I am sorry if I have miss-lead anyone. I do not know of a book by this title. The closest I can come to is are the birth and baptism records on: http://www.pa-roots.com/~clarion/church/zionlutheranchurch.html transcribed and translated by Cornelius Koppenhoffer. If there is a history of the Zion Lutheran and Reformed Church at Shannondale, I would also be interested in it. Hi Mary, My Smiths and Harrigers are not connecated at all. My Smiths are the ancesters of the Phillips line and the Harrigers married into the Orr line. The Phillips are part of my husbands Mothers family and the Harriagers part of his fathers family.--- However William Mead Phillips married Margaret Helen Smith in 1897. She was the daughter of Samuel Smith who came from Glasgow Scotland. The Harrieger--Samuel Curtin Harriger married Catherine Minerva Orr in 1897. He was the son of George Harriger and Hannah Rhodes. If any of this matches please let me know. I think we have chatted before--several years ago problably about our family lines, don't remember the outcome however. Have a good day. I use Heritage Quest to find census data. When browsing Armstrong Co., looking for Red Bank Twp. in 1840 I get Kiskiminitas Twp. This has frustrated me for months. If you click on "Search", click on "Find By Page Number" select Series 1840-M704, Roll 442, Page 60 you will find Red Bank. My Smathers connection is George Delph (my GGGGrandfather) was married to Mary Smathers In the late 1700's. I don't have any other info on Samthers. Sorry.. Eunice
Hi Bev. I don't know very much about my Evans family, but I will share what I know. My great grandmother Elizaeth L Evans was found in the 1850 Clarion Co. census, living with her mother Elizabeth Means Griffith, along with her brother David Evans. The names and birthdays of these two coincide with info that I have, I don't know who the Evans father was. Elizabeth was born in 1833. My mother and aunts talked of their grandmother coming to America on a boat from Wales; so I believe the father died in Wales and their mother married Thomas?Griffith in Wales.. The Griffith name tied in with what my mother and aunts talked about. Elizabeth married John/Jerry Bagnell; they had two daughters, Anne and Ida (my grandmother). Iam at a brickwall on John Bagnell. Elizabeth married a John Evans (from the Etna area of Pittsburgh) in the 1870's..John had a sister Mary who married ?Gray. They also lived in Pittsburgh,Pa. This probably doesn't fit into your picture, but perhaps someone out there will have a connection. Thank you for asking. Eunice
Hi Eunice, Thanks for the information. My EVANS appear to have been in the U.S. somewhat longer. However, the process of elimination with a common name like EVANS can help some. Did you know there's a EVANS list? Just subscribe to it like you did this one EVANS-L-request@rootsweb.com. It's very busy, but you just might get a hit. It's like kissing a lot of frogs before finding the price. Good luck, Bev in Calif. ----- Original Message ----- From: <C21eunice@aol.com> To: <PACLARIO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 17, 2005 7:33 PM Subject: Re: [CLARION] EVANS-Bev > Hi Bev. > I don't know very much about my Evans family, but I will share what I know. > > My great grandmother Elizaeth L Evans was found in the 1850 Clarion Co. > census, living with her mother Elizabeth Means Griffith, along with her brother > David Evans. Hi Chuck, I should have said Clarion County was formed from PARTS of Armstrong and Venango Counties. Sorry about that. Blessings, Bev ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charles A. Check the Armstrong and Venango census for 1840 township names. General comment I get is "Gee, people sure moved around a lot". Nope, boundries for townships and counties changed. > Chuck > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Bev Morris<mailto:bmom@rickadee.net> > To: PACLARIO-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:PACLARIO-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, January 17, 2005 11:23 AM > Subject: [CLARION] Re: Clarion County History > > > Hi Chuck, > Thanks for the info. > Were the history books incorrect in saying that?
