Is anyone researching the Coates family in the Chester County area? I have Samuel Lane, born 1755, died bet 1809 and 1814, who is shown in a number of online records as marrying a Phebe Coates. Samuel's will proved in 1814 does not mention a wife at all, so I suspect that Phebe dies before then. Their children listed in the will are Edward, Sarah (married George Chrisman), Mary (married John Buckwalter) and Priscilla (married James Erwin). The Lanes were originally in Providence township in Montgomery county, but many of the descendants of Sarah and George are found in South Coventry township, many of them buried at Coventryville Cemetery.
