For anyone researching George Stoneback 1810-1880 married to Anne (anna) Houck, I have a question. George Stoneback would have been my grandmother's great-grandfather, her grandfather was Samuel K. Stoneback (Susanna Keim). I'm going through all my trunks and photos and I have come across a photo. On the back she wrote, "Geo Stoneback, Lyla's Great-Grandfather" I have hundreds of photos that belonged to my grandmother. There was only one photo that I found an error on out of all of them. However, I wonder about this photo -- if it could possibly be correct. I don't know much about the history of photographs, but this appears to be a tin-type, and it's in a blue paper envelope type thing. His hand rests on a rock thing. I was just wondering if it were even possible age-wise for this to really be him. If anyone could help me date this photo, I would be very grateful. Grandmother was very accurate with all her descriptions on the photos, so based on that alone, I have no reason to doubt. I just want to double-check.
