The point of acknowledging the receipt of our lookup has always been to let the volunteer know that it arrived...sure, thanks is great, but the only way I know that my info got there is if I am told it did. And, when I don't hear, I wonder if it got lost.....these thing happen, to be sure. The reason I do lookups is to try to help others, as I was helped, early on , in my own genealogical " travels"- If I didn't care if the person received their information I wouldn't be doing lookups in the first place,so I always try to check back to see if things arrived .......it's not about being thanked, that's nice, but secondary; it's about trying to see that the information gets to the person who wanted it. I've sat and waited for answers to my own queries, and hate the thought that someone is waiting and waiting for something from me, that's already been sent and was lost somewhere along the way. -----Original Message----- From: Derick S.
