What really thru me off was that there were 2 Gaius Dickinsons. He is the son of one of the older Gaius Dickinson's sons. I am still looking for information on the Dickinson family from Chester Co, PA mainly my gr gr grandfather Isaac Dickinson b 1824 believed to have been born in Berks Co, PA he was the only male Dickinson child that I could find that was between 5 - 10 years old in the 1830 Census was in the household of Gaius Dickinson. Gaius Dickinson (the elder one) was a Quaker. But in the 1840 Census there are males >15 and <20 in the households of Nathaniel Dickinson, Benjamin Dickinson and Joseph Dickinson all in Robeson Twp. Berks Co. These are all relatives of Gaius Dickinson. I believe that Nathaniel is the father of the younger Gaius Dickinson. I believe that Isaac Dickinson is the son or grandson of the second Gai! > us! > Dickinson, or one of Gaius' brothers. There was a young male child living with Gaius Dickinson during the 1830 Census. But he could just as easily be the son of one of the first Gaius Dickinson's sons. Curse them for not including ALL names in the earlier Census'! > > Isaac married Martha ? and moved to Chester Co. Believe that Martha's family is from Chester Co. I found them in both the 1860 and 1870 Chester Co. Census and both had my great grandfather listed in his household as his son. I also found him in the 1880 Census living with his daughter Caroline and her husband, but there was no mention of his wife Martha. I was told that Gaius Dickinson died in 1800, so is the Gaius Dickinson that is listed in the 1830 Berks Co Census his son or grandson? I did not realize that there were 2 of them. > > Here is what was listed in the 1870 Census: > > The Isaac Dickinson 46 M (b. 1824) and his wife Martha 42 F (b. abt 1828) and their family are listed in the 1870 Census in Valley Twp.
