    1. [PACHESTE] TODD & HESTON Family & Frazer, Chester Co., PA
    2. Hi list,      John Milner's Architect Firm asked me to do research on Charlton HESTON, the actor.  They wanted to know if he had a connection to Isaiah Heston TODD & Family who donated the land for Washington's Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge Park, Montgomery Co., PA. (The TODD - HESTON Family lived in Chester Co., PA for a while.) The following is Charlton CARTER's ancestors: (aka Charlton HESTON, the actor -- he is not related to the TODD - HESTON Family) 1) John B. CARTER, b. 1866, England    + Katie Beatrice CLARK, b. 1868, Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL      2) Russell CARTER, b. 1897, IL         + Lilla CHARLTON, b. 1899, IL, (2nd husband Chester L. HESTON,                               b. c1902, OH.           3) Charlton CARTER, b. 1923-24, Evenston, Cook Co., IL.                 (aka Charlton HESTON, the actor, was adopted by his                stepfather). WASHINGTON MEMORIAL CHAPEL -- Valley Forge, Montgomery Co., PA HISTORY The money for the chapel was raised in small increments (nickels and dimes), raising the building a "few feet at a time."[3] In the religious and patriotic zeal of the day, Dr. Burk was active in trying to preserve Valley Forge, and in the establishment of the Valley Forge Museum of American History (the predecessor to the Valley Forge Historical Society). [3] On June 19, 1903, the 125th anniversary of the evacuation of the continental army from Valley Forge,[3] the cornerstone was laid on property donated by the "I. Heston TODD Family." A small framed building preceded the present structure. The original structure was named the "Theodore Roosevelt Chapel," in honor of President Roosevelt after his visit to the site and address in 1904.[4] The Chapel was completed in 1917 and is the home of an active parish as well as a National Memorial to Washington.[3] The chapel serves as a wayside chapel to those who visit Valley Forge National Historical Park, and welcomes visitors from all over the world.[4] >From the visitor's perspective the Chapel, with its central park location and visitor friendly access, appears to be a part of the park. However the Chapel and surrounding property belong to the Episcopal Church. Across Port Kennedy Road from the Chapel sits the builder's model of the Washington Monument. The Church property included a walkway connecting the monument to the road, which caused the park a problem. When the park installed a multi-use trail along the road, they had to terminate it short of either side of the Chapel's walkway. When an errant car took out the low brick wall bounding the walkway, the trail was finally completed. The Bell Tower houses the DAR Patriot Rolls, listing those that served in the Revolutionary War, and the Chapel grounds host the World of Scouting Museum.[5] [edit] National Patriots Bell Tower and Carillon The chapel is also known for carillon, placed in the National Patriots Bell Tower.[6] The tower was built entirely by funds raised over a period of more than a decade by members of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).[7] It is a traditional carillon with a traditional keyboard composed of 58 bells. The first 14 bells were installed in 1926 (from the Meneely bell foundry), and expanded over the course of three decades. The 56 bells were reinstalled in the current tower in 1953, and expanded again to 58 bells in 1963 with bells from the Paccard bell foundry in France. Past carillonneurs have included Frank Pechin Law and Frank Della Penna.[6] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Memorial_Chapel ----------------------------------- HESTON - TODD Family Descendant Chart: 1) Zebulon HESTON, b. 1670, Middlesex, England      2) Zebulon HESTON, b. 1702, Burlington Co., NJ           3) Isaiah (Joshua) HESTON, b. 1744, Bucks Co., PA -                               (served in the Revolutionary War)                4) Isaiah HESTON, b. 1778, Bucks Co., PA                     5) Martha HESTON, b. c1810, PA                        + John TODD, b. c1810, PA                          6) Isaiah Heston TODD, Chester Valley, PA                                    (donated the land for the Washington Chapel                                       at Valley Forge Park, Montgomery Co., PA)                CENSUS RECORDS: 1850 Census -- P.O. 1. [PACHESTE] Route 202 Blue Ball Barn and Farm (presentation)
    2. Good afternoon list, A friend of mine, Doreen HANNUM, who is a coordinator at the Senior Citizen Center in New Castle, DE asked me to post this invitation for the general public -- interested in history & genealogy: -------------------------- Hi Helen,    I have Richard WHITE, the field director of archaeological excavations at the old Jacob WELDIN Plantation, coming to the senior center to do a presentation on: Wednesday, March 14 at 12:45 PM.   The Jacob WELDIN farm and property was located at the corners of Routes 202 and Foulk Rd. Jacob WELDIN purchased the land in 1862 and converted the farmstead into a large-scale dairy operation.  This site is unique because of the existence of extensive about ground foundations.  As excavations progressed, a wide and impressive variety of architectural features were identified, as well as a rich artifact assemblage.    Richard will present a slide show and discussion about the excavations, architecture, and the artifacts.  It's free and all are invited. New Castle Senior Center 400 South Street New Castle, DE.  (302) 326-4209.   Could you send this to your list in case anyone is interested?  Thanks, I'd appreciated it.  I think it's something they might like since they like history. 1. [PACHESTE] DAVIS Family History
    2. jon davis
    3. Hi All, I am new to this site. Am looking for any family history information that would lead me to Chester county PA. on the James(David)Davis family information. I found this link to Chester county PA. from family history on the Jonathan Davis family at the library in Winchester KY., Clark county. This Jonathan Davis passed away in 1826, Clark Co. KY., and had a brother named Septimus Davis. Information in KY. leads me to believe the father of this Jonathan Davis was from near Tredyffrim township, and his name was James Davis who passed away in 1802, and probably buried at the baptist church in the great valley, near Devon, PA. Any help would be appreciated. Jonathan P. Davis, IL.

I just received an estate file for a Rebecca WOODWARD who died c8/1849, in West Nantmeal, and her executor listed an expense for advertizing in the 'Register' in the final accounting submitted 3/20/1850. I wondered if anyone knows where I could find that paper and get a copy of the article. I presume they were having a public sale and were advertizing the date and time, etc....... or announcing that the estate was closing and any debts owed should be paid to the executor who was Jonathan MILLARD. There is a person selling their collection of Chester County books and maps on Ebay, books on County History and I also saw some township books and maps. I was wondering if there were any of them that I could purchase and send to you so you could upload them. My requirement is that you would have to donate the book or books either to the Chester County Historical Society Library or if they already have a copy to another nearby historical society. You can find the collection by doing a search on "Chester County Atlas" or "West Chester County" Let me know what you think. Thanks, Frank --------------------------------- Now that's room service! I paid the huge sum of $3!! It has every city and shows who owned what land. It's a rather wide book and not easy to fit into a scanner. However it does have all of the information that books on eBay have, but lot less money. The print is very small, but with a magnifying glass, you can readily see the names and what land they owned. A fabulous deal for $3.00. Lorraine Our long-term girlfriends form our safety net, the ones who know our histories, our secrets, our travails, and our successes. Look for Death Records and under the letter "S". Students from West Chester University compiled all the deaths from three volumes (1893-1907) and arranged them in alpha order by last name. I often go to Phoenixville Historical Society and will look for an obit on my next trip. If I find one, I'll take a digital image and forward it to you.
