    1. [PACHESTE] Calendar Update on DCCH Records
    2. Good morning to all & thank you all so very much for your impute & advice! I'm going to compile & print out what everyone has sent me. If I don't respond back to you please forgive me but I want you all to know I'm working on this problem & I'm very grateful to you all for your help--this has been along time in coming! I'm going to start with local officials, but go on to state, federal, newspapers & TV. (I will update you as I go along.) I feel that if the locals think that know one else is evolved, nothing will ever be done to help us preserve & make these records available to the public. If we can't get to them now, with all this publics show of interest-- I think nothing will ever be done regarding these records! About 10 years ago there was an article in the Daily Times on how these Archival Records were going to be housed & preserved-- nothing ever happened!! Why was this placed in the newspaper was it an election year? My Calendar on The Delaware County Court House Records: Issues: 1. Archival Records--How they are stored & we need a place to view these records & make them available to the public. A docket was being used to prop a door open, there is no temperature control, where they are stored, etc. 2. In general--Public Records not being available to the public. Divorce, Citizenship Papers, Letters of Intent, Immigration, Veterans Records in the Recorder of Deeds Office, etc. 3. Missing/lost Public Records--Murder Index Docket; Adoption Docket (1865-1921) (maybe in Chester); Tax Docket; Dela. Co. Court House's Immigrate Wall Records, etc. 4. Clerks & people in charge at the Delaware County Court House--being very unpleasant, rude, they act like you are bothering them, they do not want to help you, they get mad or upset if they have to make copies for you, etc. 9:02 AM I phoned & spoke to President Judge Joseph F. BATTLE's secretary Ellen, at the Delaware County Court House: (610) 891-5180 -- no e-mail address She told me to call &/or write to Edward BLAIR, he is in charge of the records at the court house: Joseph E. BLAIR 201 W. Front St. Delaware County Government Center Rm. G-12 Media, PA 19063 (610) 891-4426 -- No e-mail address 9:14 AM I called the Daily Times & asked to speak to Linda DiMEGLIO, (ass't editor), I had to leave a message about the court records & our issues on her answering machine. (610) 622-8800 & e-mail address: newsroom@delcotimes.com 9:20 AM I called State Rep. (for Aston where I live) Stephen BARRAR & spoke to Beth. (Stephen is away.) I told her about our problem & issues. (610) 874-1358 -- No e-mail address Beth told me to speak to County Council first, before I do anything, especially Wallace (Wally) NUNN (Chairman). Wallace NUNN 201 W. Front Delaware County Government Center Media, PA 19063 (610) 891-4251 -- No e-mail address I called & left a message with the secretary of Mr. NUNN to have him call be & I explained to her what it was in reference to. 11:35 AM Mr. NUNN returned my call, he was very short with me as I tried to explain our problem & issues. He spoke to me for about 3 minutes. In doing so he told me with in a year they were going to try to have as much online as they could, starting with the important records first, mortgages, taxes, etc. (I asked if he could e-mail me a letter to that fact, that I could post on the web.) He went on to tell me to send him a letter & he would address our issues but that I might not like what he would says! (Was this a threat or was he trying to intimidate me?) He continued on by telling me how busy his job was & he had more important issues, tax assessments, abused children to worry about at this time. He does return phone calls but I had to understand he had xxxxxxx amount of constituent to consider. I asked him if I could just mention the four (4) issues (above) to him. He asked if it would take long (he was not being nice). I told him it would not take me long! When I mention issue (1.) he told me to put this in a letter. When I mentioned issue (2.) he has no control over records at the court house. When I mentioned (3.) he told me I was making him "mad" by even bring this up! When I told him about issue (4.) he wants to know about any court employee who screams at the public or is not doing their job. In conclusion, this was not a very pleasant conversation & I could tell he did not want to hear anything I had to say but wanted me to listen to him & understand his problems. Hence, write to Wallace NUNN, especially about issues #1. & #4. Please make sure the other County Council members names are on the letter so it goes to them, John McFADDEN Catherine DURHAM Timothy MURTAUGH Andrew REILLY 4:00 PM Jim ATKINS return my phone call from the Daily Times. He was very pleasant, understanding & interested in our problem. I had e-mailed some of the replies sent to me yesterday, to The Daily. Jim is going to check them out. I am also e-mailing this to him too! Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)
