Hello! I have begun work to extend the research my grandmother did concerning our Vernon genealogy. I have been able to find a fair amount about Thomas, Randal and Robert Vernon, three brothers who came to Chester PA as part of the Quaker immigration in 1681/2. However, I have very little information about my ancestor Thomas Vernon III. >From what I know so far, this is my paternal line from the time of the settlement of PA - James VERNON, father of Thomas, Randal and Robert and an early Quaker Thomas VERNON b. 1635, England d. 1698 Chester PA Thomas VERNON Jr, b. 1675 England d. 1754 Chester PA 3rd child of Thomas Mordecai VERNON I, b. 1720 Chester PA, d. 1792 East Marlborough PA 9th child of Thomas Mordecai VERNON II, b. 1752 Chester PA, d. 1834 one of seven children Thomas VERNON III b. 1799 Chester PA, d. ?? Mordecai VERNON III b. 1822 Chester PA, d. 1892 Bowling Green Ohio Mordecai Lincoln VERNON b. 1866 Wood County Ohio d. 1917 Stark County Ohio Charles Wesley VERNON Sr. b. 1894 Ohio, d. 1973 Ohio Charles Wesley VERNON Jr. b. 1926 Ohio d. 1982 Ohio Any suggestions as to how to find more information about Thomas Vernon III would be appreciated. Also, regarding Mordecai Vernon I, I have read that he fathered an illigitimate daughter by Ann KEY in 1744 on Cheska Wheatley's website, and I read elsewhere that this may have resulted in him being read out of Quaker meeting. That would explain why I can't find Thomas Vernon III in the Quaker Encyclopedia of Geneology, but I couldn't find any evidence of this event there. Any ideas as to where to look for that information? As I live near Washington DC I can get to the National Archives or the Library of Congress if that is a useful source. Thanks! Anthony Cliffe Vernon
