I had to chuckle - those of us researching early Chester County....we are all related in some way!! ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2004 9:10 AM Subject: [PACHESTE] STERN,SPEAKMAN,MERCER,KEELER,ROTHHAAS,HAINS,CURRIER,HOOPES, > Hello Chester listers, > > My Chester county lines include: SPEAKMAN, MERCER, KEELER, STERN, ELWELL, ROTHHAAS (ROTHAS), HAINS, CURRIER, HOOPES, PIERCE, HARLAN, GILPIN, STARR, EACHUS, LEWIS, PYLE, PENNEL, MINSHALL, TAYLOR, SMEDLEY, WEST, WOLLERTON, WORALL, and many others. I have met many "cousins" through this helpful list and appreciated the invaluable information, leads, and insights of list members for 8 years now. I am happy to correspond with others searching for family information. > > My brick walls: > > Howard E. SPEAKMAN possibly from the Caln/Thorndale, Coatsville, Downingtown, East Bradford area. Married to and fathered two children with Naomi MERCER who was b. about 1900. No record of him living with the family in 1920 census when first child William Arthur SPEAKMAN was 11 months old. Second child Lynwood SPEAKMAN b. about 1921 and died in early childhood, no birth certificate or census records exist for him. I have no information on which branch of the prolific SPEAKMAN family in Chester county Howard may have come from. He seems to disappear after Lynwood's birth, and it's unclear if there was a divorce or why he never lived with his wife. Perhaps he had returned from serivice in WWI and was stationed at a base? Just speculating. > > Thomas ELWELL d. 1868 & Annie Elender THOMPSON. IGI info says they married in Kimbleville in 1842. The 1840 Census lists a Thomas ELWELL who was age 30 to 40 living in London Grove with 1 male age 5 to 10, and one male age 15to 20, and 4 females: one under 5, one under 10, one under 30, and one under 40. > > Any help with these two families would be much appreciated. Thanks, and best wishes for finding new leaves on your family tree in the new year! > > -Kim > Berkeley, CA > > > > ==== PACHESTE Mailing List ==== > Stop by our associated website for Chester County Genealogy at > http://www.pa-roots.com/~chester/ > > > >
