Is anyone researching BROWNBACK, FUNK or KEELEY? I have BROWNBACK and FUNK marrying into my SHOWALTER line and KEELEY marrying into the BROWNBACK line. I am just starting to get to the latter two names and could use some information and/or direction. I don't have immediate access to materials as I now live in the mid-west, so any leads will save me a lot of time on my next trip east. I am looking for information on my GGGrandmother, Sarah Keeley. From Genealogy of the BRUMBACH Families, by Gaius Marcus BRUMBAUGH, M.S, M.D., 1913, I have: [A25] JESSE4 BROWNBACK ([A13] John3, [A6] Henry2, Gerhard1) m Sarah Keeley, b Nov. 13, 1815; d June 30, 1898. He was called "Pale Jesse," to distinguish him from the other Jesse4 [A41]. Children (7): [A93] Martha5, b Dec. 4, 1840; living. [A94] Sophia5, b 1843; d [A95] Morris5, b Aug. 5, 1845. [A96] George5, b Oct. 25, 1851; d [A97] Davis5, b 1853; living. [A98] Hannah5, b 1855; living. [A99] Clara5, b March 19, 1858; living. That one reference to Sarah is the only information that I have. >From the Jobson, Francis and Charles, Papers Box 1 (of 9), located in the Mennonite Historical Society Library, I found the following FUNK information (direct descendants only): 1) Henry FUNK, Bishop, + wife 2) Henry FUNK + Barbara SHOWALTER, b c 1734 3) Jacob FUNK, Rev., b May 30, 1761, d Jul 22, 1817 + Mary SHELLY, d Apr 27, 1809 4) Barbara FUNK, b Jun 3, 1795, d Jul 3, 1881 + John SHOWALTER, b Oct 6, 1795, Oct 4, 1866 5) Jacob Funk Showalter, b Apr 12, 1824, d May 19, 1888 Most of my information is available on our web site. We add to it as time permits. The pedigree charts do need to be updated to include new information. There are lots of links to other sites and researchers. If you care to visit, our address is: http://members.home.net/sandlier/index.htm. If any BROWNBACK researchers are reading this, I recently added a number of pages containing about two dozen pictures. Most were taken by my Grandfather, Harry Baum SHOWALTER, and were recently printed from the dry-plate negatives. The pictures date from about 1890-1905 and most, I am certain, contain BROWNBACK family members. The main purpose of these pages is to help us identify the people in the pictures. Each picture has a link that will launch your email program and address the message to me with the subject filled in. If you do visit and recognize someone, all that need be done is to write a message letting me know who you can identify. If you want to cut to the chase and view the pictures, go to http://members.home.net/bsandlier/album/harrys_photos.htm. The pictures were scanned at a low (72dpi) resolution to keep the size small, so they are not the sharpest. If it should happen that someone is interested in copies of anything, write me and let me know. There are email all throughout our web site, or use my address below. -- Bruce Sandlier mailto:bsandlier@home.com
Bruce, If you live near an LDS Family History Center, you can order the film ( I think it is $3.50 per film to order) that has the Burials at Brownbacks Reformed Church. The film # is 1294884. The people that transcribed this cemetery even listed the rows that the people are buried. I found it quite useful. I have some relatives that married into the Brownback family. Sebastian Root's daughter, Margaret, married Edward Brownback. I believe the Chrisman family married into the Brownback line as well. I have found the Genealogies of the Brumbach family to be very useful as well. I have not done much research on the Brownback line since it is a "cousin line". But I know there is some good information available on this family. Good luck to you.
