    1. Re: [PACHESTE] DR. FRANCIS GANDOUET, Chester
    2. Hi Jacqueline New Castle County is adjacent to Chester County and Delaware County formed from it), and the arbitary circular boundary was much less important in colonial times, when they were annexed to Pennsylvania, than after Jume 1776, when the three counties of Delaware separated from Britain and became a separate state. We often find wills probated in counties where the decedent owned property, in addition to the county where he resided. However, in the record cited, "Gandowett" is merely administrator of the estate, so not necessarily a resident nor a property owner. Donn Devine, CG, CGL Wilmington, Delaware, USA CG, Certified Genealogist, CGL, and Certified Genealogical Lecturer are service marks of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, used under license by board certificants after periodic evaluation, and the board name is registered in the US Patent & Trademark Office. --------------Original Message-------------- Date: Fri, 5 Oct 2007 15:20:53 EDT From: Jackisr@aol.com Subject: [PACHESTE] DR. FRANCIS GANDOUET, Chester, would his will be listed in New Castle Co., Delaw To: PACHESTE@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <cb0.1d937e76.3437e895@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" I am researching DR. ALEXANDER GANDOUET (other spellings of name include: GANDOWELL, GANDOWETT, GANDOUETT, GANDOUIT) He was a physican living in Chester county according to one book item found for him. I have found a listing that most likely is for him in Delaware. How close would New Castle County, Delaware be to Chester? Why would Pennsylvania records be listed in Delaware? ======================================== Delaware Genealogical Society Journal Index: Volumes 1-10 New Castle County: Will Book Patrick Dowds- Jul 12, 1760 Administration to Alexander Gandowett/Gandowell- Will Book- G 160 - 1 p. =========================================== Other items found on ALEXANDER GANDOUET: <snip> ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
