Yes, ancestry runs rootsweb (which is free) as it does these rootsweb mailing lists which we are on right now! : ) I've never paid to join ancestry.com feeling that the information they provide should be free to everyone. But the small amount per year to have a website like they provide (which I love) is well worth it and the cost can be divided up as many have done on the MyFamily.com sites that I am already a part of.
