    3. Does anyone have The Swiss Emigration Book, Vol. 1, from Closson Press, 1993 by Schrader-Muggenthaler? I would really appreciate a look up if you do. On page 216b there is a Fridolin Wunderly. He is my gg grandfather. I'm trying to find out if it tells the name of his ship, port of departure and port of arrival in Philidelpia. Thanks so much for any help. Darla Kelly

Agnello Elizabeth L. Agnello, 73, of 146 St Charles St., Seneca, died Friday, May 6, 2005, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh after a brief illness. Born March 6, 1932, in Knox, she was a daughter of Harry and Dorothy Jacobs Dunkle. Mrs. Agnello was a 1950 graduate of White Memorial School in Knox. She retired March 6, 1992, as a casework supervisor at the Venango County assistance office after 22 years with the PA Department of Public Welfare starting at the Clarion County assistance office. Prior to that, she had been an advertising representative for Venango Newspapers in Clarion County for eight years. Mrs. Agnello was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City. She had previously served as secretary of the administrative board, trustee, member of the pastor-parish relations committee, president of United Methodist Women and chairman of the worship committee. She was also a member and former member of the board of directors of the Belles Lettres Club, was a former treasurer of the YWCA, a former member and secretary of the Oil City Library Commission, a member of the Friends of the Oil City Library and a former member of the Oil Creek District Library Advisory Council. Mrs. Agnello enjoyed playing bridge. She was married July 21, 1950, in the Knox United Methodist Church to Joseph J. Agnello and he survives. Also surviving are three sons, Joe Agnello and his wife Karen of Cranberry Township, Jason Agnello and his wife Brenda of Oil City and L. Frank Agnello of Knox; and 5 grandchildren, Jamie, Lindsay, Jeremy, Rachel and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Morrison Funeral Home, Oil City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Byron K. Myers, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Knox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Oil City Library, 2 Central Ave., Oil City. Joan Welker Birnbaum Joan Welker Birnbaum, 82, of Hanover, N.H., died April 29, 2005, at her home at Kendal at Hanover of natural causes. She was born April 26, 1923, in Oil City, and was the only child of George and Josephine Powell Welker. Mrs. Birnbaum graduated from Oil City High School in 1941. She was an avid horseback rider and jitterbug contestant. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1945 and then worked at Price-Waterhouse in New York City. She was married Jan. 8, 1949, to Theodore M. Birnbaum. The couple moved to Rye, N.Y., where they raised three daughters. Mrs. Birnbaum was active in local volunteer work for 26 years. In 1976, she moved to Greenwich, Conn. and returned to full-time work. Mrs. Birnbaum retired in 1990 and relocated to Hanover where she was a founding member of the Kendal at Hanover community. Mrs. Birnbaum is survived three daughters, Lyuba Birnbaum of Calif. and Margaret Birnbaum and Crispin Birnbaum of Mass.; and many friends. A memorial service will take place June 18 at Kendal at Hanover. Donations may be made to Wellesley College, the Cadbury Fund at Kendal at Hanover, or a charity of one's choosing. Mrs. Birnbaum's ashes will be interred in the Grove Hill Cemetery in October. Thomas L. Cornman Thomas L. Cornman Sr., 68, of Parker and formerly of Vowinckel, died late Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born April 5, 1937, at Mosgrove, he was the son of the late Ernest "Red" and Mary Jane John Cornman Sr. Mr. Cornman was a retired truck driver. He was an active fisherman and camper. He was married Aug. 16, 1985, to the former Katherine Shoemaker who preceded him in death April 25, 1995. Mr. Cornman is survived by five daughters, one son, several brothers, one sister and several grandchildren. Born July 12, 1910, in Byromtown, Marienville, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Maude V. Hummel Frazier. Mrs. Crispin lived in Marienville all her life except for the past eight years. She was a housewife and attended the Methodist church. Mrs. Crispin enjoyed her spending time with her family and playing cards. She was married Dec. 2, 1933, to Park E. Crispin Sr. who preceded her in death April 3, 1976. Mrs. Crispin is survived by a daughter, Rae Seybert of Butler; a son, Park E. Crispin Jr. of Marienville; two brothers, John W. Frazier Jr. of Frewsburg, N.Y. and Thomas W. Frazier of Warren; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Frazier; a sister, Mildred Rodgers; and a grandson, Gerald Seybert. "Dottie" Maxton, 57, of Leeper, died Thursday afternoon, May 5, 2005, at Clarion Hospital following a brief illness. Born Dec. 18, 1947, in Fulton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Lilly Buehrer Beltz. Mrs. Maxton was known for her community service as a former Girl Scout leader and as an EMT with the Farmington Area Ambulance Service. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion. She was a fun-loving grandmother and devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Maxton was married March 4, 1966, to George F. Maxton III who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Beverly Schmader and her husband Jake of Lucinda and Diane Roy and her husband Tim of Indiana; a son James Maxton and his wife Tracy of Leeper; three brothers, James, John and Robert Beltz, all of Ohio; five sisters, Thelma Greutman, Leuetta Sullivan, Jean Schnitkey and Betty Pace, all of Ohio, and Leona Honeck of South Carolina; and nine grandchildren. "Billy" McLendon, 64, of Lamartine, died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at UPMC Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 11, 1941, in Oil City, he was the son of William and Leah Jane Master McLendon. Mr. McLendon was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Lamartine where he rang the bell, took the offering and served as greeter. He had perfect Sunday school attendance for 33 years. He enjoyed a number of activities such as bowling, Special Olympics, mowing the yard, spending time with his nieces, household chores, outdoor activities and giving presents. He was fond of dancing and music, family gatherings and holiday festivities. He loved family pets and their care. Mr. McLendon was a special person with a great sense of humor. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family, friends and neighbors. He is survived by a sister, Jacqueline Beam and her husband Daryl; two brothers, Randy McLendon and his wife Molly and Robert McLendon; four nieces, Shannon and Heather Beam and Kennedy and Reagan McLendon; a great-niece, Chloee Beam, all of Lamartine; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. George Thomas "Joe" Reott George Thomas "Joe" Reott, 82, of Clarion died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at La Casa Nostra in Guadalajara, Mexico, due to complications from a lengthy illness. Born March 19, 1923, in Knox, he was a son of Thomas and Almeda Reott of Knox. Mr. Reott was employed for many years as a journeyman printer for The Clarion News and for The Derrick and Venango Newspapers in Oil City. Mr. Reott was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion. He is survived by a daughter, Christine Marie Rankin of Brookville; a son, Edward Allen Reott and his long-time companion, Marcy Underdahl, of Price, Utah; two grandchildren, Jason Adam Reott of Brookville, and Stacie Marie Wolbert of Clarion; and two great-grandchildren, Damon Wolbert and Dillon Wolbert, both of Clarion. Daugherty, Franklin, formerly of Old Route 8, Polk Dorothy Maxton, Leeper William D. "Billy" McLendon, Lamartine John Daniel Berlin John Daniel Berlin, 78, of Knight Town Road, Shippenville, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 26, 1926, in Elk Township, Clarion County, he was the son of George W. and Elizabeth L. Botts Berlin. He was a 1944 graduate of Shippenville High School. Mr. Berlin then joined the U.S. Navy where he served until his retirement in 1967. During his tours of duty, he saw action in World War II and the Korean War, serving aboard the USS Philadelphia, USS Norfolk, USS Dewey and the USS Manchester. At the time of his retirement, he was senior chief fire control technician for the ship's missile systems. He received the following commendations: World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle East Medal, China Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal with Asia clasp, Korean Service Medal with three stars, United Nations Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Cuba), National Defense Medal with Bronze Star and Combat Action Medal. Following his Navy retirement, Mr. Berlin worked for 15 years for the Civil Service in missile systems at Fort Hueneme, Calif. He again retired and move back to his beloved Pennsylvania in 1982, settling near Shippenville. Mr. Berlin became involved in many area charities and organizations. He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shippenville where he served on the church council and was always available for any work that was needed at the church. He was a member of the Knox Lions Club, served as past King Lion, chaired the membership committee and chaired the eye screening program at local schools. In recognition of his service to the Lions, he was awarded the "Melvin Jones" Award which is the highest award in Lionism. Mr. Berlin was involved for many years in the Grange where he held several district offices. He originally was with Prosperity Grange near Shippenville before transferring to Murphy Grange near Sligo. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to Edenburg Lodge No. 550, F. & A.M. in Knox. Mr. Berlin served on the board of directors for the Knox Library and as a trustee, represented both the Lions Club and Elks Township with that organization. He enjoyed gardening, mowing his lawn and sewing, donating many articles to various charities. He also enjoyed watching and feeding the many birds and animals that came to his back yard. Surviving are two sisters, Anna C. Ekis of Shippenville and Helen L. Parker of Clarion; two brothers, Jacob L. Berlin of Shawneetown, Ill., and Floyd W. Berlin of Gainesville, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom referred to him lovingly as "Uncle John." In addition to his parents, Mr. Berlin was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick A. Berlin; and his beloved dog, "Rusty." The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the David C. McEntire Funeral Home, 504 E. Penn St., Knox. Born June 10, 1924, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of Anton and Mary Niehl Ribic. Mrs. Berrett retired as a clerk in the shipping department at Westinghouse. She attended St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mrs. Berrett enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting. She was married Oct. 14, 1959, to George Berrett, who died June 23, 2002. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martin (Jeanne) Saban of Lake Tapawingo, Mo., and Mrs. Ken (Esther) Tweede of Independence, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Rankin, 82, of Williams, Ore., formerly of Oil City, survived by a sister-in-law, Joyce Rankin, an uncle and his wife, Robert and Mary Herman, and a special friend, Mary Helen Mead, all of Oil City, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, in Three Rivers Community Hospital. Betty J. Sedwick Betty J. Sedwick, 84, of Parker, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, of natural causes. Born June 2, 1920, in Fertigs, Venango County, she was the daughter of Byron and Nora Perry Boocks. Mrs. Sedwick was employed for many years at the former Corso's Market in Parker and later worked for the former W.A. Moyer and Sons Level Vial Works in Parker. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Six Points, near Eau Claire, where she was active in many duties of the church. Mrs. Sedwick was long recognized for her ability to bake lemon pies that were featured at the monthly fund-raising dinners at the church. She was married Aug. 7, 1939, to the Rev. Wilbert "Bill" Sedwick, who died April 21, 2001. A devout Christian, Mrs. Sedwick worked along side her husband in his lifelong ministry throughout western Pennsylvania in the Church of God of Prophecy. She served many years as the head cook at the summer youth camps at the Cowansville location of the Church of God of Prophecy. While a patient at Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, she was found daily visiting and praying with residents as long as her health permitted. She was an outstanding grandmother and great-grandmother to those young folks in any manner she could as a model. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (June) McKee of Parker, Mrs. Bogan (Cookie) Goughler of Reno, Venango County, and Mrs. Richard (Darlene) Bowser of Parker; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by one brother, Dwight Boocks of Fertigs; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary, in 1985 and a granddaughter, Amanda Goughler, in 1994; two sisters, Montez Davis and Mary Van Cleve; and two brothers, Frank and Thomas Boocks. Born July 6, 1947, in Monongahela Township, Greene County, she was the daughter of Norma Elaine Walsh Sloneker and the late Thomas Edward Sloneker. Ms. Sloneker enjoyed camping, gardening, bingo, karaoke, traveling and making people laugh. Surviving are her mother, Norma Elaine Sloneker of Oil City; two daughters, Patricia Hack and Holly Oakes, both of Oil City; two sons, John Klem of Oil City and James Romanias and his wife, Stacey, of Cranberry; eight grandchildren, Mary Hack, Ronnie Hack and William Hack, all of Oil City, Khya DeMarco and Helena Orner, both of Oil City, Jessie Romanias and Hailey Romanias, both of Cranberry, and Owen Klem of Oil City. She also is survived by one brother, Donald W. In 1870 Her parents B.F. Neely is 26, Sarah is 24, brother Elmer E is 6, and "Elcy" is 2. I don't find them again until 1900 (no 1890 census) In the 1900 census the birth dates are recorded. In Beaver Twp. Benjamin F Neely was born May 1841, Sarah, June 1845 and the couple had been married 36 years, had 3 children and 2 were still living. Living with them are their grandchildren: Lotta Best, Feb 1883, and Grover C. Best, born March 1885. In 1910, Frank B. Neely is 66, Sara is 64, Cleve G. Best, grandson is 25, Lottie Best, granddaughter is 27 listed as divorced (?) and great-granddaughter Rachele M Edinger is 6 yrs old. No sign of Elsie (in the online index) until 1930 in Richland Twp where she is with Benjamin F. Way, age 68, Elsie is 62. He had been married at age 37 and she at age 31 (census info.) In 1870 and 1880, Ben Way is living with his parents John and Sarah. There is no sign of Dollie or Oliver in the index but they may have been born and died between census years.

Born Nov. 19, 1924, in Knighttown, she was the daughter of Thomas and Donna Beane Knight. She was a graduate of Shippenville High School. Mrs. Hartman had worked at Gallagher's Pharmacy and Rea & Derrick Pharmacy in Clarion and later retired from IU 6 in Clarion. She was a member of the Shippenville United Methodist Church where she was active with the choir, Vacation Bible School and the WSCS. Mrs. Hartman was a member of the Keystone High School Music Association, the Knox Community Choir and the Shippenville Civic Club. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was a judge of elections for Elk Township for several years. She received a certificate for 50 consecutive years of voting. Mrs. Hartman enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, quilting, fishing trips to Canada and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was married June 12, 1942, to Donald E. Hartman, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Joyce Hummel and husband, Lavier, of Sligo and Beverly Gatesman of Knox; two sons, Martin Hartman and wife, Darlene, of Shippenville RD and John Hartman of Shippenville; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Braden, 104, of Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation, Sligo, formerly of Liberty Street, Clarion, died at 2:45 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation, following a lingering illness. Born April 17, 1901, in upper Limestone Township, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Clara McKinley Braden. Ms. Braden graduated in 1920 from Clarion Normal School, now Clarion University of Pennsylvania, earning a bachelor's degree. She earned her master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She attended the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia and also completed State College extension classes. Ms. Braden taught in the Pittsburgh area until she returned to the family home in 1938. She taught English and reading in Porter Township Consolidated School, Clarion County, until she went to Kittanning to teach reading. Ms. Braden retired as a remedial reading instructor. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Verona. After her retirement, she attended the Corsica Presbyterian Church. She was lecturer of the Kingsville Grange for several years, and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary at Strattanville, as well as the Clarion VFW auxiliary. Ms. Braden served a short time with Women's Army Corps. She most recently was a member of the Clarion Historical Society, the American Legion, the auxiliary of the Strattanville post and the Pennsylvania Teachers' Association. Ms. Braden was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Braden, an infant, and Chester M. Braden, a former county commissioner; two sisters, Mrs. Perry (Jennie) Kiser, and Alice Braden; and one niece, Clara Louise Kiser. At Ms. Braden's request, there will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today in Goble Funeral Home, Clarion, with the Rev. James Dietrich officiating. Interment will follow in the Braden lot at Pisgah Cemetery, Corsica. Born March 28, 1932, in Boston, she was the daughter of John Walsh and Ellen Hobbins, both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Fotos was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Boston, and attended the State Teachers College at Boston. She was an elementary teacher aide in the Delaware Valley School District and the Clarion Area School District, where she specialized in teaching reading and mathematics to a variety of foreign students in the Title I program. While at Delaware Valley, she was a charter member and treasurer of the Matamoras-Milford Keystone Community Club. Mrs. Fotos was an avid antique collector and enjoyed shopping for and acquiring a number of unusual items of historical interest. The Nancy L. Fotos Scholarship Award was created in 1993 to annually aide a deserving Clarion-area scholar who was a student in the Title I program and is pursuing a post-secondary program. She was married March 24, 1953, to Joseph P. Fotos, who survives. Mr. Himes worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion for 45 years, retiring in 1987. He was a World War II veteran, having served in India, Burma and the Pacific Theater of Operations. Mr. Himes was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, the Meritorious Unit Award, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal, one Bronze Star and the Victory Medal. Mr. Himes enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was married April 1948 to Lena Franceschi, who preceded him in death in 1986. Mr. Himes then married Alice M. Siverling Spader, September 1991. She survives. Born Oct. 3, 1927, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Harold E. Sheats and Eva Edna Brown Sheats, both of whom preceded her in death. Ms. Sheats attended Oil City schools and lived in the Oil City area most of her life. She had previously worked at the old Arlington Hotel and Holiday Inn, last working in the laundry department of the Oil City Hospital. Ms. Sheats was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included watching WWF wrestling, NASCAR and soap operas. She also loved animals and enjoyed fishing. Ms. Sheats is survived by a brother and his wife, Ronald E. and Carol Sheats of Oil City; a sister, Doris Smith of Oil City; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She lived in Emporium from 1936 until 1978 when she moved to DuBois. Born July 24, 1913, in Clarion, she was the daughter of Samuel A. and Grace Master Carroll. She was a 1932 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. Mrs. Altman had worked at the Devlund Pharmacy in Emporium. She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church in DuBois since 1979. While in Emporium, she was a member of the United Methodist Church, a charter member of the WSCS and a member of the Lydia Circle. She was a member since 1948 of the Emporium Chapter No. 101, Order of Eastern Star, and was a Golden Star. During World War II, Mrs. Altman was a local member of the War Finance Committee, selling war bonds. Mrs. Altman was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, square dancing and spending time at "Romar Lodge," a summer home located near Stevenson Dam in Cameron County. She was married Aug. 24, 1933, to Roy F. Altman, who died March 10, 1978. Surviving are a daughter, Eleanor "Ellie" Klees of DuBois; two grandsons, Daniel Klees and Douglas Klees; and three great-grandchildren, John Klees, Michael Klees and Sarah Parker. She also is survived by one sister, Mrs. George (Hazel) Kinchen of Jamestown, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Anna Marie Snyder and Margaret Carroll; and two nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Altman was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Melaney and Goldie Shoup, and one brother, Howard Carroll. Mr. Carnathan was a member of the U.S. Army as a gunner in the 155th Howitzer Co. Artillery Battalion during the Korean War. He worked for General Electric in Erie and attended cabinetry-making school. Mr. Carnathan was a member and served as president of Union Local 441 in Knox. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Rimersburg. Mr. Carnathan enjoyed being with his family, farming, gardening, woodworking and camping. His wife of 51 years, the former Martha Kay Mortimer, survives. Also surviving are three sons and their wives, Eric and Susan Carnathan of Rimersburg, Randy and Rhonda Carnathan of Latrobe and Steve and Marge Carnathan of Rimersburg; eight grandchildren, Adrian, Alex and wife, Mindy, and Mitch of Rimersburg, Curtis and Jordan of Latrobe, Jessica, Alicia and Jacob, all of Rimersburg; and one great-grandson, Hunter, of Rimersburg. Nathan Warren Gourley Nathan Warren Gourley, 23, of New Bethlehem, died early Thursday, April 28, 2005, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a graduate of Redbank Valley High School where he was a great athlete in wrestling, football and track. Mr. Gourley worked for G&G Gas of which he was part owner. He enjoyed mountain climbing with his brothers, motorcycle riding, skiing, traveling and caving. He loved family get-togethers and his many good friends. He also had a love of working with wood and carpentry. Mr. Gourley was fun loving and took good care of his grandparents and nieces. Mr. Shumaker was a member of the Oakland Church of God in Distant and held membership in the VFW, American Legion and Eagles Club, all of New Bethlehem. Born Aug. 17, 1925, in Kittanning, he was the son of the late William Scott and Nancy McGee Lehner. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Lois Grafton Lehner. He was a 1942 graduate of Kittanning High School. Following graduation, Mr. Lehner enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 20 years of active duty and 10 years with the Fleet Reserve. During his naval career spanning from 1942 until his retirement in 1972, he served aboard a battle ship, two heavy cruisers, an aircraft carrier and three destroyers. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the National Rifle Association. Mr. Lehner was employed for five years at the Pentagon as a staff member of the Chief of Naval Operations. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Lehner first was married to Ethel Lehner, who died March 20, 1968. He then married Philys Canady and she died July 5, 1995. Surviving are a cousin, Jean George and husband, Thomas, of Rimersburg; a stepdaughter and husband, Sharon and Richard Focht of Elyria, Ohio; and one brother Joseph Paul Lehner of Carlisle. Mr. Miles was a member of the East Brady United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and trustee. He also was a member of the East Brady Volunteer Fire Co. for 56 years and was one of the founding members of the East Brady Area Ambulance Service, serving as a driver for 28 years. Mr. Miles was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting and all types of sports. He was married Feb. 23, 1951, to Bertha Jean "BJ" Hogan, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Judy A. Mr. Settlemire served in the U.S. Army, trained at Fort Belvoir, Va., and served in Korea and Okinawa. He received the Army Occupational Medal. He was retired from Oilwell Supply where he worked as a pipe fitter. Mr. Settlemire was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the VFW, Pulaski Club and the Oil City Lodge No. 363, F. & A.M. Mr. Settlemire enjoyed camping, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters. He was married in Plumer Dec. 27, 1952, to the former Shirley M. Burt, who survives. Also surviving are two sons and their wives, James E. and Patricia Settlemire of Oil City and Michael L. and Paula Settlemire of Seneca; two daughters and their husbands, Cathy D. and Harold Silvis and Kimberly A. and William Schettler, all of Ahrensville; nine grandchildren, Tracey Millin of Venus, Amanda Settlemire and Benjamin Rutherford, both of Oil City, Kristi Settlemire, Matthew Settlemire and Sara Settlemire, all of Seneca, Billy Schettler of Ahrensville, Jaime Settlemire of Oil City and Wesley Schettler of Ahrensville; and two great-granddaughters, Briann Millin and Madison Millin, both of Venus. He also is survived by two sisters, Joan Pokay of Oil City and Jane Lehnortt of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother. She worked for the FBI in Washington during World War II, She also worked at J.C. Penney and Jo-Ann Fabric Shop and was owner-operator of Mae's Fabric Shop, all in the Bradford area. Mrs. Chapman was married in Gifford Nov. 18, 1944, to John N. Chapman, who died April 12, 1996. He was born in Franklin, the son of David F. and Bertha E. Brown Nichols. Mr. Nichols served two years in the European Theater during World War II. He was an engineering graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and Scabbard and Blade honorary fraternity. Mr. Nichols was employed by B.F. Goodrich Tire Co. for 38 years, working in Akron, Ohio, and Tuscaloosa. He was a devout member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa where he served as children's Sunday school teacher and also as an elder. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Virginia Marwood Nichols; a sister-in-law, Phyllis M. Born Nov. 8, 1930, in Piney Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of F. Walter and Adda Stopp Finnefrock. Mrs. Rhodes was a secretary for 17 years for the Clarion Area School District and also was secretary to the United Methodist Administrative Board. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion. Mrs. Rhodes enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved listening to them play the piano and attending her grandson's baseball games. She first was married in 1950 to Donald C. Newell Jr., who died in 1966. She then was married Oct. 10, 1987, to Paul Rhodes, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Kimberly Maxwell and husband, Bret, of Clarion; one stepdaughter, Sharon Kavanagh of Maryland; three grandchildren, Brooke, Evan and Tiffany Maxwell; and two stepgrandchildren, Joseph and Andrew Kavanagh. She also is survived by two brothers, Robert Finnefrock and wife, Louise, of Clarion and Jay Finnefrock of Sligo; and two sisters, Hazel Pavlick of Hermitage and Doris Carungi of Clarion. Scott, 68, of Sanford Road, Pittsfield RR 2, formerly of Franklin, died Monday evening, April 25, 2005, in UPMC Northwest, Seneca, following an extended illness. Born Dec. 16, 1936, in Warren, Pa., she was the daughter of Iilo and Alice Ackley Scott. She has resided in Sanford for past 13 years, moving there from Franklin. Mrs. Scott was a 1954 graduate of Youngsville High School and in 1959 graduated from Clarion Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She earned her master's degree from Edinboro University. She was as a first-grade school teacher for 35 years, working at Polk Elementary School and for three years in Utica. Mrs. Scott was a lifelong and very active member of Sanford United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Bible study. She also was a member of Eldred Grange and P.S.E.R.S. Mrs. Scott was an avid photography enthusiast and visited the birth and burial places of all the U.S. presidents. She was a Civil War buff, visiting a majority of the Civil War battlefields. She had traveled to Europe, including East Germany, visiting the Berlin Wall. She visited England, Westminster, Scandanavia, the Vatican and Oberammergae where she saw the Passion Play. She was very active in the lives of her nieces and nephews, taking them on trips and to movies. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. John (Marcy) White of Sanford; two brothers, Jim Scott and wife, Jean, of Garland, and Charlie Scott of Warren, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. Kristen Jo Gustafson Wierbinski Kirsten Jo Gustafson Wierbinski, 44, of 721 12th St., Franklin, died unexpectedly Friday, April 22, 2005, in McGee Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh, Born Sept. 27, 1960, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Donald Eugene Gustafson of Livingston, Ala., and Medora "Dodie" Wattsjer Wierbinski of Franklin. She graduated from Franklin High School and shared co-leads in the productions of "Hello Dolly" and "Guys and Dolls" with her lifelong best friend, Lisa Hancox of Franklin. Ms. Wierbinski was a well-known local singer, gifted pianist and artist. She enjoyed music, writing and poetry. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her three children, Shane William Lindsey, Garry DeLong Jr. and Alexandria J. DeLong, all of Franklin; a sister, Kira L. Shirey and husband, Michael, of Franklin; two brothers, Shawn Wattsjer Wierbinski of Franklin and Donald Arthur Gustafson of Oil City; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Robert W.
