    1. [PACHESTE] Dublin IRELAND 1911 Census On-Line
    2. Hi All ~ I don't know how long this has been available & I don't think this has been posted, if it has, sorry about that! Someone sent this info to me so thought I'd pass it on ~ maybe it will help someone! The National Archives of Ireland has released the 1911 census FOR DUBLIN, now available at _http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/_ (http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/) . You can search by first/last name, approximate age (within 5 years), gender, and DED (District Electoral Division). Results are sorted by surname by default, and are in tables which include name, townland/street, age, sex, and DED. Click on a name and you'll get the information on the entire family living at that address. On the family page you'll also find links to census images (which are in PDF format, be warned) that include the basic household form but also forms for buildings, outbuildings, and other forms unique to households or situations. You can also BROWSE the census, which is pretty interesting! You can browse by DED, which will take you through the townlands/streets of Dublin and list houses and families as well as significant buildings in the area. To get a sense of what the city was like in 1911, the site also has several articles and photographs covering a variety of topics including religion, transportation, poverty, and law. **Be sure to check out the future plans page, which shows the order in which census records will be made available. The records for 1911 are being digitized first, which began in December 2007. Not sure how long it takes to do one county so don't know when the next ones will be available. The 1905 census will follow. Hope this helps someone ~ enjoy & have fun! Wanda Lancaster Co PA **************Start the year off right. 1. [PACHESTE] Names from Franklin and LondonBritain Map 1873
    2. Mary McIndoe
    3. These names were all taken from the business listings on one of the maps on the site I posted the other day. If this atlas was done like others I've seen, the business owners probably paid to have their names listed,s op the lists are by no means complete for a given area, but just include those who were willing to pay for the advertising. All spellings are as they appear on the map. I'll be posting these lists as I do them to my website as well. They're pretty interesting reading, especially when I recognize the names. M. P. Sentman, for example, is buried over at Flint Hill cemetery as I have a photo of his stone from a trip to the area, but I had no idea who he was. I like to be able to fill in some of the pieces this way! 1. [PACHESTE] HIMES and STEWART Surnames
    2. Bruce Fosnocht
    3. Hello, I will begin the New Year by asking for help with some of my dead ends. One of the shortest lines in my whole family tree is that of my grandmother, Sarah Ida HIMES. My father filled out her death certificate, and named her parents as Henry HIMES and Amelia A. STEWART. Henry HIMES was born about 1835, the son of David HIMES and wife Elizabeth. This couple are my HIMES brick wall. They were married before 1833, probably in Chester County, because they appear in the 1840 census for W. Vincent Township. The 1850, 1860, and 1870 census place them in Caernarvon Township, Berks County. They died just before the 1880 census, and are both buried in Bethel Evangelical Cemetery, 1 mi. S. of Plowville at Lilly Rd. in Robeson Twp, Berks County. Based on the 1840 census, I feel they were both born and married in or near W. Vincent Township, Chester County. I am looking for birth and marriage records there, in order to identify their parents. Per the census, both were born about 1805. My STEWART line is equally short. Amelia A. STEWART was born 6/2/1840, the daughter of James STEWART and wife Catharine. This couple are my STEWART brick wall. They were also probably born and married in Chester County. They appear in the 1840 census for W. Fallowfield Township, Chester County. By 1850 they were in Caernarvon Township, Berks County. James died before the 1860 census, which shows the widow, Catharine, in Caernarvon Twp, Berks County. Based on the 1840 census, I feel they were both born and married in or near W. Fallowfield Township, Chester County. I am looking for birth and marriage records there, in order to identify their parents. Per the census, both were born about 1806. To summarize, I am looking for birth and marriage records of: James STEWART, b. abt. 1806, probably in W. Fallowfield Twp, Chester County Catharine (Unknown), b. abt. 1806, probably in W. Fallowfield Twp, Chester County Married btw. 1825 and 1835, probably in W. Fallowfield Twp, Chester County Amelia A. STEWART, b. 6/2/1840, probably in W. Fallowfield Twp, Chester County David HIMES, b. abt. 1805, probably in W. Vincent Twp, Chester County Elizabeth (Unknown), b. abt. 1805, probably in W. Vincent Twp, Chester County Married btw. 1825 and 1833, b. probably in W. Vincent Twp, Chester County Amelia A. STEWART, b. 6/2/1840, probably in W. Vincent Twp, Chester County I would appreciate hearing from anyone acquainted with any of these families. Bruce Fosnocht

    1. [PACHESTE] FOSNOCHT/HORNER/HARNER Surnames
    2. Bruce Fosnocht
    3. Hello, I will begin the New Year by asking for help with some of my dead ends, Philip FOSNOCHT and his wife, Mary HORNER/HARNER. Philip was born 10/31/1811 in Lebanon, son of Friedrich and Anna Maria FASNACHT, per the records of Salem Lutheran Church. Philip and Mary were married between 1830 and 1833, when son William was born, according to the records of St Gabriel's Episcopal in Douglassville, Berks County. I am looking for their marriage date and location, in hopes of finding Mary's last name, birth place, and parentage. Philip and Mary first appear in the 1840 census for Union Twp, Berks County. In 1850 and 1860, they were in Robeson Twp, Berks County. In 1870 and 1880, they were in W. Nantmeal Twp, Chester County. They are buried in Elverson Methodist Cemetery. Their surviving children are as follows. My great grandfather Allison FOSNOCHT, Postmaster at Joanna, Berks County, who married Sarah Elizabeth WOODWARD. William FOSNOCHT, a shoemaker in Pottstown, Montgomery County, who married Susanna GEIGER. Isaac Geiger FOSNOCHT, a Methodist minister who served in PA, MD, DE, and VA, who married Bessie Burke PRICE. I would appreciate hearing from anyone acquainted with any of these families, especially the HORNER or HARNER family from either Lebanon or Douglassville. Bruce Fosnocht

Only 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. Had a bathtub. Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone. A three-minute call from Denver to New York City Cost eleven dollars. There were only 8,000 cars in the U.S., an d only 144 miles of paved roads. The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph. Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more Heavily populated than California. With a mere 1.4 million people, California was only the 21st Most populous state in the Union. The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower! The average wage in the US. Was 22 Cents per hour. The average U.S. Worker made between $200 and $400 per year. A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, A dentist made $2,500 per year, A veterinarian $1,500 per year, And a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year. More than 95 percent of all births in the U.S. Took place at HOME. Ninety percent of all U.S. Doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION! Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which Were condemned in the press AND the government   As 'substandard.' Sugar cost four cents a pound. Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.
