I found my man in the 1920 census, so I'm not sure of the 1910 references. In 1920, it is listed in Santa Clara County, Agnews Precinct, Agnews State Hospital for Insane, Vol. 121, E.D. 194, National Archives Microfilm Publication T625, Roll 147. The women were listed first, then the men, all alphabetically (it looked like they just copied the names from the hospital files). Hope this helps.
