83, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Oil City, a 1939 graduate of Oil City High School who had the gift of music and was an accomplished piano player, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at her home. John E. Kost John E. Kost, 90, of Parker, died of natural causes at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at his residence. Born June 2, 1914, in Vandergrift, he was the son of Jacob and Mary Kost. Mr. Kost entered the U.S. Army May 19, 1943, and was honorably discharged Dec. 12, 1945, with the rank of sergeant. During World War II, he earned the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic /Pacific Theater Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Kost began a career with the former Wightman Glass & Bottling Co. in Parker, retiring in 1979 from then Glass Containers Corp. with 37 years of service. His last position was that of quality control supervisor. He was a longtime member of St. Mary Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church in Parker. Mr. Kost was a member of the American Legion Post 598 of Parker and was a life member of VFW Post 7073 of Parker. For many years he served as assistant steward of the VFW Post, assisting the managers in post operations. He also was a life member of the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Kost was a well-known avid golfer and was a member of the Foxburg Country Club for many years. In addition to his passion for the game of golf, he was equally known for his love of vegetable and flower gardening. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Blanche Fross, whom he married May 18, 1940. He then became employed in the fall of 1966 by the former Witco Chemical Co. in Petrolia. He retired as a boiler house operator in 2001 due to ill health. Mr. Gilmore also owned and operated DW Enterprises of Petrolia for a number of years as well as being involved with local logging. He and his wife were among the original members of the Valley Dam Sportsmen & Snowmobile Association of Ridgeville, Butler County. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing and boating. Mr. Gilmore was Catholic by faith. He was married June 11, 1960, to Ruth Ann "Charli" Benesh, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Maria A. Buzard of Bruin and Mrs. Kent (Marlene K. "Marty") Pope of Emlenton; one son, Donald E. Gilmore Jr. of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Nicole Hanshaw of Virginia Beach, Va., Tricia Gilmore of Pittsburgh and Chase Hunter Pope of Emlenton; and three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Sara and Ashley Hanshaw of Springfield, Ohio. Cora Josephine Hartsock Tologo Cora Josephine Hartsock Tologo, 81, of 2138 Horsecreek Road, Cranberry Township, died at 7:10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca. She was born April 1, 1923, in Williamsport. Mrs. Tologo attended the Free Methodist Church of Oil City where she was a member of the WMI. She enjoyed embroidery and reading. Mrs. Tologo was married Aug. 10, 1946, to Walter J. Tologo, who died Feb. 20, 1980. Surviving are one son, Regis Tologo of Franklin; one daughter, Sherrie Ann Tologo of Oil City; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Tologo of Oil City; five grandchildren, David Tologo and wife, Ulrike of Fort Lee, Va., Michael Tologo and wife, Teresa, of York, Lori Johnson and husband, Bobby Jo, of Bossier, La., Amy Griffin and husband, Michael, of Oil City and Keith Tologo of Oil City; and four great-grandchildren, Brian Johnson, Cindy Tologo, Mark Tologo and Patrick Griffin, all at home.
