    1. Re: [PACHESTE] Who would you like to come for Thanksgiving Dinner

    3. I would love to invite my father, Charles Finley Lewis, born in Illinois in 1905. He died in 1971--and only after that did I get serious about genealogy. Based on what little info he had, with some help from his younger brother George, who died in 1998, I was able to track down their parents--both raised in an orphanage in Ohio--grandparents, greats, etc.--back to Philip Lewis who served in the Revolution in Chester Co. PA. (and maybe back to his father, another Philip Lewis of Chester, but that one's still a bit shaky!). My only living brother is also Philip Lewis-by sheer accident. He was named for my mother's grandfather who lived in Georgia! I'd also get great glee out of telling my father these Lewises were Baptists in PA. He always teased my mother about her very Baptist upbringing. Guess what, Dad? I'd like to tell my father all this--he'd find both the history and the research process fascinating. He was a man of great intellectual curiosity, and while he was an engineer, history of any sort was his secret passion. I've had many conversations with him about all this family history--all in my head. It would be wonderful to really TALK to him about it and get his reactions. Of course, I'd have to serve steak for Thanksgiving--he hated turkey. <<grin>> Karen Lewis Dale Larkspur CO
