I remember looking Francis up for you, Judy, but the original email is long gone,,,,,,,,I find a listing for Francis Smith, as one of the first to take up land (this is in Pennsbury), formed from the eastern part of Kennet, and made of the earliest settled part of the township..[.pg. 200 F & C]....this is probably the same Francis who, in 1686, took up 200 acres of land at the mouth of Pocopson Creek, within the original limits of Kennet[this is mentioned in both F & C and the Immigration of the Irish Quakers into PA]...He came from Devizes, in Wiltshire...the land was surveyed in 1686. there is another mention of a Francis Smith, as a landholder in 1689, with 300 acres.
