    3. Since I wrote my earlier message, I have seen the original archived discussion on this. It mentions Samuel Nutt's forge on French Creek (near Phoenixville ?) and both Cassea and Cuccasea. The original message was In an email today, Charlene states: "...Walter and John WINTER were hung July 03, 1728 Cuccasea, Chester Co Pennsylvania for killing what they thought were "hostile" Indians." Does anyone recognize that place name: Cuccasea? This incident probably took place in what is now Delaware County, possibly in the area immediately south of Philadelphia along the Delaware River. Any help on its geography will be appreciated. Marj Winter in Oriental, NC --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). 3. I found a detailed account of the incident in Pennypacker's "Annals of Phoenixville and Its Vicinity". It comfirms that the Winters' were tried, convicted and hanged, but doesn't mention the names you are asking about. It does say that they were held "in gaol in Chester". Apparently, Samuel Nutt was the guy who got the sheriffs to go after the Winters. I gather that the killing of the Indians took place near what is now Phoenixville, but the hanging most likely was down near Chester, as you had theorized. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marjorie B.
