This entire subject needs to be dropped now. And apparently, a number of people, on both sides, need to be reminded that posting private emails, regardless of their content, to this list, without the permission of the writer, is a violation of privacy, at the very least. I don't believe that any amount of good works that we do by sharing our knowledge with each other justifies being rude or intolerant to each other. Though I very obviously cannot control the email messages that are sent privately by members of this list, I can and do state emphatically that such behavior sickens me and will not be tolerated on this list. I urge each and every one of you to be patient and tolerant of each other, both publicly and privately. If a posted message is not to one's liking, consider using the delete key rather than firing off an impassioned message in response. And, if one becomes weary of the type of queries received when acting as a volunteer, consider easing back on the amount of volunteer work offered. And to those of you who ask others for information, please, please provide as much detail as possible and remember that you are dealing with a volunteer, not a paid worker. It is the very active volunteers of this list, and so many others like it, that have helped to make the online genealogy community the wonderful asset that it is. This list is a valuable resource for many, many people; it would be a shame if a newcomer to this list saw the recent behavior here as being typical of us as a group.
