    3. Following is an abstract of court records concerning the trouble Ann BUFFINGTON got into in 1695. ********************************************* Chester Co. Dec. Ye 11th 1695 we the Grand Inquest by the King's authority doe present Robert Roman of Chichester & Ann Buffington the wife of Richard Buffington the said Robert Roman takeing the wife of Henry Hastings away ffrom her husband & children & conveying her away & the said Ann Buffington being confederate with the said Robert Roman. ********************************************* As for the Ann Buffington married by a priest in 1739, that would probably be the Ann Buffington who married Samuel Wilkinson . I do not know her parentage. The Ann and Richard cited in 1762 would be Richard III, son of Richard Jr. and Phoebe GRUBB BUFFINGTON. Ann WOODWARD was his second wife. He wed his first wife Mary BATE 23 Dec 1742. She died 3 June 1748, and he married Ann "by a priest" and was disowned for same in 1750. In 1762 Richard and Ann acknowledged their breach of Quaker practice and were received back into the Society along with the four children of their marriage. Ann died 21 October 1764.
